Tsarskoye Selo

This was a big day, we went to Tsarskoye Selo (Царское Село) by train from Saint Petersburg. We went inside Catherine Palace and saw the Amber Room, the grand Ballroom and lots of golden rooms. We walked around Catherine Park, and around to the front gates of Catherine Palace. This place is huge, too much to see in a day. The summer residence of the Tsars, including Catherine the Great and the Romanovs.

Peter, I wondered...since you are in St. Petersburg if you've ever considered making the trek north to the island of Valaam? I just finished a book about an American convert to Orthodoxy and his trek to Valaam in the early 1990s. It seems like a magnificant place. ☦️
