@@Nissardpertugiu exactly what i think bro. Stupid metalheads think that evilness and heaviness comes with that evil ugly voice and distorted downtune riffs and chords. The real creepiness, haunting vibes, evilness comes from creepy melodies. For example mysterons, numb and all mine of portishead are heavier and more evil than most of those copycat soundalike black metal bands. Or morning bell, in limbo, we suck young blood of radiohead are more evil those as if evil songs.
@@mutlucansihman, I guess I’m stupid for thinking Doom/Sludge Metal bands and Black Metal bands know how to create sinister atmospheres. Other than that, I agree with you. Even bands that aren’t heavy are capable of creating creepy, sinister atmospheres.
I absolutely love Elizabeth Fraser, the music and especially this album. Cocteau Twins are great, and this, even though it's their first album, is to me their best.
@micki0810 Originally on a freebie compilation as was "Perhaps Some Other Aeon". The original Garlands CD included the four John Peel Session tracks plus this track and Aeon. Shame they were not included on the remastered reissue.
Completely mesmerizing! I've listened to it 6 times now, only stopping to write this comment, and I'm not totally sure that I'm able to stop listening to it right now. The Twins are fucking brilliant! (Sorry for that expletive, but it was necessary to fully describe their blended brilliance..imo.)
Well i thought I'd heard them all (only heard Perhaps Someother Aeon 4 1st time last yr) and then this turns up! It wasn't on my original vinyl of Garlands. Was there a 12"back then i never knew of? Amazing!
another album that is almost from the same time period by a band that was also on 4Ad is the Debut of the Band DEAD CAN DANCE. Really cool stuff. Or you should try "The Seer" by SWANS.
actually not accurate. "Speak no Evil" and "Perhaps Some Other Aeon" where supposed to be their first release. and it was cancelled, so these 2 songs are much older than anything they released.
i truly believe people were not ready for this kind of music in 1982. god bless the cocteau twins
Yeah, they were. Pornography, Juju, Closer- all similar, well-received albums in the early 80s.
@@JRStephens5005 she means the mainstream. This kind of music was underground at the time even for the "new wave".
@@enigmag9538 too disturbing i think .
Theses guitars could be atmospheric black metal

I love their older, spookier stuff. :)
Who's still listening to this in any year ? 💙🖤💜
This song would be perfect in a modern noir or serial killer film, it just feels so brooding and cinematic.
This song is fantastic. It should have been on the original Garlands!

excelent cover (picture), excelent lyrics, excelent sound, excelent song, excelent album, excelent work.
Todo sobre esta banda es perfecto.
I'm hearing Voodoo Dolly a lot in this. Especially in the guitar.

Just can't avoid reminding the S&TB superb Night Shift when listening to this theme...

The intro sounds like Nightshift by SATB.
I thought the same... It's that guitar riff !
True!
It definitely does.
Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, and This Mortal Coil freed me from the mind-numbing banality of American radio.
EXCELLENT BAND!!!
Wonderful band
Sounds like a soundtrack to wrist-cutting during a major comedown.
great song!
Guau tremendo tema y es de un año antes que naciera.
Fraser is my personal Banshee
about a week ago i had the most powerful haunting dream ive had in my life. the album cover quite closely resembles what i saw. scary :S
Absolute LOVE
sublime!
@martinekkes
you're right it is very penetrating and releases a very deep meaning about human relationships, speaking for myself.
does anyone know artists/bands or more songs like this one?
wow just soo damn deep and true =]
cheers for the info :o)
Here's a phenomenon again..(I don't think it's 'There's nothing movin' it again) :)
wow, that's dark!
Garlands era cocteaux twins album is one of most disturbing record i ever heard

Same chords as 'Nightshift ' by the Banshees. Similar guitar fx too. Not a criticism btw ...dont shoot me .😁
These are not the actual lyrics. "Wolf thirst said me"?? That's just pitiful.
