Can’t wait to watch the movie. I’ve bought tickets for the Little Tokyo and Cerritos screening but ended up having to work both those nights. 3rd times the charm, I just preordered on AppleTV.
Bruh the whole colourist thing in the Philippines is crazy people would say I bleached my skin or ask what bleaching creams I used…. My mom is literally white 💀💀💀
"The Fabulous Filipino Brothers (2021)," "Fakin' the Funk (1997: the great Pam Grier and Margaret Cho; a trail blazer)," "The Debut (2002: Dante's debut film)," & "Hook (1991)."
An Asian Battle Royale? If the LA Riots taught me anything, is that Koreans are ready for some shit to go down. They literally became an army and was ready for all the smoke.
Unfortunately, whitening products in the Philippines are heavily advertised. And Dante's right about the actors and celebrity's back at home, they are mixed. Of course not all of them are, but no doubt there's a hand full of them. I think the notion of having pale skin back at home is slowly changing. Really slow though lol. I look back, and I realized that yes they maybe speaking Tagalog and are Pinoy in every possible way. But I looked like none of them in terms of their skin tone. They were all so pale, and that was the highest standard of beauty - it still is. They have this way of thinking that being paler is the form of success. It's been taught for hundreds of years, so it's no wonder why Pinoys have a lot of dislike towards their own people who are dark.
To those confused about Kuya Dante and the crew's sidebar about are Samoans Asian or not. Polynesians are apart of the Austronesian Ethnolinguistic group. An Ethnolinguistic group is a group of people who share genetics, linguistics, and loosely culture. The people apart of this group are the Aboriginal Taiwanese, Malaysian, Indonesian, us Pares, Micronesians, Polynesians, and the Malagasy of Madagascar. We are one people, many tribes, separated by thousands of miles of ocean. The first to reach such a feat in all of human history. It is really a beautiful thing. The genetics admixture of Polynesians are 80% Austronesian (Asian/Mongoloid) to 20% Papuan/Melanesian (Australoid), while also speaking a Austronesian language. This admixture of Austronesian DNA is higher in Micronesian countries such as Guam or Palau. The same admixture can actually be found in the people of Timor-Leste and they look nothing like what a typical Polynesian would look like. The Austronesian Ethnolinguistic group is a Ethnolinguistic branch of the Mongoloid Asian race, which has been proven and is shown by genetics and linguistics, therefore making anyone apart of it without a doubt Asian genetically and linguistically, even Micronesians and Polynesians. Race has been very skewed by Western Society to base race solely on skin color and phenotypes, but genetics are much more complex and show a even more complex history on the peopling of the world and who is truly related to who. For example many people think Papuan, Melanesian, Negrito Australoids are black and the same race as Africans, when in reality they are actually the furthest related people to the people of Africa genetically and also have the genetic mutation that causes blonde and red hair, which can only be found in specific parts of the world. White Europeans actually have more genetic similarities to the people of Africa than the Australoid people of the pacific. Many Polynesians don't want to acknowledge these genetic and linguistic facts and want to be considered separate from their Asian family, which at the end of the day is completely fine and is each persons prerogative, but as the saying goes "You cant escape your past", that includes your genetic and linguistic ancestry.
Dammnnn Ryan really put me on with this episode. Long story short I really relate to Faking the funks storyline man. Ima try n find and buy the movie. Shout out Dante for representing us ✊🏽
My true skin tone is quite light. I was pretty tan as a kid cause I loved being outside. People from school would always say how dark I am. I think one summer, I didn't go out that much, so I was quite light when I went back to school and everyone was shocked and they would just tell me about how dark I used to be, lol. With Bart said about people in the military. My boyfriend is much more pale than I am. I have a yellow tint to my skin, but my boyfriend is straight up white AF. I feel bad for him because he always gets bad sunburn when he's out in the sun for too long. I rarely get burned. I usually just get tan, which I appreciate a lot.
Its colorism, its not about being white (Caucasian). The other dude is right its about social hierarchy, where if youre blacker people assume you to be field workers which means youre at the bottom, and having fairer skinn means youre upper. Even before the Spaniards came, fairer skin is the most preferred for women. Central Philippines had Binukot (Princess) daughter of nobles whose not forbidden to fo outside of even touch the ground. They needed to be carry if they want to go somewhere, they also bath on milk.. the fairer binukat became the most desirable they are for other noble men.
"Slap all of them !" - Bart (on doing a "false crack/sucker punch" move on any K-Pop singer, like a BTS member). I like Joe's Samoan women bouncers. Oh Snap = those "aunties" are like the center or left/right guards, protecting the quarterback (for any NFL team).
I stopped this video to watch the movie Dante was in Faking Da Funk, and it was great, it was funny. I am glad you guys spoke about it. My favorite characters were the hot mom and the hot girl Dante was dating. What are both ladies names? I saw it on RUclips.
its the nose dante not the skin color we filipino's care about. for my experience does who grow up in the state are the one insecure about their skin color.
Bart and Nick have Hella sibling energy lol, down to the same color shirts and everything
Yes I was thinking the same before! They come off like they’re brothers
Bart Nick and Kalyne are all siblings bro
There’s something so refreshing about Dante’s vibe, he’s just upbeat and funny
So cool to see Dante on the show. A Filipino legend.
Overall he’s just a legend
Anthony knew what’s up not answering Nick’s question about BTS 🤣🤣
Finally jknews bring og Dante back ...I vote him for permanent cast👍👍👍👍
As a Samoan, I will always back up Dante Basco
Damn straight
TF Joe asks if Filipinos are the Latinos of Asians and he's over there sounding hella Mexican.
Dante and Ryan “ you have to watch it” BUT ITS IMPOSSIBLE

The mom is Pam Grier; the girlfriend is Tatyana Ali.
its the nose dante not the skin color we filipino's care about. for my experience does who grow up in the state are the one insecure about their skin color.
They're talking about girls wanting lighter skin and here us girls used to sunbathe and tan and try to get darker.
Fakin the funk was a great movie. Margaret cho was the fobby character. Go left? Right. Right? In some skin care they had the skin lightening formula.
What these boys don't know is how fit the kpop boys are. Unlike jpop idols they are tall and strong, just too much make up.
I wore sunscreen all the time when I was 16 and I became pasty pale…it works lol
It is not only Filipinos who prefer to be white, but the Asians in general think that black is beautiful.
Haha saw the movie loveeet!
watching zack and cody on disney+ and dante is on season 2 episode 36 😂 was not expecting to see him there
Lol. I’ve got papaya soap in the bathroom.

Don’t do us like that. SHOCKED, I still subscribe to this channel
He’s not lying! It’s happening right now and nobody’s talking about

@@nobody-n9s are you saying that only black people beat up asians? That’s sounds pretty racist to me
@@NVR12345 there were so many videos of young black men knocking out old Asian men.

Alex Wassabi is getting ready for a boxing match in March. Posted about his training on his YT channel.
Love the banter but couldn’t hear anyone finish their sentence lol
Oh shit we throwing down in the office? Let me finish my order of mojos potatoes from Shakey's and I'll head over.
Fakin da funk that shit was dope!

Everywhere you go in the world light skin is looked up upon it seems
I really don't know why...There are no benefits to being a lighter skintone physically speaking.
Manny Pacquioa’s wife Jinkee, is originally a mestiza. Enhance with tech :)
