    Tabitha is actually buffed on tinywars, on cartridge her CO unit does not gain energy on counterattack as long as your zone is at 0 (so before 30 energy). This is most likely a bug (cartridge) so good that it is changed.

    Competitive player here! Nice to see you playing Tiny Wars! Competitive DoR is indeed really fun, it's very different from AWBW, yet it still feels familiar ^_^
    Tabitha is a cool CO, she is very scary for the opponent, yet she is a bit complex to play. She absolutely demolish beginners, but experienced players can give her a lot of trouble, notably with "energy denial" (preventing your opponent from building energy), because of her starting 0 radius CO zone.
    The Flare opening doesn't really work with Tabitha. She wants early Tanks. An early "Tabitank" can apply tremendous pressure to your opponent's capture phase, pushing away their infantry and bikes from the contested cities, because your opponent doesn't want to give you free energy (as reaching 30 energy is basically her win condition), and because your opponent won't have the firepower to zone her away that early.
    Always having an escort tank with a Tabitank is also vital, because you can join them together to keep her alive. Her survival is of absolute importance, because yet again, reaching 30 energy is her win condition, and you want to achieve it ASAP, before your opponent's D2D and CO power deals too much damage to your unbuffed army.
    Hoping this is useful info for playing with or against her! ^_^
    NB: in DoR, energy is based on the HP damage dealt. You need to deal 30 HP of damage to get 30 energy, 60 HP to get your power ready. (Some custom COs have different power cost and zone expansion thresholds)

  • @bleakhorizon521
    @bleakhorizon521 Год назад +9

    Decently competitive player here.
    CO mechanics wise, you gain meter by doing damage, and it is calculated by raw damage, not value.
    You get your first COZ expansion at 30 energy and second at 60.
    In your case, you didn't killed 3 units with Tabitha, you killed 2 and did 8 damage to another, leaving you at 28 energy, just short of your first COZ expansion.
    As you noted yourself, your units build is not optimal, especially with Tabitha. She is extremely oppressive early game but falls off hard later since her zone only affects herself. So you need to push your advantage hard early, usually by rushing out a tank, maybe even downgrading some bikes into infantries to do so.
    If she gets to COZ 1, she is the best CO in the game by a good margin.
    Building other tanks to join in with Tabitha, keeping her alive can be a good strategy, but on two bases map be careful not to fall too far behind in unit count.
    A Md tank is a very good COU backup, so good on you for that.
    Those are the big things in addition to what you pointed out yourself.
    Good game, hope to see more DoR content!

    Love DoR, Fog of war actually fair and balanced. once you saw a tile that turn it stays revealed unlike old Advance wars where it would be shrouded again upon moving a unit. Also doing a drive by with a recon would reveal 5x5 around every tile it traversed including hidden tiles it passes by. Made me love playing fog of war in DoR.

    I have been waiting for this one. I've come to really like competitive DoR and after watching this game a couple of quick tips I would give for DoR would be:
    -Anti tanks are really strong, but they are super slow and can be crippled by just a couple of infantry if they are not positioned right. They are usually built as more of a defensive unit for when the enemy is pushing deep into your territory.
    -I usually find it better to wait for myself to have a couple of power units before I build the flare so it can be used to support them instead of going agro with it early when your opponent will likely have something like 2 tanks as opposed to your 1 tank and flare.
    - Finally if you want an idea of how strong the COs are I have my personal power rankings for them after a good number of games on this site (Some people will probably disagree with this overall, but it should give you the general idea, and I'm also ranking some of the custom COs as well.
    Tier 0
    -Zhaotiantong (I would almost consider him like the Colin or Hachi of DoR. I don't know what they were thinking with this one but I would ban him in pretty much every competitive game.)
    Tier 1
    -Isabella
    -Brenner
    Tier 2
    -Forsythe
    -Caulder
    -Tabitha
    -Lin
    -Will
    -Mira
    Tier 3
    -Penny (I would say either the strongest tier 3 or weakest tier 2)
    -Hawke (Yeah, they put Hawke in TinyWars, but he doesn't perform as well as he does in AWBW.)
    -Waylon
    -Gage
    -Grat
    Tier 4
    -Tasha (Everything she can do Tabitha does better. Bad CO zone and power. Maybe if both Tabitha and Lin get banned in a competitive match she could do stuff, but overall she is trash tier.)
    -Greyfield
    Hope some of this info helps and I hope there is more TinyWars content in the future. :)

    • @damd9185
      @damd9185 Год назад +2

      Curious how Brenner is a tier 1, did they buff him in any way in that site?

    • @Shanebomb11
      @Shanebomb11 Год назад +5

      @@damd9185 Brenner is so strong because having a starting zone of 3 that boosts all units is very useful. His zone can grow up to 5 and since his zone is so big it is very easy for him to gain charge and in the right circumstances will possibly be able to spam his power and keep healing his units. Yes, 3 hp global heal may not seem as impressive as powers from COs like Isabella and Tabitha, but it is very easy to get and once global healing hits 3, that's when you really can feel it and has turned the tables of games more often than you might think; like being able to cap and enemy city with DoRs fog mechanics makes it much more of a blow to your opponent. Brenner's zone and power might not seem that great, but in the actual game it all comes together really well and makes him one of the best COs in the game.

    • @commanderluciel816
      @commanderluciel816 Год назад +4

    • @alexisbaz8746
      @alexisbaz8746 Год назад

      @@commanderluciel816 yeah, he is really obnoxious, the more you atack him the more charge he gains and the more he heals, and is not that bad reseting is COZ with an SCOP because his zone is big in base, and he is super easy to use to.

  • @crisis8v88
    @crisis8v88 Год назад

    This doesn't apply as much for Tabitha, but one reason why you want your CO in a direct combat unit (or at least a fast movement speed unit) is so that you can start the turn with your CO zone in one area, do some fighting there, then reposition your CO unit to give the zone's benefits to units in another area.
    Also, CO zones grow by +1 range when you reach half power and +2 range when you reach full power. So, for Tabitha to get her +1 range, she needs to deal 30 HP of damage with the unit she's in. @26:44, where you're wondering about the CO zone range, your Medium Tank only did 18 HP of damage at this point. That's why Tabitha likes strong, flexible attacking units because it takes a minimum of three turns to get the range increase where some other COs can fill their entire meter in two turns.

    14:52, So you didn't see the co unit as you were attacking so it didn't include that in the damage prediction. And also, you didn't have vision of the Com tower either, so it took into account the fact that you had a com tower and that he didn't

    • @Calponi
      @Calponi Год назад +4

      It is a problem once you consider Tabatha/Caulder and other being banned and therefor matchups where it impacts greater. In TinyWars every player gets to ban up to 6 CO's before either player gets to choose any. CO's like Fortsythe and Mira (TinWars only) have Zones of 5 and 6 respectively (6 is the hard-maximum, and Fortsythe doesn't gain Energy), which is an unequal advantage on FoW maps against players like Wil or Grat (TinyWars only), with Wil going from 2 to 4 Zone, while Grat, much like Tabatha, goes from 0 to 2 (for that her melee units get to range, and ranged units gain extra range). Being able to only potentially tell after the fact with no true indicator of the Enemy boarded CO's position (you could be deep in, or at the very Edge of a large CO Zone when attacking) breaks the balancing of Low Zone v. Large Zone and No-Zone v. Any-Zone.
      It gets even more hilarious. Imagine you're on a standart (not FoW) map with heavy Water. Submarines that got build actually get build already underwater in TinyWars. So, you can't see it. Then, if you board a CO inside, both the Submarine and CO-Zone remain *entirely* Invisible. So, let's think about Mira of Fortsythe here, being on a map at least half covered in Water. At any one time during combat, you get false projections, informing you (after the fact) that the attacked unit is inside the CO-Zone. Then let's say you attack a second unit and threw some mind bending triangulations can tell where the unit should be rn. Because it is a Submarine that is Underwater (with its own inherent advantages on Water) you need to.
      1.) Break through the enemy line
      2.) bring a spotter unit to the position of the sub, even if you can see the tile of the sub,
      3.) Bring a stinkin' Cruiser, because that's the only thing that will damage a Veteran-Sub
      4.) Bring a second Cruiser, because a Veteran Sub will not be dead by a single Cruiser
      And all that without any clear indication of a CO-Zone presence or the exact location of the unit. I am of course discribing here problems that are amplified by how FoW maps and CO-Zones interact. I think the DoR original solution of you just seeing a CO-Zone if a tile you can see is affected by it is the best one. That means that a submarine Standart will reveal the entire CO-Zone on and around itself the moment it is boarded, which is fair, because it's a setting that at least expects you to see each others Zone's. I mean damn. If a really good Water map gets made, I don't want it to be hampered down by a decision to not inform players about what it is that they're planning about. That's not Tactics at that point, and purely a mix of luck and player bullying each other with invisible CO-Zones
      Hell, even a drastic Solution like "Always see the entire enemy CO-Zone, regardless of all factors (you obviously don't see the underwater Sub / Unit in Ruins/Forest/Town, but its Zone) and how far away it is even in FoW, would in my eyes be preferable to the current situation. I'd rather have the opponent see my CO-Zone moving about the map than not see his CO-Zone at all until I am looking at the *revealed* unit. I only offer this because I presume a difficulty in engine that prevents us to do it like in DoR, where you just see a colored tile on any tile which is currently affected by opponent Co-Zone, if you can see said tile.

    YOOOOOOOOO you played on one of my maps! That alone has me pretty hyped! This was actually my first map that got accepted to the site, and I spent a long time on it. Apologies for the confusion with the beaches around the airport lol. I agree that AWBW's custom shoal tiles are way easier to read!
    I want to stress that the game DOES keep the enemy CO Zone in mind IF you can see the enemy CO unit. If you go back, you will notice that you did NOT have vision on the enemy CO unit before attacking (The flare missed it by one tile). If you had seen it, the damage preview would have taken into account the CO zone (The same is true of enemy com towers that you don't have vision on since the game only assumes info that it knows you already have).
    Great battle! I'm working on a "crash course" video right now that will help AWBW players learn Days of Ruin a little more quickly (Like what units have been buffed/nerfed, what the new units do, how the new terrain and COs work, etc.). I will send it your way once it's ready!

    Mangs, you did NOT spot the CO unit in this situation, you can see the fog in the replay, your flare didn't hit it, and nothing was in vision range of it before you attacked with your tank.

    caulder usually has a 3 zone with +60/60 to all units and 5 repair. War tanks actually have very similar stats to AW2 Medium tanks (they do 85 to normal tanks and normal tanks do 15 to war tanks just like AW2 tank vs md tank), they just have 1 less move and trade a bit less well against copters (just like any tank does compared to AW2). the way the CO charge works: units inside the CO-Zone have to do 30HP of damage to charge by 1 and 60HP to charge by 2. counterattack damage only counts if the enemy unit is also inside your CO-Zone (at least in the base game, might be different on this version) also Flares are actually decent at fighting any ground unit aside from tanks. they even trade very well against anti air and mechs if they get the first strike. also playing Tabitha requires a lot of skill. fog of war hurts her a lot because you pretty much always need to make sure that her co unit survives. tabitha's win condition is to get the zone charged to 1 and steamroll from there. when playing against tabi, you gotta make sure that you never leave any units in range of her co unit without proper guarding from things like artillery and other things. and possibly snipe the co unit if she makes a mistake. you should always deploy tabi into any form of tank and have some more tanks around to join into her if she gets too damaged. make sure you have anti air or if you can afford it dusters by her co unit to protect her from b-copters. putting her in any indirect weapon other than maybe a b-ship is just bad cause your opponent can just always avoid that one unit and never let you charge your power. to make tabi work you really gotta outplay your opponent.

    You have to play Tabitha differently from other COs. You'll never get her SCOP, so instead you put her on fast and cheap units and harass with her until she dies and repeat. She is actually not that great it turns out. TW Caulder is also easy to cheese because you can severely wound everything in his death ball and just drain all his funds.

  • @4shadow100
    @4shadow100 Год назад +1

    Try building at least 1 rig so that not only can it resupply a flare but you can also decide to strategically place a temp airport or temp port if not to repair/resupply units but more importantly to have a place to hide in fog of war. Even if the opponent knows where your unit is hiding they still need to waste a unit move to reveal it. Temp (air)ports also don't have the same movement penalty on wheeled units like plains do so there is another benefit. Flares are also beefier than recons so don't be afraid to use them to attack infantry or even light vehicle units instead of using the flare itself.

    From what I've seen on Deejus' channel it looks like teching up is way more significant in Days of Ruin, but that might just be from his matches.
    At the very least, it has a major thing where snowballing matches seem almost encouraged. The CO mechanics are shifted from the original ideas of them being comeback mechanics into something that provides more advantages to the winning player, as do the Rank Up mechanics.

  • @subbie-eye
    @subbie-eye Год назад +1

    I only just created an account a few days ago after Deejus made his latest video. Some differences between AWBW and Tinywars, but there should be similarities in principles applied.
    But enough babbling from me. Sub-nalysis time. Skipping map analysis since I have yet to play any games there.
    3:32 Given how fire power and defence works in this game vs AWBW, it may make good sense to consider a comm tower cap on the way. My understanding is that any defence cancels out firepower increments first arithmetically before eating into base firepower rather than taking bites out of both base firepower and any firepower increments. (Correct me if I am wrong on this.) Still, at base, income still speaks louder
    3:58 I have not done a terrain study on this, but this place feels like a place to capture later with maybe your 3rd to 4th infantry if you have no other paths. Or rather, if you want to go bike on the other base. Still, not the worse place to park an injured battle copter or duster if you want to keep your air units up a little bit longer. It certainly is better than AWBW whereby if your air units are weakened you can't bring them back up.
    4:30 These balance changes are looking really spritely! Might make it more fun.
    My guess looking at Tabitha (I have limited DoR experience, and virtually none in the PvP context). It means that whichever unit you pick will be strong, problem is that in order to generate charge, you need to get this unit actively involved, which no sane player will try to attack. So player phase unit effectively, the charge and co zone will increase very slowly as a result. What this means is that in a close formation, I can easily calculate trades on your surrounding units and take a hit vs this CO unit so long as I don't give it too many free shots (3 full hp units before expanding zone which is ok, but not very substantial, and 6 full hp units before it becomes a bigger threat/CO power). It's a bit like going up vs an MD tank + 4 infantry vs 5 tanks. Your 5 tanks will wreck the infantry and the MD Tank can only pick off one at a time or wounding them enough.
    6:09 Match start
    6:50 OK, about bikes. I love them when I was looking DoR let's plays (including yours), but as you mentioned knowing when to deploy them vs infantry is key. I say it depends on the game tempo you want to play or the objectives you want to achieve. Infantry walling and protecting expensive units has some uses here still despite the changes in mechanics, and I am sure you don't want to wall with bikes.
    9:10 Flare opener... Good for intel vs the risky recon which could get a tank surprise. Still, a flare now is a recon or tank you don't have, and while knowing what your opponent is up to is important in fog, if you don't have the proper response unit, then this is tempo losing. I would use a flare later (in theory) if I need vision in a key area for combat, or earlier if a map provides for multiple viable openings.
    11:30 CO Zone remains relatively stable for Caulde, but to be honest, a 2 range CO zone is often good enough to take on most engagements, especially in close quarters. It can mess up build order, but only if teching up or building up your force is your main priority. If you have a lot of units in need of a heal on the front lines, this CO Zone can work really well vs waiting a few turns for your units to come from the bases.You can say that Caulder is a bit more aggro due to this since his healed units can dictate key tempo.
    13:03 Deejus mentioned this point as much, targeting the CO is a viable strategem idea. But it is, of course, not the only idea, as AWBW experience suggests. Decide accordingly.
    14:53 Flare vision did not uncover the tank, so the UI does not reflect this. I personally would consider attacking the bike from the mountain with the infantry there to get even more vision before commencing an attack.
    16:40 It does look like Deej is overextending.
    17:05 I think this is a potential tell that defence here does not work similarly to AWBW. Because if it does, the tank would be a lot healthier.
    18:17 Good job on this. Deejus having an HQ tank is more on his playstyle rather than an error. It will still damage his build and his front line units won't get healed with the CO zone gone. Of course, you will need to trade your CO unit tank away for that means you need to build charge again. If getting the CO zone up is your main strategy, then I would question if this is what you want.
    20:55 It kind of works for him because as Caulder, you don't need to worry about power charge, more like you need to ensure that you have steady units to apply pressure onto front lines with your CO unit as support.
    21:30 It is not supposed to. Base Damage Chart, so you have to math here.
    22:35 Not sure if I like this trade. B Copter for B Copter, Tank for Anti Air, typically on 2 base maps and in DoR settings, you will want to take on engagements whereby you can preserve units when you can, especially in fog when you are certain that you can keep your veteran units alive.
    22:54 Not sure if you can move and shoot with a flare.
    24:01 No, you need to move your Flare. Flare spots only cover 2 range.
    26:00 I think tanks have 2 vision too.
    26:45 Someone did not watch the 1300 MMR video.
