Wow.. So humble.. Knowing your faults and having people calling you a legend etc must be difficult and its clear to see he's uncomfortable talking about such things.. Need more documentaries on his music rather than tabloid fodder..
And contrary to what i said, this Man, Did Save My Life.!!!

He needs to stop drinking. It's often the last and hardest for somebody who has used substances all their adult life. It will drag you back to all the other substances unless it is gone. He looks like a man who is in a state of flux, neither fully committed to a clean life nor willing to slide back into hard drugs. Alcohol won't help. After seeing him in the Louis Theroux interview I really felt for him. He looked scared and uneasy at times, the most relaxed and happy he looked was after the gig when he was smashed. I hope he commits to a completely clean life. It's all there for him but it's also all there to loose. Pete has come a long way and has a long way to go. Good luck.

Wow, this resonated hard. I watched the Theroux thing and sat and lamented ‘how well he was doing’and ‘how well he looked’ whilst sitting nursing my glass, 2 years clean of hard substances 😢

This is a thoughtful and insightful comment, and something I also felt uneasy about. I'm not sure whether this is coming from my subjective experiences with alcoholics, but I could feel the uneasiness you picked up in the Louis interview. There is something unique about Pete, very likeable and it's clear he has an expansive mind and imagination. Whatever the reasons, there is undoubtedly serious addiction issues with him, and if it's not hard drugs it would be something else (which is alcohol in this case).
It's really wonderful he got to find love with a woman who was prepared to get into a potentially damaging relationship, and find a way to balance accepting him as he was along with genuine concern for his well-being. It's obvious she was/ is no fool and knew what she was getting into, and took that risk.
If it wasn't for the fact they have created a different life and family unit, with a beautiful child, it wouldn't be so important to take alcohol just as seriously as hard drugs. For a developing child, it's just as harmful growing up with an alcoholic parent as hard drugs. It doesn't matter whether he's a 'nice drunk', it will take a toll on his marriage and his health.
I genuinely hope he can recognize this himself, and take the necessary steps to face the same demons behind his drug use.
There is a lot of pain there, or a spark missing, if he could tackle the underlying roots of his addiction he would get that light back

You'll get there, just remember you are loved no matter what. I've been at it since 1995 and I'm same age as Peter. I've lived two lives in the last 28 years, I have regrets but have lots of great memories too. I don't let the negatives get me down. No time to be unhappy and miserable when you have a dope habit. If you do You'll suffer more, I've accepted it a long time ago.

as a recovering heroin addict i watched this in utter horror. the insanity, mess, filth of addiction is beautifully exposed in it. i can relate to the denial, phony procrastination, crap philosophy and shite poetry all i can relate. i feel pity x his french wife and daughter, held captives to his disease. a horror show. rere, 20 years clean.
