Might be an old video, but I DO believe an AK is still an AK. Thanks for this video. The pin retainer spring in my Chinese AK is slightly different, but this video gave me all I needed today to take the guts out of my AK. Had never done it before, in all these years. Thanks-!
Honestly, I wasn't waiting for the spring to slap you. I didn't laugh when it did, but I did laugh when you called us fuckers. Fine sense of humor. Enjoyed the video.
Thank you! I tried hard to make sure I made the best video possible since this is such a confusing and technical thing to do for some people. I appreciate the kind compliment.
thanks! this is the most thorough video on replacing a trigger. Most install vids already have a retainer plate so they don't show how to swap the retainer spring.
Great video for those of us new to AKs. I have been avoiding any trigger work on my AKs because of unfamiliarity, but this video has helped tremendously!!
Thanks for the laugh at the 8:30 mark. Your video has the best camera angles of an AK trigger replacement that I’ve seen and will help me immensely on my first trigger swap that I’m about to do. Thank you Sir.
Idk if you make videos anymore but I just wanted to say you were the very first person that taught me how to build ars years ago. I have now grown away from them and I’m in the ak world, your video popped up in my recommended videos and I was like “hell yea!” Haha thanks for the info man.
You are very welcome! This is the exact reason I put up this video (as well as all my other how-to videos) is to help people. I am glad you found it helpful!
Your video was outstanding, I just finished putting a Tapco G2 trigger and Krebs trigger pin retaining plate and they fit perfect. I did not use a rubber band, I used a plastic zip tie and cut them off with a scissor. Thank you for making it easy for this old Grunt.
Honestly best video on youtube I ever saw, you save my rifle! I got damaged hammer on brand new Century arms rifle after 800 shots. Watched your video and got Tapco installed! Thanks a lot man, great skills and job!
You are welcome! Thank you for the kind words and for watching! The retainer is SOO easy to put in that there was no point in me putting in the effort to move the camera. You will have no problems getting it in ;-)
Sir, this is an excellent video. Great close ups, great angles, really shows someone how to remove and install the FCG on an AK. My hats off. Thank you so much for posting, it was a giant help.
Hey, thanks! I appreciate the kind words and feedback! I always strive to produce good content and hearing back from you like this is awesome. Thank you :)
You saved my life. Turned out one of those trigger cords that sit over the plates was underneath them for some reason, preventing it from wiggling, and preventing me from removing my safety lever. This video helped me correct that!
Because I shoot corrosive ammunition out of this rifle almost exclusively, the retaining plate allows for easier removal and installation of the FCG. The "shepard's hook" isn't necessarily hard to install, but just takes too much time to do it all the time/each time.
nsz85: Thank you so much for posting this video..!! I have an older WASR 10 (2003) and I just replaced the old slap-happy trigger with a Tapco G2 and Kreb's retainer plate. I held my hand over the trigger when I removed the pin and the spring didn't fly like it did on you in this video. No problems getting smacked with the hammer spring. The only thing I did different was I completely removed the "hook" (which was easy) before removing all the old parts. What a freakin difference this G2 makes..!! Thanks again.!!! STLSNIPER.
I know this video is a few years old, but thanks man. I was thinking about doing my own build but never have before and the way the spring looks was intimidating. Not worried about it now.
Lol, yeah everyone likes that part when I get smacked. I left it in to show that it can happen to anyone and to be careful. I am glad you found this video helpful. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
As i watch this i laugh as the trigger spring slaps you and then i slap the living shit out of myself with mine. Not so funny when i'm the one with the welt
thank you for this video I was cleaning my ak and stupidly pulled my safety all the way up and my whole trigger group fell out. After cursig for awhile I found your video and got it all back together...saving to favorites for my next stupid move
Thanks for putting up this video Bro! Just changed out my SGL-21's FCG and retainer pin with a G2 and Kerbs retainer plate. It's like a whole new rifle! You also helped me assemble my AR-15 lower in one of your other videos. Thanks for sharing the knowledge and keep up the good work!
Shooting my Garaysar AK47 12 GA. those pins came loose and the hammer and the trigger all turned sideways! Had no idea how those hammer springs were suppose to sit - Now I know! Great video very easy to see how it all comes together! Thanks for taking the time to make and post it!
Glad I found your video..just got a Tapco trigger to replace the original one in my Arsenal AK...your video was very informative and you made it look pretty easy...thanks again..
Well, I tried the FCG change today. Just like the video, but I have some issues, but not related to video. My rubber band broke early so I used a small tie to hold the springs. Just a snip when done. I was quite pleased with the ties. Thanks again.
Nice video and demonstration. Question please? You did not adjust the camera when you installed the pin retaining spring so we could see how it was done. The camera angle was from the top looking down and not from the side. Could you please show that procedure? Thanks
So, I'm former military... having said that. The cussing and joking, definitely made things clearer. Lol. Top notch brotha! Also, gotta say that i really like the camera angles, all the other videos are shit with angles.
I've never had any issues with my 4 rifles that have Tapco G2 DH triggers. However, I did swap out the group from my Yugo with a Red Star group and WOW, what a difference. If you ever have the opportunity to run a Red Star, DO IT!
I have a G2 in my AKM I love it. Then when I got my AES 10 RPK It had the original Romanian trigger group and the trigger slaps horrible so needless to say I ordered it its coming in the mail soon I can't wait to install it thanks for posting this video always nice to see how other people do things
Plus I ordered to of the tapco retaining plates going to change those out as well I didn't see the brand you are using but anything is better then the fail springs lol thanks again going to like this video
Thank you for the positive feedback. I made this video in an attempt to show EXACTLY what and how to do a trigger group/fire control group replacement. I am glad you found it helpful!
Thank you very much,,, I put my G2 in my I.O. Hellhound AK without any problems. I followed your video step by step and got it done. I'm looking forward to testing it out, I had bad trigger slap with the old trigger. Thanks again!
Thanks buddy, converting a sa2000 soon. parts-a-comin. Gonna do a vid and for sure send props to you for this information. I really appreciate you taking time to make vids like this for beginners like me.
Thanks for this video. Much appreciated over other videos that emphasize sounding slick and doing things at speed (I believe the term is “flexing”) with constant facetious apologies over poor camera angles and lighting.
"Rubber mallet just in case I've got to whack some shit." Amen, brother! No way one can re-install a Magpul stock on an AK without one! A rubber mallet is your friend.
you have no idea how much that helped, just got mine in thanks to you. good heads up on the Krebs, put that I too. just so you know I paid the price for laughing the spring got me too. thanks again bud
Another exceptional instructional video my man, can't thank you enough. This is actually better and more clear than the video Iraqveteran8888 made of the same operation!!!
Great video! That made my life a whole lot easier. I have a PSL-54C (Giant AK), and the trigger was crap. Dropped in a Tapco G2 in 20 minutes thanks to your instruction; sorry you got whacked by that spring. Thanks again!!
That was very helpful. Would like to have seen the camera angle from the right when putting in retainer. My Krebs retaininer is due in tomorrow, and I will probably watch 50 more times until the big change out. You did a very nice job, thank you.
I have never had to stop a "how-to" video before because I was laughing so hard. You could not have planned that spring slapping you right at that moment.
I just put this on my arsenal SLR 107R AK47.. Both fit well and the trigger pull is amazing on the TAPCO G2 Trigger ... I notice some of the other videos they have a different spring setups and use a tapco plate.. I was not sure which plate to get for mine so i just went with the same set up because i see your spring setup is the the same as mine.
nsz85 It was cool, I looked into a few things before from your channel about the AR15 and then when I looked into the AK I reconized your thumbnail and boom, now you will have an always active SUB!!!
Great stuff!! So much better than pictures and steps in a book. I love the rubber band trick.😅 The book I have doesn't say anything about keeping the legs of the hammer spring captive.
I've always liked your videos. I was happy to find this one to satisfy my latest AK obsession. You were terrific in 2012, and even better now! Would love to see more AK vids.
I AM VERY GLAD THAT I COULD HELP! LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AS I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU! THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME HOW MUCH FUN CAPS LOCK CAN BE!
this video helped me tremendously and I appreciated But I have a question watching this video to install my new ALG trigger in my AK47 installation one perfect no issues at all today I went to the range and And I had just a couple light primer strikes it seems that my hammer May be getting caught on the recoil Spring Not allowing it to strike forward enough to go bang I was using some older imported ammo at 1st I thought well maybe it was a hard primer and I guess maybe it could-be because it only happen Maybe 5 times out of 300 or so rounds By taking the dust cover off I did notice that The hammer was touching the top of the recoil Spring any ideas didn't happen before replacement
Two thumbs up on this video. I'm getting ready to install a binary trigger on my weapon and wanted to make sure I had the takedown fundamental correct. Thanks for posting your video.

Didn't expect to see you here hickok. Keep doing what you do!
@@christopherwilliams6048 right , awesomeness here. 🧐🙌🙌🙌
underrated comment, and the humbleness is just what you'd expect from a gentleman
Legend
I wonder if that's the one you (hickok45) made full-auto (legally).
Ten years later a legend blows in..
Honestly, I wasn't waiting for the spring to slap you. I didn't laugh when it did, but I did laugh when you called us fuckers. Fine sense of humor. Enjoyed the video.
Same!
At 8:35 spring slams and calls us fuckers😂😂😂
Spring smacking you after you said you knew we wanted to see it may be the best unintentional comedic moment I’ve seen all year.
I laughed so hard when the spring gotcha!
Thanks for the video, I've been hesitant to replace my AK trigger. But I'm over the fear now.
Lul Llipop You are welcome ;-)
Thank you! I tried hard to make sure I made the best video possible since this is such a confusing and technical thing to do for some people. I appreciate the kind compliment.
Yep, 12 years later and you're still helping people. Kudos.
thanks! this is the most thorough video on replacing a trigger. Most install vids already have a retainer plate so they don't show how to swap the retainer spring.
Well done sir. Very easy to follow video and you stay on the topic at hand not a bunch of rambling like you see in a lot of videos.
+James Herman Happy I could help!
Precisely right!!! So much needless rambling and other videos.
Great video for those of us new to AKs. I have been avoiding any trigger work on my AKs because of unfamiliarity, but this video has helped tremendously!!

I am very happy that this video helped you out. I know how it is...I didn't learn everything overnight! Thank you for watching :)
❤

Excellent and informative video! Thank you so much for making this project a lot less daunting to someone who has no gunsmithing experience!
Gahechi Esmichi You are very welcome, I am glad you enjoyed it!
08/14/2021 I just fixed my trigger pins, thanks for this video! I hope you see this and know you are helping even years later.
You are very welcome! This is the exact reason I put up this video (as well as all my other how-to videos) is to help people. I am glad you found it helpful!
Thank you! I am glad I could help you out! I plan on doing another video on how to install one as well. Stay tuned! :)

Hey, thanks! I appreciate the kind words and feedback! I always strive to produce good content and hearing back from you like this is awesome. Thank you :)
My AK47 had a bad trigger slap. Installed the new G2 , and now it's really a light pull. Excellent video. Thanks from AZ!
You saved my life. Turned out one of those trigger cords that sit over the plates was underneath them for some reason, preventing it from wiggling, and preventing me from removing my safety lever. This video helped me correct that!
I am glad my video was helpful!! Thank you for watching!
Great video, I just installed a g2 tapco in my ak using this video. It was very helpful. The trigger was the best 35 bucks I've spent in a while.
Because I shoot corrosive ammunition out of this rifle almost exclusively, the retaining plate allows for easier removal and installation of the FCG. The "shepard's hook" isn't necessarily hard to install, but just takes too much time to do it all the time/each time.

The video quality in this is first rate, good job my friend. BTW I wasn't hoping you'd get slapped by the hammer spring :-)
+Rich McIntyre Haha!
Me either. Great job, Great vid.
Thanks for alerting me to the Krebs retainer, does it count as a US part?
Great video. A lot of people think AK triggers cant be replaced thinking the pins are permanent. Looks as easy as any AR trigger setup.
I recommend that you do some research and decide if you want to switch it out or not. I decided to switch mine out for a few reasons.
As i watch this i laugh as the trigger spring slaps you and then i slap the living shit out of myself with mine. Not so funny when i'm the one with the welt
I noticed it requires more cussing to do an AK-47 than an AR-15 lol thanks
@@kiheirc3195 So worth it though. So so worth it.
thank you for this video I was cleaning my ak and stupidly pulled my safety all the way up and my whole trigger group fell out. After cursig for awhile I found your video and got it all back together...saving to favorites for my next stupid move
This shit isn't as complicated as I thought. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video my trigger assembly fell out of nowhere after i had replaced the safety lever. Had no idea what to do till i saw this vid.
Still one of the best videos ever on the subject.
Using this vid as a guide for disassembly/reassembly of my V12. First AK variant I ever touched. This Vid helped me on more than one occasion

I'm about to change my existing Tapco G2 to a RAK 1. Your video is very informative and helpful. Thanks
Glad I found your video..just got a Tapco trigger to replace the original one in my Arsenal AK...your video was very informative and you made it look pretty easy...thanks again..
tgilbert47 Thanks! I am glad you liked it.
Thanks, Jim. It is a Tipton Best Gun Vise, and I got it from my best man as a wedding present :)
Came back today for a "refresher". Didn't get bit this time! Thanks again!
Was a nice day today, so i figured i would stay inside and try to get the AK back together. This video made it possible. Thank's.
Wow, not going to lie..hearing that from you is quite humbling, Sir! Thank you!
Thank you! This was just what I was looking for. Nice quality video as well with great camera angles! The spring got me too!
Haha, no problem. You are welcome, and thank you for watching!
Great video man . For someone who has never taken a trigger out I did it with no problems . Thanks brother
Fantastic tutorial. Just installed my G2 in my arsenal and it was super easy thanks to you.
Fantastic video. Great camera angles and clear explanation. Thank you.
Did exactly what you did, and swapped my trigger/hammer in less than an hour. This video is so good. 762 thanks!!
Well, I tried the FCG change today. Just like the video, but I have some issues, but not related to video. My rubber band broke early so I used a small tie to hold the springs. Just a snip when done. I was quite pleased with the ties. Thanks again.

you make the most useful AK vids on the block. Super helpful, thanks.

Best AK trigger install tutorial on YT! Nicely done.

Great video. Not too long yet detailed. Also a sense of humor!
Today thanks to you, I was able to remove the trigger components, clean the receiver (first time) of my sgl31. Thank you sir!
Great video , thank you . That stock spring hurts like hell but if you really want some pain try the ALG spring . Make a grown man cry 😭
Oh yeah ! ALG spring is a lot stronger
Thanks buddy, converting a sa2000 soon. parts-a-comin. Gonna do a vid and for sure send props to you for this information. I really appreciate you taking time to make vids like this for beginners like me.

you have no idea how much that helped, just got mine in thanks to you. good heads up on the Krebs, put that I too. just so you know I paid the price for laughing the spring got me too. thanks again bud
I use a twist tie instead of a rubber band. Good camera angles and good job explaining. The Shepard's pin can be a real pain.
I'm getting ready to start my build on my Romanian mod63, barrel and receiver is on its way. Can't wait to get started!

Yup, there are variations but they all do the same thing. Your is probably one made by Tapco that goes up and is held in by the safety lever.
I have never had to stop a "how-to" video before because I was laughing so hard. You could not have planned that spring slapping you right at that moment.
You are welcome, and I am not sure on the FIME. My gut tells me that it would fit just fine.
I just put this on my arsenal SLR 107R AK47.. Both fit well and the trigger pull is amazing on the TAPCO G2 Trigger ... Excellent video, thank you! Very clear, good tips, and shops entire process. I'll be watching this video again when I get my own SGL and replace the trigger.
