Cool. Ecuador is on our list but haven't made it yet and will be delayed with the cartel issues. We like Costa Rica but it's expensive. It would be great to add in a medical/dental component. Thanks!

      Thanks so much for watching.
We were certainly fortunate to have lived in Ecuador right before all the problems started increasing. That gave us a good taste for the country and regions in the country that we liked. There is SO much biodiversity there, it was surprising. Probably because Ecuador kind of flies "under the radar", not any people talk about it. It was eye opening.
We loved Costa Rica so much also! It's kind of frustrating that a person would heva to search pretty long and hard to find an "undiscovered" and low cost of living place there any more.
We have several other videos on our channel, both on CR and on Ecuador. We'd be happy to share our additional knowledge on the countries with you through them, Maybe the best way is through one of our playlists?? Here is the Ecuador series:

I live in Costa Rica and if you come here it not have to be expensive if you choose options that locals select.
For example, if you need to go to a place to eat, you should not go to restaurants, you should visit a “soda” that is like a small restaurant usually owned by a local family that most of the members in that family work there. It usually offer typical food and usually the food in there is delicious. You should select the ones that has more people there. These “sodas” are supervise by the Health Ministry, so they have to follow the guidelines established by this Ministry otherwise if they don’t obey them, this Ministry will close the place, so don’t worry, you will not get sick by eating in “sodas” are very clean and well trained.
Also, is you want to reserve an accommodation, is better to not reserve in a hotel, you should reserve in “cabinas” that are like small hotels, usually owned by locals, but that are very clean and that cost less than half the price of an hotel. Also you could rent an AirBNB. Don’t reserve accommodations very close to the main touristic places, because that increases a lot the price, for example if you are going to Manuel Antonio, you could reserve at Quepos, that is only 15 minutes from Manuel Antonio, it has a lot of accomodarions, bars and restaurants that are half the price from the ones in Manuel Antonio. That occurs in most of the touristic places, in the main touristic place is very expensive everything, but like 15 minutes ago, the price will be a lot less. In Costa Rica the beaches are not private and they are very close one from another, so most of the time you will be travelling to see many beaches and parks and other attractions, so it not worth to paid an accomodation in a very touristic place, because most of the time you will no be there.
      Kind regards and pura vida!

Well firstly thanks so much for the positive comments and you're very welcome.
Yeah, no matter what the prices are you pretty much HAVE to go to Costa Rica to experience it for yourself! We would just recommend staying outside of the large tourist and expat concentrations for renting and eating as much as you can.
The country as a whole though is incredible and diverse and awesome.
Keep us posted on your travels, we'd love to hear your perspective and comparison on the two countries after you've lived in both.
Happy and safe travels to you, and welcome to our channel!

I travel a lot, and Costa Rica is a place you must visit, not only for its beauty, but also because we love tourists and treat them as they are our family. You will no regret if you visit our country.

I compared these 2 countries too. I would stay from January to May in San José, Costa Rica and stay in Quito, Ecuador from June to August. Just to get away from rain.

Hi Doug yes they do! What an awesome change for travelers. We just may go back one year because of that. The ease of entering and being allowed to stay for such a long time is very appealing.
What do you mean about "180 days allowed driving on your visa"?

@@PlanFree means they also updated the drivers license provision so you can drive on your foreign DL the entire 180 days now (the change from 90 on that was delayed and didn't start w/the visa change)

Hi there! How ARE you? We haven't heard from you in a while, how nice.
Yes for sure! We are so incredibly fortunate to have been able to visit Ecuador before things escalated. It even seems a tad funny (def ironic!) that we put out our "Is Ecuador Dangerous" video just after returning to Canada from 6 months in Ecuador and all was more or less fine....and then, such a short time later, when deciding on what we wanted to talk abouot in THIS video.... we kind of HAD to say something....
Si very sad. There are some good and young people dying for trying to better the country. We pray they can come out of it soon and without any more violence.
Thank you for watching and checking in!

@FocusedFighter777 gosh yes, the evil can be mind boggling.
But there by the grace of God go I. The best things we can do is to check our selves every day, in the small things. Make sure we are behaving kindly toward others, even/especially in our own households. Changing OURSELVES to better this world.
