Ariel Helwani actually seems genuine about this. That's unfortunate that such an incident occurred and you can tell that he has a personal relationship, not just a business relationship.

Seemed like he was almost on the verge of tears tbh. I know he was out of breath, but seemed like he was choking up a little too. And it's understandable given how great of a guy Mayhem was (and probably still is, he's just lost).

It sucks to see Mayhem like that.
Depression and Anxiety often leads to depersonalisation. I think it's a good idea for him to spend some time off the spotlight. Time with his family or a close friend.

I really feel bad for Jason Miller ("mayhem").. he was a great fighter, he also had a show called "bully beatdown" which I thought was AWESOME (look it up if you haven't seen it). He had a long career and his body is so effed up. He also has a lot of baggage he's carrying around since before he entered the MMA scene, and then after leaving the MMA life for so long- It's a total shock to your psyche, what do you do next? How do you become "normal" again after for SO many years, especially after playing the part of that crazy, wild guy who kicks ass.. it's gotta mess with your head and I'm sure could make you bi-polar or have schizophrenia.. yeah he's made some dumb mistakes, but who hasn't.. just because he's famous and the spotlight is on him at all times, every little mistake is a huge story and told to everyone. He looks real depressed and seems lost like he doesn't know what to do next or what path he should go down in life.. I think he needs a therapist... Also, I've ALWAYS hated Dana White- he's like a douche bag, manipulative, dictator who has gotten so high off the power he has over these fighters! I feel like they should form a union, without all of these incredibly talented fighters that he's a dick to that fight under the name "UFC" and make him rich , he would be a nobody- just another prick feeling self-entitled..

Never been a big fan of Ariel Helwani, but I don't think many people could sit thru that and not lose composure. Have to respect the professionalism.

While I wouldn't support any claim that Mayhem is on the level with the likes of Kaufman, I think the spirit of the bit, which was pretty clearly in the Tony Clifton mold, was predicated on the idea of never breaking character; watch any number of Andy Kaufman interviews, and you will NEVER see him break character, or give up on a bit, regardless of how "nicely" he is asked to stop.

Why are people surprised by his actions? He was playing the "Lucky Patrick" role to get people talking. He is the same Mayhem. Nothing wrong with promoting the movie.

I think Ariel deserves some more respect. He ask questions to fighters that are antaginising and seemingly condescending but sometimes u gotta ask those questions. at least he cares about the athletes personally.

Some people need to stop feeling sorry for people who act like Mayhem. Acting like a child when you're an adult who's in the public eye is shameful.

I'm a huge, huge Mayhem Miller fan and have been watching him since he was in Icon Sport when I was eight years old. Watching that interview was crushing. I feel like I grew up with him, yeah he was just a fighter but its true. I mean I've been watching him forever so seeing him go from that to this was horrible. I mean I didn't even want to call myself a fan of his after seeing that interview. He needs help and he needs it now, and I want old Mayhem to come back

  • @ncf1

Wow.. Mayhem was *clearly* acting and in character... good LORD how could you not see this?? The only trouble is, he's not such a great actor, yet, but hopefully he will improve. But Ariel just did not get it at *all*. Unbelievable.
