Sorry to say this but every year we go through the same thing…a new design and it ends up looking the same..nothing new
Yup and then everyone buys it anyway. Still using a 6s and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. I only bought a 14 pro just to see what all the hubbub was about and honestly it just sits in the drawer for future use because there’s barely any difference and I’d rather have a headphone jack

Nokia had it 20 years ago. Like 6500 slider. I remember because I had one.
They're doing it mainly for the spacial video to force users to hold the phone on the correct side for it to work. People are used to holding the phone other way around in landscape because of the volume button capture

Steve Jobs envisioned a phone with no buttons and just a sheet of glass, yet now the design is MORE buttons? Wtf… he didn’t even like the buttons on the FIRST iPhone. Jobs would’ve never allowed this design.

They've technically gotten rid of the home button. So I guess you can say they sacrifice one for another.

The final design looks exactly like the nothing phone.
But the nothing phone is inspired by the iPhone 12 design wich is inspired by the iPhone 4 wich is inspired by a brick wich inspired Steve Jobs wich is inspired by a limited shape design wich is limited by the physical universe itself wich is inspired by god who was inspired by fractals wich are the perfect physical design to connect everything all at once 😮 ahhhhhhhh 🌀

The rings around the lenses on the current designs kind of annoy me, just because they are dust collectors.

How will the capture button work with cases I wonder? I expect the button will have to be exposed to allow for direct touch.

Honestly the capture button looks like it would be great for vertical photos and videos as well, it’s right where the thumb would rest when holding the bottom of the phone

Two types of people ^
My first impression on the first prototype design is that the camera looks like a vr visor, might even match the Vision Pro aesthetic lol.
That capture button is cool but they’ll have to figure out what to do with it in a case if it does anything more than take a picture.

I think the capture button should be a capacitive button with haptic feedback. It’s in a place that will be accidentally pressed often. Plus it would allow for more touch interaction and would likely be a cleaner look overall.

if base iPhone 16 lacks Telephoto lens and 120hz screen, that’s fine but they can’t charge $800 and 900 for phones such a lackluster hardware

Samsung probably have triple camera setup on there flagships becuase they DONT HAVE A PRO PHONE where as Apple does.

oh wow. i really like the "final" design. those bezzles are too big though. im a pro users and i love the thinner bezzels on my 15PM. it looks so imersive when apps take advatvage of the full screen. apps like instagram and even safai gives it the whole screen slab feel

Try Samsung . Better camera and better battery. Also I'm interested in learning the differences in Samsung and Apple and Samsung wins hands down. I like the colors of the phones but to me a phones a phone really .

Why wouldn’t they release a newer iPhone with ProMotion and the 13 PM and 14 PM have it? Did I misunderstand what you said? “Unfortunately no ProMotion until 120 HZ display”.

The capture button sounds stupid. I've been doing exactly that with the "volume up" button for years.

Most likely they’ll do model number 1 cus they do a major design overhaul every 5 years & so next year with the 17 they can place the lidar sensor in the blank space between the two cameras and call it an upgrade
Glad to see the vertical camera stack coming back, but it really does suck that we can't have promotion on the base/plus iPhone this year.

Case manufacturing companies will make a button side for the caption button

Prototype 1 was way more interesting and a significant improvement since last models
I like the vertical cameras, but I don't want an action button or a volume rocker.
I actually really want the green color back for the pro models that was on the 13 pro. That was a highly underrated color.
I’d prefer apple goin with the capture button to be like paddle triggers in gaming phone but no noticeable

Of course they’re making the battery smaller. They couldn’t have the second line phone having better performance, even battery life, than the Pro model.

Maybe they are going for the SONY Xperia series, they majorly used the pill shape camera module and they are also the one using the camera shutter button 😅😢.

When are we going to get an iPhone without cameras? I never use mine…and it seems like that’s the only highlighted feature year after year.
Love this Video Sam-Definitely some unique changes expected this year. Wonder what AI features has planned-Maybe some changes with the camera considering the design changes as well,but yeah spacial video does make sense as the most obvious reason to change the design!-Can’t wait to see these in September!-IOS 18 should give a good idea though of what to actually expect with AI!

I think the biggest change may be the iPhone 16 models all using the same generation A18 SoC, though the iPhone 16 Pro models will use a variant of the A16 with more CPU and GPU cores.

They should add Touch ID to that button instead of a capture button
And remove the cameras whilst simultaneously bringing ProMotion to base models…the real controversy. Tim is lacking and Steve would be upset seeing iPhone has become iCamera
That design look like a s24 or something of the sort I like the prototype with box and vertical cam inside which is old iPhone X and newer style in one… not too sure of a capture button with that could be programmed in the volumes rocker
battery life on iphone 14 pro is already not great,i hope they fix this with iphone 16 pro and pro max and we want pause button during recording,we cant make a nice long video because we must join every videos to one,its nightmare.
