    More information on Lara Fabian:
Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Lisa Fischer, ....
In my personal opinion, she is even the best.
There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 8,000 attendees.
Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register.
So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence:
    • she speaks 4 languages fluently (french, italian, english, spanish) and has sung in 12 languages in total
    • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for most her songs, in the 4 languages she speaks. She often co-composes the music with the composer.
    • she acts and performs on stage as nobody else, she colors and reveals the meaning of every single word in the songs, and her ability to emote, to draw you in is second to none
    • she is the sweetest soul on earth, very humble, down to earth and benevolent. She likes to meet others, and her fans are always pleasantly surprised when this happens
A quick background on her and her career:
She is belgian, but also has italian roots (her mother is from sicilia). She was raised in both countries so she speaks both french and italian as native languages.
She has been classically trained on vocal, piano and songs composition for 10 years ( from 8 to 18) in the Brussels Royal Conservatory. She is still having vocal lessons and training several times a week today.
She started her career in Canada in the early 90s, more precisely in Quebec, the french-speaking part of Canada. She now lives in Montreal and has also Canadian citizenship
She became very famous there and then conquered France in 1997 (she topped charts there and some of her songs such as "Je t'aime" or "Tout" became classics of the french music).
In 2000, she was about to penetrate the US Market, with a lot of media initial interest. Her first english song (I will love again), a pop dance song, reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her Album ("Lara Fabian") was about to become a massive hit, and the concert "From Lara With Love" was recorded to be broadcasted everywhere in the US. This concert is legendary and the song you just reviewed is from this concert.
But a dispute with Sony on artistry directions, and the will from Celine Dion's staff to block her progress in the US, completely broke this plan.
She thus refocused back on Europe and made huge success there, extending her reach to Eastern Europe and Central Asia where she became an absolute superstar thru her collaboration with Igor Krutoy during several years.
She is also a star in Brazil as her song "Love By Grace" used as the soundtrack for a very famous soap opera topped the charts for months.
Many of her songs became classics and were covered by the other singing legends: Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey, Josh Groban, …
With her success in Europe, Brazil and part of Asia, she is the inspiration of the new generation of vocalists: most of them are coming from there.
Thru their covers of Lara Fabian songs, USA and many other countries are now rediscovering her.
She is Dimash's idol: I’ve read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.
He covered many of her songs (that she performed originally ; she also wrote some of these).
Out of my mind I can list:
    • Adagio,
    • Mademoiselle Hyde,
    • Know,
    • Love of tired swans
She also wrote the lyrics of his song « Your Love ».
And she covered « Love is like a dream » before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva)
They also performed Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida Garafulina. This is a song that she performed originally with Dmitriy Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.
Dimash is now also working with Igor Krutoy who came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him.
Many other top vocalists from the current generation covered her songs:
    • Floor Jansen (Adagio),
    • Polina Gagarina (Adagio, Je t’aime),
    • Diana Ankudinova (Tomorrow is a lie),
    • Morissette Amon (Broken Vow),
    • Gabriel Henrique (Love by Grace),
    • Cakra Khan (Broken Vow),
    • Katrina Velarde (Broken Vow)
    • Giulia Falcone (Adagio, Caruso, Je suis malade),
    • Almira (from 4th Impact band) (Broken Vow),
    • Forestella (Je suis Malade),
    • ....
Sorry if I was long, but I hope this gives some context on Lara.

Great reaction, I love how you connect to her and her performance. But to be honest you kind of have no merit for it: as with all of us, Lara makes sure to grab you in and there is no escape.
For me this is the best Caruso rendition ever, she reveals the sad story and the meaniny of every single word.
Her phrasing, diction, her ability to switch from speaking to singing then belting in the same breath is a pure masterclass.
And these resonant belts are so pure and strong 😱
Yes she is one of the best of all time.
She is back on tour and I will see her on Oct 1st. Can’t wait.

Caruso is not actually an "operatic song". It is a beautiful popular song written in honor of an Opera superstar. It was covered by operatic singers like Pavarotti.
I think Fabian's treatment is the most beautiful I've ever heard.
    Great reaction!

Prior to hearing Lara sing this song I didn't like it at all no matter how much people might argue with me. Now? Now it feels like she reaches into my body and I *feel* her version in my gut. She does something in her singing of the chorus that leaves me with a feeling of suspense and anticipation and I just don't have the words to properly describe it.
I do hope you'll continue to react to more of Lara's music but I also understand that sometimes her singing connects to feelings so deep inside that we don't want to be experiencing it in front of others. Either way...
    Another great review. Thank you.

" CARUSO" is a song by the italian singer- songwriter LUCIO DALLA. He write the song for to the of Neapolitan great classic music singer: ENRICO CARUSO. He life to the first years 1900.

  • @luigibacchetti6539

The writer of this song, Lucio Dalla (from Bologna, northern Italy), wrote this in 1986 while staying in one of the rooms where Enrico Caruso, former famous tenor (From Neaples, southern Italy), spent the final days of his life. Caruso was 48-years-old when he died, and a few years before Caruso died, he married Dorothy Park Benjamin who was 20 years younger. They had a baby girl they named Gloria. Lucio Dalla wrote this song while imagining how Caruso, who knew he was dying, would have said goodbye to his young wife - the love of his life.
curiosity: in sicilian dialect the word caruso means (ragazzo)= boy.

I am currently reading her book; during that time in her life she would often only eat one apple per week (she would cut it in 7 pieces, one for each day). I can't believe she still had that much power and stamina despite practically not eating. Fortunately, she recovered from all of that. She's a wonderful singer and an amazing human.

Lara Fabian speaks 5 Languages and sings in I think around 19, go to Brocken Vow to the very begining and she tells a bit of her story as a little girl, but she studied Opera and music in General, the first time I saw Lara was back in 1988, she was 18 years old on the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST, and between first and second was one point, the winner was Celine who sang for the swiss, Lara was singing in a Band and the song was okay, Lara was great, I think she came 4th or 5th, go RUclips EUROVISION song contest 1988 and watch, you can see the list of countrys, and fast forward to Celine and Lara and enjoy.

'speaks 5 languages' ? Not quite.
Of course, then one gets into a whole thing about how to interpret the word, 'speaks' . "Fluency" might be a more apt expression.
Has she more than a passing acquaintance with 5,6,7 languages? Certainly, but anything beyond the 4th i.e., Spanish, represents more of an intellectual exercise for her and she has not had the time, opportunity, nor, it would appear, drive required to attain a decent level of proficiency whether it be in the spoken or written word in the other languages most often claimed and/or cited by fans as associated with her abilities in this realm. She is fluent in 4 languages and *3* of those she was raised with; exposed to from a very young age(no surprise, therefore, that fluency was achieved - as retarded humans are capable of similar achievement if brought up in a such a conducive environment). She later did, indeed, add Spanish, to the mix, that being as an adult but this was almost inevitable considering her repertoire prior to entering adulthood _and_ the prevalence these days of this particular form(dialect) of vulgar Latin ; Latin being at the root of her most formative linguistic experience. In fact, I am somewhat disappointed that she didn't/hasn't made more of a concerted(forgive the pun) effort to progress in some of the others; idioms that correspond artistically *and* in terms of popularity among her legions of devoted and more casual followers. But that only goes to show you that unless one has grown up with certain "advantages" vis-a-vis language acquisition, it is the rare individual(eg. extraordinarily gifted in this area) that arrives prepared to do the work necessary to become genuinely fluent, not to mention, erudite(well-spoken)in any language outside of those with which there has long existed a compelling reason to do so. In this regard, Lara is not that very special after all. She has merely benefited from the circumstances of her lineage, birth, and upbringing. Now, that doesn't mean that she hasn't put her talent, ability and what language skills she has developed - to fine use especially with respect to her chosen art form. All of this to say that in spite of her being a marvel to watch perform and a pleasure to listen to, particularly, in her prime - the impulse albeit strong, we must avoid succumbing to the temptation to exaggerate when we seek to pay homage to those we admire. It is a trap that, ultimately, does both parties a disservice .

@@manofiske3318 You definitely raise valid points that many fans tends to overlook, and yes we have to admit that being fans makes us lose a big portion of our objectivity.
This said, there is one thing you have overlooked besides the fluency and proficiency : the ability to write lyrics in different languages. This is not that common at all, and does not require the same kind of proficiency as speaking does.
Besides, even if you are right and this is common when the circumstances were favorable, I am still amazed to see that when she speaks French (my mother tongue), Canadian French (yes there are many differences), Italian or English, she sounds exactly like a native speaker. I have also seen Spanish natives praise her Spanish speaking. This is another level of proficiency, the one related to pronunciation and intonation.
Nothing that outstanding per se, but still nice when you are from a country with one of these languages.

    English translation
Here, where the sea shines and the wind blows
on an old terrace on the Sorrento gulf
a man hugs a girl, after she had cried
then he clears his voice and begins again to sing.
    I love you very much
    very very much, you know
    it's become a chain
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know
He saw the lights in the middle of the sea and thought about the nights there, in America
but they were just the "Lampare" (boats with lights, used to fish during the night) and the white trail of a propeller
He felt pain in the music and got up from the piano
but when he saw the moon coming out from behind a cloud
even death seemed sweet to him
he looked in the eyes of the girl, those eyes green as the sea
then suddenly a tear slipped out and he thought he was going to drown.15
    I love you very much
    very very much, you know
    it's become a chain
the melts the blood inside the veins, you know
Power of lirica(=opera), where every drama is fake
and with a bit of make-up and mimic you can become another person
but two eyes, so close and so truthful, looking at you
make you forget the words and confuse your thoughts
so everything becomes small, even the nights there, in America
you turn around and you see your life as a propeller's trail
Yeah, it's life that ends, but he didn't think too much about it
on the opposite, he felt (already) happy and began again to sing
    I love you very much
    very very much, you know
    it's become a chain
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know

Bonjour, I really like your reaction video (very honest)...I agree, Lara is one of the greatest...if you want to ear more of that great artist, you could listen to ¨Broken vow¨. ruclips.net/video/FNVR0yK8Ec8/видео.html ...if you want to ear her sing a song that is a little bit more funny, I would suggest you ¨Mademoiselle Hyde¨ ruclips.net/video/DuSDdjU4S8M/видео.html , Another thing about the wonderful Lara Fabian,,..in the early 2000 she had real bad times in her personal and professional life.....she did a concert in Paris and some fans made a contact with her pianist to organise that the crowd would start singing the song ¨Je t'aime¨ before her...they where singing ¨on t'aime¨ (we love you) instead of the reals words of the song ¨je t'aime¨ (I love you)...believe me it's a very emotional moment that worth to be seen even if you don't make a reaction video out of it ruclips.net/video/IYnFwUbC9A8/видео.html. I've seen that you like female vocalist and artist, I would suggest you to take a look at Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, two great artists that have influence a lot of other, if you'r interested I could send you some links.
