I’ve seen like 20 ppl comment about the QB not moving once the ball is hiked… that’s a Kevin Kelley teaching thing. All of his Pulaski QBs did that too and had a ton of success. I don’t remember exactly what the reasoning was (might prevent the QB from having happy feet or having to remember to throw at a certain point during his drop back).
@@Saltlake27 no problem, it’s crazy how many people are watching this series that have never watched any Pulaski games or previous seasons of this show lol
So he is sacrificing his QBs development to win some HS football games? Why would any legit QB want to play for him if they aren’t allowed to move their feet?
@@Ooochocinco his development into what lol? What percentage of QBs that he coaches do you think are talented enough to play in college afterwards? I also don’t think it’s a “not letting him” move his feet scenario and more of Kevin Kelley thinking it’s easier for the QBs to do it this way or else they wouldn’t do it. I’m not defending the method one way or another. I’m just pointing out that his teams are usually really good so there might be some method to the madness.
@@connorking3523 well I was genuinely asking. But that’s also my point. It’s probably 0% of his QBs play in college afterwards if he is literally is coaching them not to use their feet. And yes I know it works for HS football games, there’s no denying that. I mean if your kid had even D3 aspirations, would you want him to play for Kevin Kelley if he is coaching him not to move his feet? It’s kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. He uses this method because his QBs are bad. His QBs are bad because he uses this method. But again, neither of us know if he is actually coaching this way. And as long as the QBs have no actual future ahead of them I don’t see a problem with it
@@Ooochocinco Sorry my first comment was way snarkier than it should’ve been. When I reread it I realized you were commenting on Kelley and not my thoughts on Kelley. I can kinda see it both ways… I think even if you don’t like Kelley’s methods here, you can at least make the argument that he’s QB-recruiting-friendly in that he’s gonna put the QB back there and throw the ball a ton. Where I’m from, 95% of teams just run the ball constantly even if they have a good QB (I just watched a school that had a super talented QB and wasted him by running the flex bone). He definitely does specifically coach footwork this way… I remember hearing him talk about it during a free clinic. If I remember right his rationale made sense about wanting to simplify things. If it does improve a HS QB’s performance and the kid is already talented, maybe a college coach would let them continue it at the next level? I also think if you’re talented enough to play in college, you can probably learn that coach’s preferred footwork fairly easily.
I think he does at times, he had Pulaski running like a well oiled machine. But I think he said it best when he left to go to Presbyterian, he said "It's time for the next chapter". He's a competitor and likes the challenge, so I can see him wanting to start scratch somewhere else. Kind of wish he had a better go at the College level.
I lived down the hill from Pulaski Academy on Green Mountain Drive. I can't recall a punt or non onside kick EVER by Coach Kelley. This is weird what Sheridan is doing.
zay is a great runningback he understands how to hit the pocket and take cuts that maximize yardage if hes gonna get hit hes a phenomenal player with skill you cant teach.
Yall gotta realize Sheridan has been a door threshold that every team walked over. Year one there is just a building year. Building a team, confidence, and winning attitude in a small town.
I remember playing this dude in the ‘10 4A title game when he was at PA. We had them 4th and mile inside their own 20 or something like that. He got railroaded by another NWA team then, as well. And that was with Hunter Henry in his arsenal. Which was the go to on that play, but our line had their line completely outmatched, on both sides of the ball
Hey Coach! 12 looks more comfortable when he gets his feet moving. Maybe his passes would be more accurate if he can work on taking a few steps back then then stepping into the throw when he’s in a clean pocket and not rolling out? That’s a tough defense y’all were up against though! Hard to get that confidence up early in the season. I bet that team won’t be ready for y’all when y’all play them next time.
