    I feel like if the Islanders are soaring after the AS break and in a playoff spot approaching the TD, Lou has to think about acquiring a scoring forward. If the Isles fall in the standings, Lou has to consider a retool, which to me, means shopping Nelson since his value will be very high. I doubt anyone takes Palmieri, Pageau or Lee.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think that's a straightforward and reasonable approach. If they're close enough at the trade deadline, I know Lou is likely to be a buyer. I'm less confident he would be a seller if they're not, but they certainly should be. Nelson would have the highest value and it will only go down as he gets older. Would clearly be saying this group is done if he goes that way, but we'll see. Thanks for the comment, reese.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  9 месяцев назад

      Makes it tricky. They would have to waive the NTCs. Pageau has a modified so if the Canucks are not on the list of 16 teams he doens't want to go to, he can be traded there. Mayfield has a full NTC. Not sure anybody would want his contract though. It's tricky but not impossible. Thanks for the comment, floridalacrossnews.

    Kuzemenko broke out and had 39 g, 35 a last season. Kuz seems to be lost behind plethora of casuck scorers they have this season. Kuz has played with bo so there is a connection there and is a lw, a spot that needs to be filled on top line. Depending on the price it could be worth a shot. jr and louzer could hook up for trade again like last season. Louzer will deal that first anyway. Casucks will take that first and deal it to fill a spot at tdl. Looks like a fit. Casucks don't have much cap space as well. Along with first it would have to be player for player. Who in the fk on isles roster that can fit under their cap would casucks possibly want? 26-get real. 18-no way. An overpriced 27 or overpaid d man like 3? Doubtful. jpg? Probably best fit for casucks who must be in win now mode.

    I would be crazy to trade Kuzmenko. Even though he's 27 he's new to the NHL and this is his sophomore slump. He didn't take his offseason training seriously. He's a bit of a goof ball. Not a Tocchet guy but the coach has been deconstructing in order to reconstruct the player to give more hustle, chest hair and defensive awareness. So ya the player is reeling emotionally. But slumps end and redemption arcs happen: it is not hard to imagine him being an absolute steal for the Islanders.

    • @LockedOnIslanders
      @LockedOnIslanders  9 месяцев назад

    Word is laffs are still in hot pursuit of a d man. Trade laffs 3. Laffs don't have much draft capital/few prospects and would have to trade a contact out to make it work. A first and third (thanks engval) this draft. No second for three years. No first, fourth in 25. At this point isles are trending down and soon could be too far out with too many teams to catch. Unlike last season when isles were in a playoff spot most of year and took a major pen choke job to get in. I'd wait a few more weeks to see where isles are before seriously trading that first. Isles get in 7-11 range could be in range for one of top d men dickenson or pareyk or riser greentree. A good piece for the re-build to come.

    This is a new fans opinion. I came with Patty. Part of the problem is Lou. The rules he has are outdated. His contracts with players has put the team in a bind, to the point they can't pivot. I mean, I guess you could give up round picks. But with the age of a lot of the players on this team, you don't want to do that.

      David you're spot on and I've been saying similar things since last offseason. I know Lou is the root cause of the problem. I hope Patrick can improve the situation by getting more out of the available talent, but this team needs to get younger, faster and more skilled and Lou has the entire prospect system bare. I will discuss that more on tomorrow's show. Thanks for the comment and welcome to the LO Isles family.

    • @davidedwards3838
      @davidedwards3838 9 месяцев назад

      @LockedOnIslanders I think he had put Patty in a fuck of a situation. You have to play by Lous rules with an aging team that you can't trade off. Said players you can't trade off are playing like shit for a few reasons. 1 old rules are stifling their creativity. 2 they are learning a new system. And 3 I have watched every game since Roy took over. And from watching them play. At this point they are ok with losing.
