Hi Reggie, nice session. I've had nothing but trouble with the HST Hunt magnetic couplers and also the useless Hornby Kinematic coupling system. The Hunts I received (HST specific Elite Pack) were brittle and snapped when I tried to tweak the fixing prongs open slightly more as they kept pulling out of the NEM sockets. The magnets kept detaching/pulling apart from each other on my 3rd radius corners too, so all in all a disaster purchase! The Hornby Kinematic coupling system is a really cheaply made pile of dung and the mechanism sticks in one position when under load and derails the carriages. If the spring comes off you're buggered too! They in theory are an excellent idea but because of the poor manufacturing; Hornby opting for super cheap and nasty rather than quality on this vital component, they simply are a liability and ruin the carriages performance. On the HST rakes I find that they keep detaching the couplings at the point of the loco power cars connection. I've tried to make a few better but there is no tolerance to play with so you end up making the kinematics worse! Such a shame that things seem to be going backwards in many aspects of the hobby rather than progressing!.......... ....I think that sums up the UK at this point in time too! Hi Julian, thanks for your comment - I agree for such a vital component there seems to be problems with all types of couplings, I suppose manufacturers like Hornby are looking for a cheap solution, but that doesn't help us as modelers! I have tried Kaydee's on some wagons and they came on as standard on some Dapol Wagons, they seem to be the best I think. Anyway we will struggle on! Thanks, Reggie
