Pt set up for pivot transfer: 1. edge of surface (foot closer to destination more forward) 2. sit up tall 3. lean forward (closer hand on far arm rest) 4. unweight 5. pivot 6. sit back down W/c Set up: 1. at angle to destination surface 2. lock brakes 3. remove close arm and both foot rests Surfaces: high to low: easiest Optimal to transfer towards affected side: -increases weight bearing on that side

If you are doing this with a REAL patient, the caregiver should NEVER sit in a chair!
The caregiver don't have balance when you are sitting down.
