  • When your electric fan does not work at all (no power), do not buy a new electric fan right away. Test the motor terminals first using your ohmmeter. If you get no reading at all, this could just be caused by a bad thermal fuse. This video shows you how to replace it. 100% step-by-step hands-on repair tutorial.
    You can buy the fuse online very cheap. They come in 10 pieces per pack.

    Thank you for this tutorial. It helped me fix my 20 year old high-velocity fan that just died. Works like new now.

    Are you sure you can solder thermal fuse?

  • @ham23eded

    Can we short the fuse?

    Doesn't the heat from soldering break the fuse? I've heard that you can't solder these on. Plus you used heat shrink tubing.

      No, not if you solder quickly like he did. I also soldered mine and used shrink. Just being slightly careful. 120 C is very hot.

      @@ceeweedsl I think you can put some type of heat sink onto the wire such as a pair of pliers while you solder and that may help.

      I used to have some little aluminum spring clips (similar to alligator but no teeth) for heat sinks, don't know where they went. @@coondogtheman

    What are you trying to demonstrate at 5:46?

      He is showing that there is no continuity. The test showing that the fuse is "blown".

    Do you have a preferred vendor to buy thermal fuses from in USA?

    • @EdgieORepairs
      @EdgieORepairs  Год назад +1

      I don't have a preferred vendor. I bought the fuses from an online seller. The fuse should be available anywhere. Get the voltage, current rating and operating temperature.
