    I'm gonna comment based on my own experience
    English is not my native language but I studied it in an north american institute in my country
    The thing is while I was a student there never, not even once I was talked about the n word, so being fluent at English doesn't mean knowing everything related to it
    First I read the n word in memes and I had no idea it was a slur I thought it was just slang, it took me some time to learn about its real meaning thanks to online content
    So there might be a chance Ahyeon really didn't know saying that word was wrong, I mean I do think she needs to apologize, but it's unnecessary to hate on her or call her a racist. She just needs to be educated so she doesn't make the same (probably unintentional) mistake again

Mass emailing YG will weaken Ahyeon's position and has a good chance or harming her because of the headache it causes YG, so the concern about educating her is either disingenuous or totally misguided in intention in my opinion. And what will the allegedly well intentioned people do if Ahyeon doesn't apologize because YG doesn't let her? Will the drumbeat for horribly unjustified cancellation begin among those claiming to be so sensitive to the situation? @@marylempesi8320 I don’t believe in cancel culture. I believe in hold people accountable culture. Don’t be sorry, be better. But also, to sit here and act like there haven’t been dozens of scandals like this one that were big in Korea is just doing a disservice to these idols and the people where this whole genre of music comes from (Black folk, if you didn’t know). Covering a song and being nonsensical enough to not think about replacing an easily replaceable word just seems a little too naive for the most technologically advanced country in the world, wouldn’t you say? I never said anything about her leaving because of those. Now that would be doing too much. Ahyeon is korean but apparently she is fluent in English and knows the basics at least. So she must know that saying that n-word would bring controversy as they are in the spotlight rn and there have been many other controversies surrounding this issue. As an international star, she has foreign fans who may get offended. So she has to apologise asap and be held accountable for her actions. On the other hand, babymonsters fans defending this is making the situation even worse. Just because they are your "idols" doesn't mean you will be obsessive to the point to forget you moral values. Racism is a crime and it has to eradicated. Instead of defending, we must ask yg to release a statement on it and educate their aritsts well as a few days ago there was a controversy of haruto from treasure as well for his homophobic comments. Still, lets not forget that they are young so harsh criticism and cyber-bullying may affect their mentality as they are human too. Don't stan the group or know much about them but what I do know is that this girl can speak English very well. She deserves every bit of backlash she gets because this is not the first nor last time ignorance like this has been brought to light in K-Entertainment. And I truly dgaf if she is 16, you still have common sense and should definitely know that the word is taboo if you want to be a "rapper". Especially since she is under YG, the "hip-hop inspired" entertainment, but all YG artists are the same in this aspect. They make money off and disrespect black culture. Nothing new, she will fit right in😮‍💨

    She became a member of Babymonster not because of her politeness or not because she did not use bad words, but because of her talent and charisma. And she will not leave the group because of her talent and charisma. She's 16 and made a mistake. Everyone does. It doesn't matter if she regrets it or not. She's underage and our destiny is to protect underage people. Not spread hate, but protect. Literally no one payed that much attention, I did not even see this video until babymonster "fan" accounts spread it.

      Exactly. Even black people shouldbt say the word and they definitley shouldnt include it in raps that other people are very likely to cover. The responsibiltiy starts with black rappers who use the word in their songs. Nobody, regardless of their race should be saying this word. If someone is not extremely familiar with the history of this word and its meaning, they may take it with a pinch of salt, sinnce their are many covers of it online and many black rappers who have said it.

    • @karuamai
      @karuamai 10 месяцев назад

      @@nadiamoosa3654 yes,I think putting it in a song which will blasted online or offline will normalise or watered the word. Kids could also hear it. The word is included in a song so it rhymes too. The word should be banned in songs. Only for educational material should it be used.

    I think it's ridiculous to condemn a highly talented singer like Ahyeon from South Korea for simply singing the lyrics to a song that made a ton of money worldwide to entrap, cancel, bully and demonize her when she obviously admires the artist who made the song. DOn't use the n word in highly popular songs if you don't want people to use them and if they do they shouldn't be used as entrapment tools to ruin their career. This has NOTHING to do with caring about the African American community and most who are preoccupied with being sanctimonious just relish the demented scent of a new disgusting witchhunt.
