At the 6:58 mark, a small piece of the story got cut off, so I'm including the part that was missing here for you guys:
Jake nearly choked on his whiskey. "He what?"
"You were his closest friend and comrade," Cain explained patiently. "He had no living family, so he chose to leave everything to you. His property, his investments, his personal effects...and his wife."
"His wife?" Jake sputtered. "Zoltan was married?"
"Indeed he was," Cain confirmed. "To a female of his own species, as is the custom among the Zoltarians. And according to their traditions, the widow now belongs to you as part of your inheritance."
Jake's head was spinning. This was too much to take in. Zoltan had been loaded? And married? And now Jake was supposed to, what, take on his widow like some kind of hand-me-down?
"I don't want his money," Jake said flatly. "Or his wife. I just want to be left alone to drink myself into an early grave in peace."
Cain's expression hardened. "I'm afraid it's not that simple, Sergeant McGraw. Zoltan's will was very specific. If you refuse the inheritance, everything will be donated to the Zoltarian government - including his widow. And I can assure you, her fate will not be a pleasant one."

How utterly arrogant to assume that a "hovercar" would not use wheels for take off and landing... As if you even understood what technologies might be required for a vehicle to operate in such a mode. How endearingly ignorant to make assumptions when what we currently call a hovercraft is actually using a cushion of air to ride on and kicks up dirt and debris all around it while in operation... things that would NOT be welcomed in any city, much less in the upper echelons. How unpleasant that people think they are such authorities on technology and yet somehow have completely failed to produce such a thing, despite their apparent "expertise" in how such a thing would be done and for what purposes. Kindly do not respond, even when you eventually grow out of your delusions of competency... and yes, this little note is dripping with sarcasm... rather appropriate in light of your own vituperous commentary.

Alas, you must be referring to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang if you are referring that vehicles that impart the use of hovercraft technology use conventional and rather mondaine mode of wheels and axles. I do applaud your time and shall we say zeal of this topic. It was a nice change to have someone with an extended use of their vocabulary to voice their opinions in a thoughtful and respectful manner. Good day to you sir.
Why would there be a Voltarian embassy on their own home planet? Embassies don't work that way.
I wouldn’t question it
You assume that the story is situated on the Voltarian home world... that was never established. In fact, Jake's retirement from the Terran Defense force and the abundance of more human names and concepts leans towards it being Terra or Earth and makes perfect sense that intergalactic aliens would have an embassy and that an alien might decide to live and work on Earth... But I guess that might be a bit too obscure of a reference in observation.
Did Zoltan leave him the Continuum Transfunctioner too?
I want to say great story but it is very clear the writer changed the direction of the story and thought we wouldn't notice.
The attack happened and jake regonized who was attacking that it was something from his past. Then in the next chapter it was the wife's family and he needed to get to find out who attacked. And then it was a third party. Feels like the writer had no idea where this was going. And why would you owe someone for information you paid for?
That last question I can answer because I know many people like this, and possibly the others

I suspect it was a synopsis of a bigger story, pity it may have proved to be better with a few more chapters. 😊
Sounds like the start of an Out-freaking-standing series.
At about 7 min the story seems to skip about a half chapter ahead....Might want to re record .Otherwise pretty good story

outstanding story. At first he hated her but she put up with. when push came to shove he came to her rescue and now they are one. goo story. (Mississippi gulf Coast, USA).

I guess for the same reason planes have them, it has to make moving them and transporting them if they malfunction easier too.

7 minutes in, did you skip a chapter? No explanation and Jake isn't going to let some poor alien broad suffer? The lawyer hasn't said anything! Why no continuity? How did we get here? So, are we supposed to just know how this storyline is going without any real dialogue? Is this acceptable in the AI genre?
I backed up and listened to that again when that disconnect happened... And watched nearly a paragraph of subtitles go 'Brrr' in a split second... What in the-? ...
