Prince hated people covering stuff exactly as it is. He always respected people doing their own stuff, and that's what Lenny did. He made his own version out of these songs, and that's how it should be, I guess. I personally love Lenny's version and appreciate the whole show he did.
I guess Sinead and Chaka got that little chat, too. LOL But--just maybe he lent his songs to them and many other, because he knew they would have their own special way with it which would enhance their own lives. He touched so many other musicians on so many levels.
I disagree with what you said Prince wrote a song for Melissa Morgan called "do me baby " was a #1 R&B hit. Prince also had that same song on his own album singing it himself. Leo please if you are not a prince fan don't spread the false rumors and lie.
@@kimberpas2907 I agree. Lenny considered Prince a mentor. He joined him at Paisley Park, and Prince was gracious, as you would any guest at your home. They tore the house down. Lenny popped up at other Prince concerts when they were in the same cities. Prince always invited him up to Jam with him. I think he would have enjoyed this.💜🕊
Keeping in mind this is a tribute, I think it is very respectfully done. No one tried to be like Prince, but, in contrast, honor him. I found it beautifully done. Excellent. Thank you to all for this amazing. respectfully done, homage for our Prince. It shows nothing but love.
Jennifer Puhl I agree, they've both found a higher level of understanding and are on a level of spirituality that we can all hope to strive for, complete love
I'd greatly appreciate it if some Prince fans would check out my acoustic piano & vocal tribute version of MONEY DON'T MATTER 2 NIGHT on my channel. Real live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks, please pardon the promo and most importantly, all respect to the MAN.
JohnnieRhodes I appreciate your giving your feelings in a respectful manner. It seems that anytime someone disagrees anymore, they're so rude. You weren't. Thanks for that. From what I know from hearing Prince speak, he would Love that his Friend didn’t just do a cover but took creative liberties... that’s honoring a friend
Lenny was invited to perform a tribute to both Prince, and Led Zeppelin in their respective inductions into the hall of fame...The contrast of these shows how diverse and talented Lenny really is
OK I love Lenny and I know him and Prince were friends...so this means so much 💜 but it truly shows just how unbelievable Prince was.... Respect and love Lenny ✌️🕉️😚🎶☔🕊️
Before Lenny made it big, he called himself Romeo Blue and he mimicked Prince in every way back then. Beautiful tribute brother, no body could honor Prince musically like Lenny
I loved this tribute. I remember hearing Prince say years ago that Lenny was a good friend of his and he enjoyed shooting pool with him. Prince cracked a few jokes. RIP Purple warrior.
Lenny took it to church along with the choir and band....did his brother and friend right perfect tribute his purpleness would love this...I see Prince in the audience shaking his head yea man
Agreed! I have some of his old music including Cab Driver and saw him live a few decades ago. Very underrated as an artist, maybe because he's not so commercial... Another reason I like him (cool, confident, true to who he is, like Prince). He's a good actor, and also a hottie!
That's the absolute best cover of Prince's music. I would usually cringe when people tried to cover Prince's music. Great music selection,. especially 'The Cross,' a lesser known great song by Prince. Lenny, you embodied Prince's spirit.
Haven’t really seen too many Prince tributes or covers that were very enjoyable. ...But wow. FINALLY someone had the artistic talent and vision to effectively pull it off and do it REALLY well. I know he was smiling from heaven. This tribute should have been the one that aired on one of the major non-cable networks. Far more enjoyable compared to others I saw. 💜
Covering Prince is a nearly impossible task. Most attempts fail woefully. Lenny does an amazing, admirable job with this. I agree with those who said he made it his own. He also shows respect for the material, and obviously took the time to do it right. Great cover!
I love Lenny but I disagree. By most people's standards it's great but lifeless compared to Prince's music. And that choir was just wasting stage space.
What a superb tribute! Lenny brought it home and did it justice, and who is that older hippie looking dude doing that funky, amazing guitar? Dayum! How did I miss this in 2017? I had no idea this tribute existed. Bruno Mars and The Time, the other video, did wonderfully too on their tributes. So fun! RIP Prince - you are missed!
This is a beautiful tribute to your friend. I know Prince would've been soooo proud. I miss him, but, thank God he left us plenty of his music. Great job Lenny. This made me feel wonderful❤
