Rachel Agatha Keen, also known professionally as Raye (stylised in all caps), is an English singer and songwriter. She rose to prominence after being featured on the commercially successful singles "By Your Side, "You Don't Know Me", "Secrets" and "Bed". In 2021, Raye left Polydor Records and became an independent artist.
"Escapism" is a song by British singer-songwriter Raye featuring American rapper 070 Shake. It was released independently on 12 October 2022 as the third single from the album as a double A-side with "The Thrill Is Gone", and appears on her debut album My 21st Century Blues (2023)

Love this song, it really is GOOD music. The beat, the lyrics, the layers, the flow and delivery, instrumental jazzy style....just really GOOD. Would love to see her do a collaboration with Dev whom I could have sworn was singing this when I first heard it and didn't know who it was. Voices maybe very different, but so Dev's style.
I'm always in for a new artist discovery, now it's stuck deep in my head. Currently listening to her Tiny Desk Concert perfomance. Thank you Beth !

Raye is one of the most powerful talents in today's pop music. Great album, "Escapism" and "Ice Cream Man" hit so hard everytime. People are always complaining that there's no great music today and artists like Raye could prove them wrong easy handedly if they would only make the effort to search for them with open mind and ears.
ahhhhh, I love new artists that are over the top, I didnt know who Raye was, until i was her uber driver to her seattle concert, shes been on repeat ever since. excited to see Beths reaction : )

You should check her Tiny Desk Concert session. Jez! Up there with Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald all the best singers ever. And believe you me I don't say that lightly. Amazing voice.
Hmm...really good, almost heart-wrenching voice. Reminds me of Eminem and Elton John performing together at music awards. It was the first time this older person started to appreciate rap as a music form. Think she's worth checking out further...real talent. Umm..don't think Ella Fitzgerald would have sung this. 🥵🥵

What a singer and some brilliant tunes but theres something about her i dont like and i dont know what it is 🤔
She's got a great voice, but a lot of the song and stylistic choices just don't do it for me.
