This is so strange to hear. I’m from Eynsham where this song was written and it’s sung by the morris side regularly. We sing slightly different lyrics but grate to hear another version.
That's the bass I always remember Peggy playing from my first few Fairport gigs :) I was made up when I got invited to his house and saw it hanging on the wall! (sadly he wasn't there at the time).
I've been wondering too...I think he was terrific, and a greatly underrated drummer. Dave Mattacks was wonderful, yet Bruce had a certain "snap" to his playing that I've never heard from anyone else. Love his playing on Tippler's Tales and The Bonny Bunch Of Roses albums.
