    after watching you install the 'eyebrows', with my experience in installing aluminum storm windows in the business, short pieces made of soft aluminum such as these, they stretch and bend very easily so it was out practice to start screws in the center and work out toward the edges to help prevent puckering

    • @RobTheRebuilder

      You are correct but also the butyl tape will hold it pretty steady as well.

      @@RobTheRebuilder I think when you did teh AC vent, that should get an eyebrow - which to me, just helps shed the water. A guy told me once, think like the amish and ask yourself which way will the water want to go. - Norm always cut his wood sills with a cut underneath to make the water drop off. My friend said what is it with you and water ? Water's destructive !!

      sometimes, if you are careful, a utility knife blade and windex works on flat glass, backdrag it so the leading edge will NOT dig in. / ----->

    Hey there! This was a great video. So great that I think I will rebuild the windows in my 1965 Serro Scotty Sportsman. Just one thing, the screws that hold the windows and eyebrows are extremely rusted that I can't tell what kind of screw it is. The screws seem to have a dimple in the middle. How would I get that type of screw out? I will use DW40 to loosen them up but what bit do I use to back it out? Thank you for your advice!

    • @RobTheRebuilder
      @RobTheRebuilder  4 месяца назад +1

      I'm not sure that is factory original. You might look at the hardware store for the bit.

    Hey Rob, I have a 1970's Travelaire and I'd like to reseal the windows like you did. Is there anything more complicated about that style of window? Also does the gasket style or size matter? It was hard to tel the profile and size of the strip you used. The front and back big windows both need new gaskets. When shopping around for some there are so many different profile options. Any suggestions would be helpful. I really appreciated your video it made a daunting task seem possible.

    • @RobTheRebuilder
      @RobTheRebuilder  Месяц назад

      I have never rebuilt a Travelaire so all I would say is look at what is there and try to find a replacement. I seal the windows with butyl tape. I think it is 3/4 x 1/8

    • @RobTheRebuilder
      @RobTheRebuilder  Год назад

      I like to use plexiglass from Lowes. Keeps the breaking to a minimum. If you want safety glass, your local glass shop can make it for you.

    We desperately have to do our 1987 Kit Road Ranger Elites windows 🫣 This video is going to be great for us because we don’t have the slightest clue how do renovate and are learning it all on RUclips lol.
    By the way, what thickness should we get for the gasket?… Will the kind for car doors do?

    Bob, enjoy the videos. I have a 1963-64 trailblazer that I have yet to start due to other home projects. I finally cleared out the garage to pull the back skin off to fix rotted wood from a bad house window installation that naturally leaked. I’m going through mobiltec’s videos/course, very interesting how these things were designed and built fascinates me. Mine has the several pains jalousie windows, never seen one solid one like yours. Was that a Scotty exclusive?

    • @RobTheRebuilder
      @RobTheRebuilder  2 года назад

      These windows were popular with many of the 50, 60,70's canned hams. Scotty did use the other style windows in their doors as well. Watch out or the camper bug will bite you and then you'll be really busy. Good luck on your build.

    now hold on son, just hold on.... don't we need to clean and progressively polish the aluminum frame ? cutting and buffing wheels, white, and red rouge ? I have Hehr windows to redo and while still in my camper, some polishing really made them look better.
