Me too. The fitters are trash in the lansing area.
I went to a national golf equipment outlet and got fitted for golf shoes. They told me they would take one stroke off my game and add 6 yards to my driver. Then they fitted me for a golf ball. They recommended the Titleist Pro V1X which will add 10 yards to my driver and shave 1.5 strokes off my game. They fitted me for a putter. They said my putting stroke is taylor made for a Scottie Cameron Tour Rat 1 Circle T which would shave 3 strokes off my game. We talked about my driver (Srixon ZX7) and they indicated the Technology was outdated and recommended Titleist TI3 (which was specifically designed to optimize my Titleist Pro V1X golf balls) This new driver would add an additional 10 yards to my driver carry distance and shave 2.5 strokes off my game.
So I asked if there was anything else I needed and they said a 20 Hour Personalized Swing Lesson Package would help my overall game. I was happy knowing just buying the right equipment would add 26 yards to my drive and shave 8 strokes off my score but when they recommended lessons, I started to question if buying the equipment would transform my game. Apparently lessons and practice are what will improve your score.

I drastically cut down on 3-putts just by switching from a 34” toe-hang Jailbird Mini to a 32” face-balanced Odyssey Ten. It made such a huge difference because I prefer to not open and close when putting.
I see Micah repping that Mizuno driver he got fitted for at Golftec awhile ago. Can't wait to see that on the course.

Recently switched to a LAB DF2.1 putter with a wrist lock shaft. It’s completely changed my game.

When I got fitted for my putter I first had the spider putter then I got fitted to the bettinardi queen b#6 and They bent it to 6 degrees and now I have been making more putts under 12 feet

I have a putter with toe hang. Did he say you should putt a little bit more on the inside of the middle line on your toe hang putter? Or should you line it up directly with your toe hang putter? (Just wanna become a better putter myself!)
His point was that the line is often not painted on true center. Line a ball up with the center of your putter face and then compare that with the line on the back of the putter. That's how you'll know if you need to adjust.

Remember your eyes are vertically Inside the Vertical Line that would rise directly above the Alignment Stripe.
Get a Friend to hold your Putter steady as you center the Ball in Front of the Stripe.
Then move yourself into your Putting Stance while your friend keeps the Putter locked in the same position.
Does the Ball Position look the same, relatively to your "Normal Setup"?

@@apaulmcdonough2170 just picked up my putter n tried this. 100% helped wow. Idk if this is a temporary fix but let’s hope it’s permanent. My goal is to get better year over year and I know putting is what I need to focus on if I wanna get better next year. This may be huge

I had been using a Titleist Bullseye Wide Blade for 25 years before moving to Southern California from Connecticut. The Bullseye wasn't Happy with the Poa Annua Greens here vs. the Bent Grass back East.
I bought a 2018 Newport 2.5, and shortly after removed the BLACK Paint from the Alignment Line.
TOO Bold and distracting. The bare groove is ample to square the Putter on line.
I added a Red Sight Dot to the Top Edge for Centering on the Ball.
Between the two I seldom miss starting the Ball along "my line".
Sorry if this has been asked but he kind of glossed over ball position. Did he suggest a ball position based on your eye dominance?

watched the whole video now don't think you need a Benetti putters my fitting was different to yours used the sams syetem nothing about changing my putting style more about fitting the putter to me . i used a blade putter my own putted about ten putts out of those missed over 16 foot about 5 out of ten , then changed putters tried about 9 different putters including benetti putters but ended up with a even roll ten out of ten went down the hole , now on course different slope speed of greens etc but shaved last year 4 shots of my game as an average golfer , so you as a scratch golfer 1-2 shots per round absolute brilliant , putter fitting is one of the best game improvers i did get a good fitting you carnt lose

Micah great video bro. I had the same problem until I bought this training aid called the The putting Arc. It helped me tremendously on my putting stroke. I ended up getting fitted for a face balanced mallet putter. Look it up if you get a chance.

You’re right, I’m the only fitting studio using it. The other QBR in the city is at a manufacturer’s facility. And those guys are my friends at BGT!

I wish I had a putter fitter near me .
It has been shown that often the players with the most precise putting dynamics are not the best actual putters. I remember reading many years ago that Garcia had the best stroke dynamics of any player in the "lab", however he was far from being a great putter in the course of battle.

I had a fitting like this a while back and they said I was setup too open. Who cares as long as you are consistent with delivering the putter? Ruined my putting for a while

If you were to improve your putting you would become God like.
It’d probably help to go to a fitter that actually knew what he was talking about. Toe hang doesn’t help close the face. It does the opposite. The weight on the toe makes it lag behind…it’s for people that close the face too fast. Idk why people keep repeating this nonsense. Just think about it…it’s quite obvious. Even with drivers…the ones that help with a draw have weight in the heel, and the ones that favor a fade, have weight on the toe. It’s simple smh…

It probably changes nothing. These fittings are mostly scams. I have yet to see one RUclips player improve their score before and after fitting. They score the same but believe they scored better after the fitting.

If you're gaining 10yards and hitting more fairways, you'll naturally score better. Data and numbers aren't a scam but I can see where it doesn't help heaps if someone has inconsistent ball striking.

these places usually operate under the basis that if you dont buy anything or had zero intention of buying a new club upon going to the fitting, they dont just do shit for free. so youre paying whether you buy something or not. the incentive to BS a new club into your hands however is a lot smaller because of this, so its still a good idea to go these places rather than a retail store. def worth that money. most places also waive the fitting fee IF you buy new clubs. So they still makin bank either way. it allows them to care about the customers needs rather than focusing on pushing product for profit.
Yeah that was pretty nice to see. I really need some feedback like this. And time and nice weather to practice more. It'll be cool to see how Tig's putting improves. Even if it shaved 2-3 strokes a rd. It's so worthwhile. That's huge. Good luck Micah.

I never understand the talk about a toe-hang putters opening and closing. Shouldnt the toe drag in the backstroke to then open up a bit in the ”forwardstroke”? I mean, when you put the weight in a driver at the toe, it makes the club harder to close at impact. And vice versa with the weight in the heel on a draw biased driver. Shouldn’t the same physics apply to putters?
They are opposite because of the speed differences at which they are swung. With driver, the weight is fighting against the inertia your body is creating because the speed is greater than the weight. With a putter, the weight is being affected more by gravity than your own body’s forces on the club, hence the heaviest part tries to get back to the low point quicker, and you’re not swinging fast enough to effectively be able to get ahead of the speed that weight already wants to fall back into place at.
Awesome video...so many people after fittings end up with a scotty as that was the objective anyway and of course any salesperson would be happy to sell an expensive putter to any hacker wheter it fits or not. Giving you the opportunity to try other putters and then adjusting your own and not getting the hardsell is refreshing from a fitter.
What if I already bought the Scotty? Could they adjust my Scotty?
I'm a 60 year old man and you young man can smack the snot off a golf ball. Great videos of you and your boys playing rounds. You should hook up with Golf Test Dummy and have a match. You're a scratch golfer he's more like a 15 so some strokes you'd have to give him👍😀

Hope those commercial peddlers here in the great Montreal ( Canada area ) watch this video ….because none as in no F…one do this with their clients. Not EVEN in the best mirage performance center…they sell you a Callaway that’s it.
It's almost like your driver fade had bled over into your putting. My putter fitting said your stroke is fine, your putter is fine; walked out with the same putter I walked in with. Conclusion for me: Practice more. So, bought an indoor putting matt (5 holes), make a ton of putts every day in the 3 to 10 ft. range, and changed my grip & alignment process as a result of the practice. For some it's the arrow, for some it's the Indian, sometimes it's a blend of the two.
So glad you didn't just go buy a $300-$400 putter like some people........ hahahahaha
Yes!! I was just thinking he does it the right way. Gets fitted for clubs and buys what is best for his game and doesn't just go looking for an expensive club!
