    We dress-up for formal night. I love to take pictures after dinner in our nice attire.

    I was on Oasis for 2 weeks in April 2023. There were problems with the Aqua Show then as well; both weeks! It was cancelled completely the 1st week. And I had to watch it in daytime the second week because the pool was a little too cloudy to be safe for the divers to dive at night. There are so many moving parts to these shows and a lot can go wrong. I'm grateful I did get to see it.

    Super great video showing how a simple upgraded dining experience on RC goes wrong. CHOPS should be the highlight of your day and when it isn't...they should both apologize and refund your money. You are better people than us as we would have walked out at the 20 minute mark and ensured I was refunded for a lousy night. Your coverage of the dinner with the timing marks and clock times was great! So glad you enjoyed the water show and your montage was worth watching! Thanks!!

      Glad you enjoyed the video! We try to make the most of every situation, but most likely the last Chops meal for us as it has fallen short two out of three times.

    On cruises, I like dressing up but not in formal attire. Living in Florida’s hot and humid climate my husband is reluctant to wear a jacket and I don’t blame him. We reserve formal attire for formal weddings. However, we do dress well all evenings when cruising.

      We went a lot more formal than we normally do on cruise ships for the inaugural sailing! Thanks for watching.

    Sorry you had such a negative experience at Chops.
    I ate at the same venues as you did on this day, but in the opposite order. I went to Chops for lunch and Portside BBQ for dinner.
    I cruise solo, so nothing fancy for formal night dinner. I would participate if I had the opportunity to cruise with a friend.

      Maybe we will try that when we are on Royal again, thanks for the tip.

    Thanks for posting this video!! We sail on Oasis during Easter week so this seemed to help guide my expectation on crowds. In your opinion, if you can only afford one of these: CoCo Cay Beach Club -or- The Key… which one do we choose?
    We are a family of three… but traveling with another family of four… so 7 people total in our party

    • @NavigateWith
      @NavigateWith  Год назад

      That is a tough one. So if there is three of you the cost of the Beach Club could be anywhere from $100 per person to $250 per person. Now what we have seen some people do is split the cost of a cabana at the Beach Club. But if your kids are young they probably would want to do the water park or splash away bay at CoCo Cay, so that might be a better option.
      If you and your spouse where going to get the internet, it might be worth getting The Key, as internet is included and you will get onto the ship early, have a lunch included, and the last day you can leave the ship when you want. We also have a full video on The Key if you want to watch that.

    Y'all looked wonderful for formal night. Too bad your dinner at chops didn't go well. Hopefully ours goes better on Adventure of the seas. Glad you were able to see the Aqua show. It looked wonderful. That show was closed when we were on the Allure.

    Sorry to hear about your lackluster (and late) dinner at Chops, but we can sympathize since we had much the same experience. This was our first time experiment with the dining package, and while Izumi was great, Chops and Giovanni's were not. We also found Hooks to be less than satisfactory on another RC ship. They were not at all an upgraded dining experience, and it has given us serious pause about considering them in the future.

      Dave, I think what we have found is that the experience is different from ship and ship. We did on this cruise have a great explanation at 150 Central. But agree, we would like a more consistent experience moving forward!

      Hey Dave, Please don’t make your decision based on one experience. We’ve done the Specialty on both Princess and Celebrity and I can attest that they did in fact exceed the included options. Just saying.. don’t jump so fast.. try a few then make the decision. Many find the included options more than adequate, while others prefer the ‘Enhanced’ Dinning experience. Happy Cruising..

      @@Misbehaven99 Thanks Rob. I appreciate the perspective. I was really only commenting on the RC experiences we have had. We’ve not tried Princess or Celebrity, so our mind is open.

      @@NavigateWith Thank you! As you might recall, we met you during the Sail Away party on Oasis, and we appreciated the shout out in your video.
      We had dinner at Chops on that Friday night, and our experience was amazingly similar to yours. Service was almost non-existent and the food was “meh”. Fortunately, we were not in a rush for a show.
      Our waiter at Giovanni’s was exceptional, although the food was not inspiring.
      Since we shared a table with you at Izumi, I know you’re aware of how good that experience was. Definitely a plus!

    Sorry, but coming a little late to this ‘party’. My wife and I have been catching up on your posted videos and found this one this past week. You’re both one of our Explorer/Cruising favorites! (keep up the good work!); We are both experienced cruisers, mostly with Royal C. and that class ship. As a cruiser - I was livid watching this video, and was shocked that everything wasn’t always perfect (how naive of me!). You both have the patience I wouldn’t have had - don’t care how much wine they threw at me. Question 1-Besides apologizing, Did the Chops Manager ever explain what happened? Based on what you showed, it seemed there were a bunch of new (little trained) wait-staff that threw everything off. It doesn't sound like the problem was coming from the galley. Question 2-Did you ever complain to Guest Services? Not to get anything free; but they need to know. Question 3-Did they ever offer any discounts or compensation?

    • @NavigateWith
      @NavigateWith  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching. The reason we were given was that because it was raining that evening no one wanted to sit outside causing tables to be at a premium inside, it seemed to us that no one was running the floor and the fact that the maitre d' wasn't at the entrance only compounded confusion. We never did complain because it honestly wasn't worth our time, but we did provide feedback in the survey and gave an appropriate rating for the experience. The manager of the speciality dining did offer to comp us, but we had the unlimited dining package so it really didn't matter.
      For us, Chops has been 2 bad experiences and 1 good (Symphony - bad, Allure - Good, Oasis - Bad) so can't recommend it and won't be booking anymore dining there. We have found Izumi, Giovanni's, and 150 Central to be the most consistent with food and service.
      Thanks for watching.

    If we do a Christmas/New Years Cruise then Formal Night is in fact Formal.. we wear suites with Ties.. granted I might wear a suit that has a Christmas theme to it :-) Otherwise, I’m on Vacation I don’t want to wear a suit period. For Men Dress Shirt with a collar and pant’s (Jeans are fine as long as no rips, tears, stains etc. yes I know that it’s a fashion, just not for Dinning.. No shorts (Any Type) in my humble opinion). For Women anything not overtly exposing of physical attributes (It’s dinner time after all) and like the men, nothing with rips, tears, stains etc. no matter how in fashion they might be. (Just my opinion.. others have theirs and I can respect that ;-) ) But to be honest, I really don’t care what others are wearing and I really hope others don’t give a wazzoo about what I’m wearing. I’m hear to eat, not find a hook up or get turned on.. hahahaha
