📌Hey everyone, it’s Steph! If you want my FREE RELOCATION GUIDE with information on all things about AUSTIN, TEXAS, you can download it here: connect.buyorsellrealestatenow.com/austintexasrelocationguide
I'm new to Austin and I can't really complain. I found a job in pretty much 2 weeks of being here and was able to room with someone in a really nice area. I pretty much had nothing when I got here. Glad I picked Austin.
I got to live in Austin when it was a sleepy college town from 1975 to 1989 and again in 1997 to 2001. LOVED it! I was able to ride my bike from 26th street to Barton Springs in the early years. I don't recognize it now and the traffic is a challenge but it is a gem! Some of the changes you describe do sound pretty cool. Great video!
@@CarbonXL feel free to set up a call with me. I can give you some information on how to get started! Happy to help calendly.com/scbartone/15-min-phone-call
Lived there for many years and got all three of my degrees while I was there; no way would I ever live in Austin again. The traffic has always been bad. The level of homelessness is astounding. There's increasing crime. If I was forced to live there (perhaps due to employment) I would probably look somewhere outside Travis or Williamson Counties, perhaps Bastrop County.
This is odd because most videos I have seen as of late are stating that people are exiting Austin because the prices are insane and way to many Californians moved there. I remember years ago when Austin was beautiful! Definitely not anymore. Same thing happened to DFW. Austin has become a mass exodus town from other realtors perspective. It’s so crowded you can’t move! Yuk
@@hollyriley9848 thanks so much for your insight. We all have different perspectives. Yes people are moving out of Austin but there’s still many people relocating here. It’s a good sign when a city grows but I can understand that not everyone likes it.
In my opinion I think its a great option for the city. Yes lot sizes may not be large but with the shortage of supply this will help with supply and cost because they are building smaller homes. They can only do som much within the city with the limited amount areas to build. Thats why the suburbs are exploding like they are. So yes I think its a good thing for the people that want to live a more minimal lifestyle and dont want or need a big home or yard to maintain. Not everyone will agree but this is my opinion :) Thank you for watching!
Born and raised in South Austin. Never cross the river. Few homeless in this area. That being said they would not be welcome. People in South Austin are not very tolerant of homeless panhandling. Consequently they mostly stay under the freeway overpasses. HATE lot size change. No plan for parking resulting in cars parked up and down in front of houses. Literally a car lot.
@@AZNPinoy30 the suburbs are definitely a great alternative or option! It’s more affordable and most suburbs are growing their own developments, shops, and restaurants so you don’t have to travel into Austin if you prefer not too!
Seems like everyone in Austin wants less traffic and less over-crowding-- so approving smaller lot sizes may be a big mistake. The smaller lot sizes will increase low income housing and will make Austin more like Los Angeles-- and increase density. More and more low income housing will then bring high crime problems and more taxes-the higher taxes will be needed- to support section 8 housing and more police. Reply
Visited a school there for my masters in the late 1980s. I became sick, could not find a grocery or drug store in the area. Had to make do with a Circle K to find medicine. Austin was and is still a crap hole. Have not been back since.
What kinda social activities are being developed for mature ppl of color looking for more cultural activities ie jazz or R&B social clubs. You may not be able to answer this but there is a lack of social forums for ppl of color wanting to chill out and and socialize with other ppl of similar lifestyles and cultures due to gentrification.
All the public use stuff is great.... if it wasnt for all the homeless people allowed to run rampant. Until some law and order is brought back, all these things will only be so nice.
Infrastructure overhaul: say something about bike lanes and bike paths. All these young people moving here are into exercise. Highways are a necessary evil. People would rather ride their bikes, and I mean to work, not stupid training rounds clad in lycra. And Austin is actually doing decently in this respect. But highways? They are dumb. How about more light rail? Why does 71 from Dripping Springs need to be expanded? Just put a bunch of light rail and bus lanes.
Any musician thinking about moving to the “Live music Capital of The World”!!!…. Just remember that the definition of Homeless around here, is a musician without a girlfriend. 😂
I highly doubt that. I’m a true Austinite myself and Steph mentioned a few things I was unaware of that are currently happening in the city and/or going to occur in the near future.
@UniversalSoundsEnt To be fair, I'm a General Contractor from Austin..My point is all the development etc in central tx or anywhere is planned usually a decade in advance...I know several developers..It's not new...anything she said

We live about an hour and a half from Austin. Rare that I go there.

Bastrop taxes are insane.
Democrats took it over.
Only a realtor will say rising prices are good. Just a big numbers sell job.
Thanks for commenting. Have you worked with any real estate professionals in the past?
Rising prices means rising real estate taxes. People who have had their nice little house for decades can no longer afford them because of taxes.
This is odd because most videos I have seen as of late are stating that people are exiting Austin because the prices are insane and way to many Californians moved there.
