The show ran successfully for so many years only because of the talents of so many gifted Billy’s and supporting cast.
It is a shame every Billy could not have been recorded performing, but the DVD is a lasting tribute to all.

I disagree I find that this kind of film takes away the magic of what is special about theatre

It's without any doubt the most beautiful and most moving sequence of the musical. I had the chance to see it in London with Elliot Hannah playing Billy. This sequence made me cry, and I hadn't seen the hook coming down, so you can imagine my surprise when I saw Billy fly. I will never forget it

I agree, I too saw Elliot in London and his performance brought me to tears!! Amazing!!

I have seen 30 shows, live, on Broadway. This particular performance was taped in London. I kid you not, I have never enjoyed anything more then this particular show. 11 year old Elliot Hanna is amazing. Just yesterday i watched the DVD for the 35th time. It will thrill you and make you feel great! I urge you to buy it!

Couldn't agree more. :) I have seen my fair share of Billys, live and on recordings, and there are very few who hit on the trifecta of dancing, singing, and acting on such a high level... and have the charisma to carry a special performance like this. Crazy!

Erefor Soundtrack Finder but damn. Could you imagine the core strength it took to do that. Even with the placement of the harness you still have to use every muscle in your body to get that plank look. Lol and then to be spun around a billion times and then emedietly start dancing again? God I’d be dizzy. Lol so bravo bravo bravo to our boy Elliot Hannah. I will never not be impressed by this

Ok so I am only a week or so into my obsession of this amazing musical.. I’ve done a lot of watching different kiddos and everything. Elliot Hanna is by far the most special.. his smile , his emotions omg. But the best moment of this part is his dad . He watched his son the eggshell he had to help him cope with his job and wife cracked.. and then trying to get tony to crack .. crying now..

Yes, he was the first Billy to take the stage. It’s worth noting that Elliott Hanna was the youngest ever. He left the role before his 12th birthday. To combine these two just the once was genius, but I feel sorry for the dancer who usually played the older Billy in this scene.

They say that mathematics is the language of the Universe. Not at all. Every living creature, no matter where they are from respondes to music. That is the language of the Universe. Try and attract animals with maths and you won't find one, but play them music and they will come to you to listen.
Such is the power of music. It lifts the heart and sings to the soul. No matter what your race or species everyting understands music. It is the language of the soul.

Elliot hanna had to be able to sing and act too , and also at this point in the musical billy hadnt had extensive training it was more meant to show his enthusiasm and raw talent over classical perfection
