I first saw this when a family friend videotaped it and sent it to me in 1985. It was shown on SHOWTIME. I wonder why its been forgotten but then again looking at all the garbage we are surrounded by on TV, I am not surprised. I finally found this on Amazon Prime by doing some random searches. I've been looking for years to come up with the name of this. asking people about an early HBO special. No one knew what I was talking about.
My mom had this tapped on a VHS that I would watch growing up, and it starts at the exact same part-- missing just a shave from the beginning. I wonder if that's how it aired.

They continued to show it on Nickelodeon for a number of years, but not since the late 80s.
