I've noticed that a lot of the voice clips here sound different compared to the actual film. Where are these alternate takes from?
EDIT: So this video, while fanmade as the uploader says, recreates the international trailer from the 2013 Discotek DVD, where these alternate takes and deleted scenes are heard and seen.

Man, voice acting has come a long way over the years, not just in dubbing but across the board. I remember my dad once showed me a cartoon (Can't remember the name of it now) that he used to watch when he was a kid, and the voice acting hadn't exactly aged fantastically. It was all read out in the dullest monotone you could imagine!

0:24 - 0:28 Fun fact: This is actually a scene that wasn't in the completed film, and was part of a differently planned opening where Lupin died in a shipwreck instead of being hung at the gallows, and was previously thought to be lost

I remember seeing some sort of fan website in Japanese that had this clip on it a while back with a detailed description of it, I don't know when or how but TMS must have still had the clip in their archives or something, and then uploaded it to the internet at some point

My how dubbing has changed since then...by a TON. Not one thing on this dub was right, whether it was the choice of cast or the method of how the dub was done. I do say the logo for Lupin on this trailer is as spiffy AF and it's wonderful.

That sequence at 0:24 is pretty intriguing, since I haven't seen it in any version of the movie!
By the looks of it, it seems like an early cut of the Zenigata and Commissioner discussion (since you can see the latter right at the end of that scene)

This dub was recorded in Japan, so I can only assume that the studio thought it would be more appealing to an English-speaking audience if they used Americanized names (probably a mixture of cultural appropriation and post-war paranoia or some similar reason).
