- Former Real Madrid and Juventus man Zinedine Zidane has had one of his last acts on a football field immortalised in stone. Zidane was infamously sent off in the 2006 World Cup final - his last game for France - for headbutting Italy's Marco Materrazzi in the chest.
It meant one of the most gifted footballers in French history was not able to take a penalty in the shoot-out, which Italy went on to win. And Algerian-born artist Adel Abdessemed has designed the sculpture which has been posted in front of the Centre Pompidou modern art museum in the French capital.

In Italy he is remembered for having won many titles (16 considering domestic and internationals titles with INTER) and of course for that episode, but more to have scored 1-1 in the final and 1 of the 5 penalties that allowed Italy to win World Cup. He was been one of the best italian defender of all time as well
@@culturalgarden I think in most other countries, here in the UK if I ask people who Materazzi was they usually think of the headbutt, and others don't know who he is.
