for the space marine side: assemble the models as best as you can, including gap filling. Than prime the resin and plastic models black, challenge the viewer to figure out which is which
the gaps...just put together my marines and all were good right up unti one had a split in the shoulder pad. Just does not go together, so much work to fill it terrible place to split the model
@@rhoalpha tamiya extra thin. Add some bits of plastic sprue to it and let it dissolve, you want it to be kind of thick but not goo like in consistency. I call the mixture tamiya extra thicc, great for gap filling plastic minis but you can also use it to gap fill other stuff if you make it thicker.
I would love to see the Marine half of the Leviathan set! Thinks primarily to you I bit the bullet and went all in on 3D printing but now I have a HUGE problem, What to print. Not only do I have three kilos of ABS (Water washable was just WAY too brittle) but hundreds and hundreds of files that I snagged off of C3D over the last year. It's going to take me the rest of the month just to figure out what files I do have. Thank you for showing off what we can do ourselves at a fraction of the cost!

I still bought the leviathan box. Not printing that many models and the book were worth it for me. I still printed the Butov carnifexes and some other stuff though.
Could you do a comparison of both models, after paint is applied? Both having the same paint scheme would make it a great comparison. Just a thought in my head anyways, totally understandable if you decide not to.
For Easy support removal and total resin/iso removal, right after the wash i dipped my models in hot water, they come so clean after that i use recycle ISO

@@Andersonzabuza as long as it's not a GW official tourney, and the models are on the correct sized bases, and are roughly similar in dimension to the original model it's usually fine. Always best to email the organizer ahead of time though with photos to get their official approval.

I think I bought mine on element games, they were like £20 and are Tamiya brand(expensive sure), but they are perfect for cutting through sprues and detailed work. I try to save money on loads of things but they have payed for themselves with cutting things from supports too when i was forced to cure them.

I am wondering whether I should get the mini 8k s or the saturn 2 8k, which are both around $370. I do not know whether you have any experience with the later, but you probably had experiences with 22 microns vs 28 microns, but also smaller vs larger plates. What would you recommend for a complete beginner? Thank you.

The best way to increase your speed of building these armies of printed bugs is by using super glue activating spray. One part gets glue on the other part spray and it really does stick together in literally a second. It's the best thing you can get for small multi part models.

When I printed the Screamer Killer, I had to scale it down to 70% in order to do a full print. Did you manage it in one go or did you do multiple prints??

I would like to force each and every Warhammer player to buy ONE Gundam model kit so that they can have their eyes open to what a good "model building experience" really is. I've built some marines and necrons from the Indomitus box and the experience was from not-even-whelming to straight up garbage. Any of these models will drive the message home - MG Barbatos, RG Sazabi, RG Hi-Nu Gunda, RG God Gundam.
I printed a Neurotyrant that was free, then built my Leviathan version and here is my take. The GW version is much more detailed and better. It looks like the person who did the sculpts used a 3D scanner that missed items. That beimg said, from the table it won't matter. The other thing I would say is that there are better alternatives from other creators like one page rules and others that would be even better than people trying to scan or copy GW. The Neurotyrant you showed was sick though.
The premium STLs are usually more on par with the GW version. I agree they usually have more detail on them though and the fact they're in plastic makes it easier to weld them together with plastic cement.

Chitin is pronounced like kiting, not like shitting :) I much prefer the plastic models personally. For a better fit next time, just cut the pegs off altogether and assemble with plastic glue without the push fit elements. You won't have any gaps that way. That being said, scraping mold lines off is absolutely a huge pain in the ass..

My buddy has a printer and it’s not for me, sure after you pay off the printer you only pay for resin physically. But after factoring in stl cost unless your planning in printing multiples ( I am not) it way more worth it to buy a box from gw
Depends what on your army and if you just want one. GW boxes are great but it’s nice being able to print spare armies to play with those who don’t have any. I have a have a tau army, space marine army, grey knights, couple of titans and a few vehicles. All from free stls and all high quality. The options are endless. However the 3d printing process is messy and toxic. You have to gear up. Prints take a few hours. If that’s not for you then don’t bother with it

Yup, mouldlines are a bitch. But you become sort of an expert if you do it long enough and try different tools. Newer kits are better for it, especially the "premium" ones like Primarchs etc

Put them together in blender, no gap filling or assembly required

Not naming them was probably the best thing those printed nids were nearly one for ones with GWs and we all know how much GW likes that.
I do think 3d printing is great but idk there’s something about building them and getting the box I love.

I think this is my build plate stick issue, water washable is just super brittle. Is the eco friendly stuff also brittle?

For super glue just give a very fine dusting of baking soda before applying the glued component. Strong instant bond.

I put Tamiya Cement Accelerator (Tamiya 87138) on one half of a model and then the Gorilla glue on the other. SUPER fast bond, even on hotter days.
