@@joehudson3072 I bought the 1980 YZ80 . Great bike never ever had a single issue with it but you had to keep the rpm's high because it had poor low rpm power . Once you hit the powerband holy shit LOL.
Those small engines were still very quick back in the day. I had the exact same model , i'm sure mine was a 1979 model though , i think the 1980 model had a different shaped tank amongst other things , i might be wrong though. I enjoyed the video , it brought back some good memories !!
I can’t believe that back when they was new they seemed so fast and now after a modern 125 owner how slow they actually was sounds like 100 mph all the time 😂😂😂😂
Dam. Great stuff man. I freakin LOVED my YZ125G! Mine was yellow, and sleeved to 100CCs for racing. A year later or so I rebuilt her as a 125, and realized that a two year old air cooled YZ125 was ssssssllllloooowww compared to the 1983 125s. My best friend had a brand new 1983 Kawasaki KX125, and aside from being the best looking MX bike of ALL time in my opinion, would yard my YZ in any situation. Same guy had a 1981 Yamaha YZ80H that I wrenched on (he was not allowed near any tools lol, he was my Secretary of Aesthetics and could make ANY MX bike look showroom new. The man was and still is an artist with a spray bottle of ArmorAll) and this bike was .75 over from the stock bore. That stupid 1981 YZ80H was fast enough to keep up with and beat the 1983 KX125 on a tighter MX course, and genuinely embarrassed my 1980 G model YZ125 no matter the venue! But….. I could flick that YZ125G anywhere, any time. It handled excellent, or at least for me haha. I still have a 1981 Yamaha YZ80H in excellent condition, and I’m 56 years old now. I am however, still 12 years old in my head. Just sitting on that 80 brings me right back. Sorry so long winded, but your video really hit me hard, and I felt like I did the second after I very stupidly sold that YZ125.
'79-80 is the of the best looking years for yamaha
Loved my yz125G Wish I still had never sold it.
That's awesome I was on the fence whether to get a yz or a rm in 80 also I got the rm and long since sold it

Ok
That was one beautifull yamaha yz125
How long does it usually take to start on really cold days? How much choke does it need?
3 or 4 kicks full choke for 1 minute usually
Bad ass bike 👍🏻💯
