    Welcome back, been missing you, my cross-pond friend. One of the most fun I ever had was when I ran two groups that started on the opposite sides of the map and adventured to the center. They met and all went after the BBEG that had been causing both groups all their trouble. The last of the campaign was a grand combined adventure with 10 players at the table.

      That’s epic! I’d love to do something like that but I doubt scheduling would be easy for that 😂

      @@LokisLair It was the same night, but every other week for the two groups. When they came together, it became every week for both groups, so they were all in.

    The hot start is my personal favorite.
    I started my first campaign off imforming my players after a night at a tavern they had found themselves press-ganged into being marines on a ship.
    They had been on they voyage to a settlement for a few days when two small, ruined ships floated above the water crewed by skeleton pirates.

    Nice video! I would love to see more about adventure zones in a later video, they lookreally evocative on a map but it's hard to make the actual zone as interesting as the name

    Oh the random encounter rant is beautiful, Pointy Hat just did a video on the topic proposing 'exciting' preplanned story-driven not-random travel encounters and I almost switched to it. Yah I don't want no fairy tale, I *want* random 1d6 bandits + a cap'n to screw the party over once in a while. Love you dude.

    Veiled Society. City based, definitely different from the other ones you've run. Not as beloved as the others, but still an interesting entry to the BX line of modules. Castle Amber would also be an interesting one to see more on.

    If you haven't already, look into The Isle of Dread. Classic adventure, incredibly well detailed, but still flexible enough to be adjusted and tweaked. I first learn of it from a video by Seth Skorkowsky, and I've run sections of it in my own game. Would definitely suggest looking into it if you're looking for something new.

    I think the biggest issue I have with designing travel encounters, espeically for something like a hexcrawl, is that the newer games give the players back everything on a long rest. An encounter which challenges them tends to be pretty close to deadly.

  • @EruditeDM
    @EruditeDM 5 месяцев назад +2

    Poor wilderness or boring travel criticisms are the DMs fault. Try planning out your point crawl and don’t rely on aimless walking and an hourly random encounter roll to advance the story and fun!

    Would love to see a video on dwellers of the forbidden city if it isn’t too close to Lost City. Giant city map with so much potential for sandbox play but really begging for a homebrewed climax or finale - I hope to run it some day with an aspect of demogorgon being summoned at the end

      @@LokisLair That sounds cool. I've seen a lot of people around talking positively about Shadowdark, DCC as well now that I think about it. Is Shadowdark similar to 5e? I'm learning and running Mythras at the moment which is a very intriguing system. It does frontload quite a bit of prep on the DM though, which can be daunting. I was bitten by the d100 bug a while ago through Call of Cthulhu and Delta Green.
