I hate to admit it, but I’ve just recently stumbled upon your channel. I listened closely to your mission statement and thought, wow, it’s about time! I’m a 72 yr young retired charter Captain from the Great Lakes area, and over the last 20 years have become disillusioned by the over-commercialization of our sport. I’m pleased to see what you guys are doing to communicate priorities to your viewers, with the main focus on the resources, techniques, and sharing the amazing beauty in every setting. Please allow me to say THANK YOU, and God bless you and your mission!
Jay...THANK YOU!!! Your kind words and support are TRULY appreciated! This is a labor of love, and hearing from folks like you means the world to us. Thank you for your years behind the helm and good luck on the water!
It has more to do with the lack of dams and lack of ocean commercial fishing for them. Same genetics, they just need to survive 5-6 years out in our ocean to get that big!
@@DayOneOutdoors I bet it was! I can’t imagine. But I like the message day one outdoors puts out there. I’ve been spreading the channel out to the group of people I fish with. Keep them coming! 🤙🏾
Great series. Love it. Just found your channel. You definitely need to check out the Argentina Patagonia side. They got steelhead in the Santa Cruz river and salmon too. Big sea run brown trout also. Jurassic lake is also amazing too.
Thanks for the support! We are definitely trying to get back there! You have my attention with Steelhead! A good buddy of mine fishes jurassic yearly...unreal pics!
We didn't! We wanted to avoid snagging if at all possible. Highly restricted waters with heavy fly angler regulations and did not want to even appear to be trying to break the rules!

Cody
why don't we get some of their eggs and plant back in Oregon and Washington?
Their fish are bigger as they were from our older/bigger stock
It has more to do with the lack of dams and lack of ocean commercial fishing for them. Same genetics, they just need to survive 5-6 years out in our ocean to get that big!
@@DayOneOutdoors Makes sense
Awesome!!! Anxiously awaiting #3!!!😁😁😁
Thanks for the support!
Love the underwater camera shot!
Great to see another video! Before you caught the first one I was waiting to see if you'd try a 360 flasher.
When we filmed this, it wasn't a popular technique yet!
Simply awsome!
Thanks so much! I Appreciate the support!
love this channel, very informative, the tactics and tips and tricks have proven themselves over the years, thank you cody.
Thanks for supporting us!
Hardware & plugs always kids. Learn lessons. 🤙🏻🐟
Especially in Rivers where there are "bait and scent restrictions" ... ;)
I would love to get down there someday those are some monsters
It was a blast and very memorable! hope to go back soon!
That bloody tuna has caught me almost every kind of fish here in the pnw
That heavy tuna oil just seems to work for everything!
Enjoyed the video guys! Must be weird catching these fish not at home! Keep it up! 🤙🏾
It was really cool seeing our same fish so far away!

Curious as to what if any commercial fishing of these runs exists.
When we were there, it was only the bet oen commercial fish. Not sure if that has changed!
Such a great video! Did you try twitching?

@@DayOneOutdoors yea...roger!
Did you guys try beads? Guarantee you would've caught more fish bobber fishing big beads under a float! looks just like eggs!
We did not! There are several techniques we wish we tried while there! Just need to go back!
Bad ass
That first fish had to be over 40
We should've brought a scale!
Why can’t you just say Brads? Sponsor issues? Sure looked like mini cut plugs catching the fish.
We were asked not to by the manufacturer as they were under product testing at the time of filming. 😉
@@DayOneOutdoors what year was this?
don't do what alaska did to our kings.
Lovely deep fresh fish ,but boring and not so good fishing.
Not every day is lights out fishing! Take a look at part 1 or part 3 and see if that excites you a bit more with that action. Thanks for watching!
