I,m German and love kohlrabi.
We're not German, but we love it too!
The Garden Show is a must see show every Thursday night. I first started using drip tape in 2004 and I always tell folks once you convert to drip you will never go back to overhead watering.
That's right! Drip is a game-changer for sure!
Great garden information 👍🏼
Thanks Beverly!
The Cherokee Tan pumpkin we have found will last for a year if you cut the stem long. It does seem to taste better than the Seminole pumpkin. You should have a great crop they are easy to grow.
We're very excited about it!
Great information, thank you!
You're welcome Robert!
Love this show and customer service is great
Thanks Larry!
Good show, thanks for the information.
Thanks Ryan!
I always catch the show in the middle on Facebook so it's great I can go RUclips when it's over and see the whole thing. I've been using drip irrigation for several years using the 15mil because I wanted it to last reusing it over and over. It works great and would recommend it to everyone. The only problem I've had is that I had to remove the regulator, plastic washer with a small hole, from the filter-regulator because I didn't have enough pressure and that solved my problem and if anyone else has had this problem, I would recommend what I did first. Drill the hole bigger and if that doesn't work, just remove it.
Glad you are enjoying your drip system Ronny!
Really enjoy watching and listening to you guys!
Thanks Cody!
You have Avery helpful show.
Another excellent show
Excellent information.
Thanks John!
That is great, good information and a chance to win a prize.
Thanks Pam!
Great channel all the seeds I put in your seeds trays have grown out just fine
Great to hear! Hope you have an excellent garden this year.
I used ChatGPT today and gave it my all my garden information and it spit out how long and how often I should water my garden using crazy math formulas. I did have to ask questions in different ways to coax out the info, but I was impressed that I was watering about 15 minutes too long per week given my water PSI, mainline dimensions, drip tape length, diameter, spacing, and GPM, plus factoring in soil type, PH, sun direction, and everything else. WOW! What a info dump!
Very informative show boys! I didn't realize how much water falls when we get an inch of rain. Got 2" a couple days ago, so I figure approx 92,323 gallons fell on my property. Wow!
Yep! That's a heap of water if you think about it.
I bought my Cherokee Tan pumpkin seeds from Danny and Wanda last year and was not disappointed. I had zero problems with vine borers or powdery mildew in my hot and humid climate. High production, great taste and stores well.
That's awesome! I bought some fir this years garden and have been wondering how it fares against vine border.
Good to hear. We look forward to being able to add them to our seed lineup.
water is my biggest trouble, I over water often thanks guys
Too much water is usually wasting water. You're welcome and thanks for watching!
Really enjoy your show!
Thanks Scott!
Great show. Watering has always been a challenge. I am using your subsoil drip lines and have, in past years, under watered. I have very sandy soil and after watching this program I will be increasing my time to 60 minutes a day. . Thank you for the advice.
You're welcome Al. Make sure you give those plants enough water!
Awesome show as always
Thanks Stephen!
Another great show fellows!
Thanks Billy!
Thanks for all your help!!!
You're welcome Larry!
Already got my melons down and growing
Sounds good!
Love the show
Just got last weeks seed order planted and ordered more today. Looking forward to good things from the garden this year. Took y'alls advice and sectioned off my garden this year. Those 300 ft rows will wear an old man out
Indeed they will. Shorter rows make things seem much more manageable.
Good info
Thanks Craig!
Another very educational show. Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Lots of good info - Thanks !!!
Thanks for watching Alan!
Great info
Thanks Justin!
great job guys
Thanks Rhonda!
You guys are way ahead of those of us in PA. But we’re having a pretty warm spring, making me wish I had started a few things earlier!
Y'all will get there soon enough!
Great show guys!!
Thanks TB!
Great info thanks!!
Thanks for watching John!
I enjoy your shows. Very informational...
Thanks Laura!
Another great show, guys! I'm trying to follow your math....May have to watch this video a couple of time, LOL! I've been watering everyday that doesn't rain, and so far, it looks like I'm gettin' it right. I've got good, ole' Florida sandy soil that I've amended with mushroom compost and chicken manure compost, so it's holding water better than when I started this garden in 2013. I'll be in hog heaven when I can get a drip tape kit! And, man, the sun is really fierce here - I may need to even shade cloth my tomatoes and peppers by late June. And you're right about Hoss seeds germinating fast! I just got my flower seeds, and when I last checked, the zinnias I planted Monday have all germinated and are up about 1" and about half of the Giant Sunflower seeds are up. My question for this week is: How big do these flower seedlings need to get before you plant them out?
When they can be easily pulled from the trays -- that's usually when we transplant them.
Thank's, @@gardeningwithhoss !
I sure could use a drip kit. I used it at my old place, but I am kicking myself for not bringing it to my new place. Congrats on the 1 year anniversary!
Thanks Carrie! Hopefully you get lucky when we do the drawing!
Love the videos
Thanks Dylan!
Thank you, finally a clear explanation. Can't wait to plant.
It's getting that time!
Great video fellas!!
Thanks Andrew!
love the videos and keep them coming
Thanks Gerald! We sure will!
Watching you guys every show!
Thanks for joining us Daniel!
You guys don’t just sell garden tools. You get people excited about growing their own food. I learn more on this channel than most other channels. I enjoy the southern style of good ol boy conversation. Reminds me of my buddies back in Alabama.
That's what we've been all about since day one -- helping people grow their own food.
Just received my drip irrigation hoping next years garden does great. Im sure I will need to watch all your videos available on the subject.
Great video really like watching our video is really knowledgeable and I am just about ready to start planting my garden and I feel more confident with you all share in all the tips y’all share on these videos so now I feel really confident on my garden thank y’all for doing the show every week it’s awesome
Glad we could provide that confidence!
Love how helpful your videos are
Thanks for joining us Robbie!
Thank yall. Appreciate all the info.
Thanks for watching!
Love your guys videos and products
Thanks Mick
Wooooooooo hoss tools to the rescue!!!
Get your weekly fix!
Comment... :) Extremely useful information. I just water by eye... but I'm gonna cipher on this some. I haven't heard these guys mention it, but you can buy shut off valves for your drip tape, and you can water different items in your garden at different rates... which also helps with fertilizer injection... you can do different rates for each crop. Takes more management, but you can get it done.
Yes, you can certainly do that. You can put shut-off valves on each row, or a section of rows with the mainline valves.
Home run show guys!! Excellent info on irrigation. Very adaptable for different situations.
Glad we knocked it out of the park!
Love the show. Keep up the excellent work..
Thanks Peter!
Thanks for explaining watering so I can use the equation for my size garden
You're very welcome Roger!
Interesting information.
Thanks for watching!
I'm way north of you and can't grow a good portion of your crops. I haven't skipped an episode yet, keep 'em coming.
You can grow vicariously with us! Thanks for being a loyal viewer.
Great show hoss tools are great. I will keep on buying.
We appreciate your business George!
Wow, I asked a question on last week's video about how long to run my drip irrigation, and I got a whole 30 minute video!! You guys are awesome. Does this count as you answering my question for a prize???
Sure! Send us your address to custserv@hosstools.com.
Y'all show is one of the best around. So nice to hear tips and tricks from other southern gardeners.
Thanks!
Enjoy the show and tips keep it up
Thanks Trace! Will do.
I love watching your videos!!! What about soils with a high level of organic material in soil? You talked about sandy and clay soils. What about carrots? You have said that you will run the drip tape all night to get germination. looking forward to growing some of your seeds next year.
We didn't mention soaking the beds for germination, which is a different animal. We were mainly talking about watering plants that up and producing vegetables. When trying to get seeds to germinate, we do soak the entire bed which means running the drip for a while.
Great episode and the water topic was very well timed. It's been a very discouraging year so far. I've lost my second batch of okra and all my squash. I have good stands of corn, tomatoes and greens but it's a daily battle to keep the bugs from killing everything. I've never seen such a strong pest pressure in 30 years of gardening at my place. After losing so many plants over and over I began to question everything I was doing, and not doing. Was I was watering too much or not enough? Did I fertilize too much, or not enough? It's been a real battle to say the least. My confidence is shot and it's pretty stressful. But your water lesson helped put at least one of the questions to rest. I'm only about 2.5 hours to your immediate east but I guess the area is still drastically different. Thanks for your input and help..
Let's hope your gardening luck gets better this year!
Great show and as always enjoy all the tips.
Question I have is how do you know when to and when to stop hilling potatoes?
Sounds like a great question for next week's show!
Enjoyed the video and listening to some RUclipsrs that talk like me. Watching from south Mississippi...not too far from Danny from DeepSouth
Thanks for joining us from Mississippi!
Finally, a great gardening channel close to home. Better information for my area.
Thanks for joining us Al!
Greg I'm with you no need to grow hot hot peppers
Gotta spice it up every now and then!
I just planted 112 Bella Rosa and Brickyard tomatoe transplants. I didn't figure I would have good germination because this was the first time I started from seed. Well I didn't have 100% but I did have 98% and I probably goofed the other 2% up.
Hey, that's pretty great for the first time!
I only buy my seeds from you guys I do like the pelleited seed. I have had 100% germ so far
Great to hear!
Excellent segment on irrigation, never considered or heard of holding capacity, great job
Thanks!
I look forward to your show every week.
Thanks for watching David!
We prune tomatoes up to the first flower cluster to reduce spread of disease
Always a good practice.
Hey y’all the wife and I found you guys a few months ago and love you shows and tips. We have just started clearing trees in the yard to put in a garden and can’t wait to get it cleared and start growing our own food.
That's a very exciting time. Best of luck when you get your garden going!
Great video. Glad I found your channel. You present good info for old timers and newbies alike. I was born in germany were to had to have a garden or starve. So I learned young. After 73 years I am still learning.
Glad you found us Hans! Welcome!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
Our pleasure!
Great episode. All of your videos are extremely helpful and have lots of good information. I appreciate what you guys do. Congratulations on your one-year milestone!
We're currently battling the worst pest pressure I have ever experienced in my many years of gardening. Very nearly lost the entire garden almost overnight to the bugs. Neem oil really does do the trick, especially on aphids, which is the biggest pest issue for my garden right now. With a little luck, good fortune, and neem oil we may actually win the battle against the pests this time around.
Spray late in the evenings and spray on a regular schedule and you should be able to put a solid dent in that pest population.
enjoy your tips and tricks (and your humor). glad you are based just west of us so we can try to "monkey see, monkey do" your techniques. you can keep the kohlrabi tho. how do we lessen the attraction of ants to our plants?
keep up the good work
Ants usually gravitate towards undisturbed areas. If you cultivate your garden frequently, ants usually aren't a problem.
No doubt this the best gardening channel you will ever find.
Thanks for the plug Buck!
You got that right this is the best gardening show
@@gardeningwithhoss You guys are outstanding. The interaction between y'all just brings out such useful information that all can use much like the two minute tips and Gardening with Greg. Just hoping you guys don't get tired of or bored with making these videos. I tell all my friends to check out your channel and send them links to it.
Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge. We take something away from each episode. God bless you both.
You're very welcome and God bless!
You guys are a great help . Thank you for the time you put in .
We enjoy doing it. Thanks for joining us!
Keep the shows coming gentlemen, one of the best if not the best out there.
Thanks Chuck! We don't have any plans of stopping anytime soon.
Very informative, thank you!
You're very welcome Amy!
Planted my pole beans today. Enjoying your videos. You should release your videos
as a podcast as well.
We do convert the weekly show into a podcast. They can be found on our website here: hosstools.com/wheel-hoe-blog/
I always look forward to the show!
Thanks for watching!
Been watching the show from the beginning. Love it. Great information.
Glad you to have you here since day one!
Another good show gentleman, I really enjoy them. Congrats on your upcoming 52nd episode.
Used my newly arrived wheel hoe drip tape attachment to put in a few hundred feet of tape in the ground. Could not have gone easier, what a great system!
Glad you enjoyed it. It certainly makes the process easier. Thanks for the pepper seeds!
@@gardeningwithhoss you're welcome. Mine are just now popping up after being planted a few weeks ago. Cool nights did not help the process at all though.
From further south than you guys, zone 10a, thanks for the good info!
Way down there!
Hoss Tools any reliable and consistent site for vegetable planting times this far south that you can recommend?Seems like there is so much conflicting information that at times I have no idea when to plant something. Thank you.
You're probably not going to find much for that zone. Even here in zone 8b, most of the published planting times are way off compared to what we normally do. So we just go by feel a majority of the time.
Hoss Tools thank you for your time and quick reply. I’m picking through info and doing a lot of experimenting and learning! Lol
I sure am enjoying the show. I actually have learned a bunch
Thanks Wayne!
Perfect timing for this show. Is there any consideration on watering patatoes.?
Just keep the plants upright. They don't need a ton of water, but wants to keep them from wilting during the day.
Thanks for all the information yall provide. I tried some of your corn seeds this year direct sown and they have done great so far. I do want to ask about side dressing your corn plants? I currently do not have drip irrigation.
We side dress with chilean nitrate before the first hilling. Here's a video showing how we do it: ruclips.net/user/dashboard?o=U&ar=2
Great show tonight! Got a question do you plant or have you ever planted rattlesnake beans on both sides of your cow panel?
Yes we have. They will grow great, but harvest becomes a little bit of a pain because there's so much foliage to fight through.
Thanks for the tip on the calshot romaine. I just ordered some.
It's beautiful stuff!
I have learned a good bit from yall this past year. Appreciate you guys.
We appreciate you as a viewer!
I should have clarified, my raw seed was not from you guys but Johnny's. Sometimes I forget you guys are running a business and aren't just buddies on RUclips because I have had only positive experiences with yalls products.
@@cfowler12317 we are buddies, but we also really enjoy helping people grow their own food.
Great show. Love the information and down home humor the way presented.
Thanks Tony!
Great show tonight guys like usual. Wasn't planning on breaking out the pen and paper though but awesome information especially for us that are new to drip tape. Congrats on your one year!
Thanks Jimmy. A little math to keep the brain sharp never hurts.
And count me in the drawing 😎
Got it!
Thank you for this informative video, all makes sense with what you have advised. Great tutorial and will share this video too! Do keep them coming!
We sure will!
Another great show gentleman. This was very helpful. I had no idea corn needed so much. I pretty sure that is by mine failed last year. Zone9b
Corn loves water -- lots of it!
So glad I found your channel a few weeks ago! You guys are a hoot but also give great info!
Glad you found us!
Love the show! I watch every Friday morning. Gets me pumped for weekend gardening.
Good to hear. Glad we can get you in the gardening mood!
I'm so glad to have found this channel! I really appreciate all the info you've put on here.
Glad you found us too Sara!
