The WiPhone project is an open source mobile phone capable of making free calls through the internet. The phone is intended to be hackable, modular, cheap, and open while remaining usable by everyday people. It makes calls over WiFi only (no cellular radio).
This video shows how to disassemble the phone, a brief tour of the major components, then how to reassemble it.

Would this phone be able to send and receive messages from work apps like Amazon Chime using Wi-Fi for a work phone and would it be able to use PTT or air phone? Maybe not the latter. Let me know if any of this is possible? We still use radios that are very hard to understand peoples communications. This is cheap enough that it might be able to replace bad communication with clear communication. I see potential here. Would any of this require a bot to make it work for Amazon Chime? May be a silly question, but I am asking anyway.
I love to see a qwerty keyboard with this phone.
Can we add a good quality camera with it? (To Capture documents)
Does this phone support Phone sim cards? ik you can make calls by VOIP and messages with Lora, but how does it really works.
It uses WiFi + VoIP. There is an add-on that will let you use a SIM card, but it's not required.
@@ESP32WiPhone I will be looking for that addon, cause here in México there is no free WiFi in public zones. Gonna have to learn how esp32 works to add that into the WiPhone then.
