A ton of love (and tears) went into this one! You can get the track here 👉 shorturl.at/cEHwj
I like how they waited to release it in time with the solstice even though it was obviously recorded in like 1982
Tunes like this are best served cold. 38 years old.
Nah, BS. We're in the 60s!
This sounds just like Yes
Mission accomplished then
Because Tim Follin lifted it from Tales from Topographic Oceans
Ah, fantasy prog rock. The best rock
There really is no better descriptor. And yes, it is the best.
YES. Really sounds like Tim Follin was in no Rush to create the Genesis of chip prog, and he did it by himself with no one to ELP him.
Welp. Guess you win the comments.
Who?
Think this was his first shot or just a leftoverture?
In another universe... Tim Follin's band
Bro we wish!
I cried prog rock tears listening to this. Instant subscribe.
Prog rock tears are in 15/8
I feel a Gentle Giant vibe, and this is marvelous. This Follin's composition is a real masterpiece.
Wish this cover was on Spotify !
Ain’t that the truth. Sadly, we couldn’t get this one on Spotify because of licensing issues. It’s free on our bandcamp page though 😎
For once RUclips recommended me something that I am SO INTO!!!!
The algorithm is finally giving us some lil kisses. Welcome to the party, bub.
This is just amazing. You knocked it out of the park with this cover. Bravo! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey thanks bub
Solstice game designers:
How much can you make it sound like Rush?
Game music composers: YES
You dare to not mention Tim Follin by name??? The most legendary chip tune artist of our time???
Hey, not everyone knows the Mt Rushmore of VGM. Alls we can say is, welcome to the party and be sure to check out Silver Surfer.
I see what you did there.
You think that's crazy?
Check out his work on something like the Agent X 2 title theme, Tim Follin is an actual wizard... Because agent x was during a time when he had to use 1 single sound channel, at least solstice he had 5 channels, but with agent x he had ONE.
@@HypnoPantsOnline and 1 channel that was inferior in every possible way to each of the 5 the NES has at that...
this sounds almost exactly like jethro tull, even though it's an 8 bit composition lol!
i think the original 8 bit track sounds like jethro tull too!
For sure. Follin def had a thing for 70s prog.
I always thought this song was a real banger! Glad to know other people feel the same.
Dude you KNOW it
This one and Journey to Silius. Top 10
Criminally undersubscribed channel. I happened to watch a composer breakdown of this Tim Follin classic, and the algorithm has blessed me with glory.
Glad to have ya buddy! FWIW this video is suddenly and mysteriously blowing up, like 2.5 years after we released it. Feels validating, not gonna lie.
Same!
@@MadGearBandCornell, a jazz pianist analyzed a few of Tim Follin's tunes, you guys rock 👏👏
Charles Cornell! Please, at least mention him by his name! He's a great teacher.
Now do the Pictionary title theme
We’ll see 😎
you transcended time, dudes!
Just Follin into the ether
I've always wanted to see this covered! You guys are amazing!
Thanks pal. Labor of love for sure.
Absolutely tore it up. Well done.
Thanks bub
everyone is clearly having a blast here, shit rules
You know it baby
I don't know how this cover eluded me all this time when this is one of my favorite videogame tunes.
You guys did it justice, nice cover.
gives off gentle giant and elp vibes
Those are the *exact* vibes we strive to exude
Yesss 🙌🏼 the original had no right being so good, and y’all really did it justice
Thanks for that, pal 😎
epic childhood memories
Happy to take ya back bub
Wait for the RUclips algorithm to kick in. This will be huge in 2028.
Can’t wait
Popular piano RUclipsr Charles Cornell discussed it on his channel. It’s definitely giving this video some traffic
this is incredible!! reminds me of ELP and Yes!! :3
Those are big complements that we will gladly accept
Man, you guys really went for the soundscape Tim Follin was aiming for with this. The Solstice theme is the work of a madman.
It’s good to be seen. 😎
Follin is an all-time great, no doubt.
Yes Vibes
Those are the vibes we strive to have
Came here because of a hankerin’. Thanks for providin’. Wonderful cover!
Son, we’ll soothe any dingdang hankerin this side of the equator
I had no clue this was in store for my listening pleasure tonight. How about a sequel with some Equinox covers? Excellent work :)
Haha maybe one day, duder. Those Follin tunes will wear you out
Ohhh wow v vv cool dudez
Quality Kermit right there
Yes, to all of this. Excellent job on the cover and video presentation.
Thanks bub. Def lots of time and love in this one
YOOOO the music and the video are both amazing. congrats
Thanks for that - we worked hard on this one
Congrats on pulling this off!
Thanks buddy! Ngl, we cursed Follin's name once or twice. Genius stuff, but not easy.
Awesome!
U r 🤙
Wow! This is my favorite game of all time. What an amazing job you gentlemen have done on this piece of music history. Thank you so much and I am now subscribing!
Stoked you enjoyed it bub. Welcome to the party.
Love It!
Love YOU
This rules! I wondered what it would sound like eith real guitars, and you answered that beautifully
We like answering life’s burning questions. Thanks for watching, friend-o.
Well this was impressive.
Tim Follin took a lot of inspirations from Prog rock, from what I've read. Hearing it come together like this feels so fitting.
This was easily one of the most challenging tunes we’ve ever covered, so having folks come around and enjoy it is a treat
lml
Remembering my childhood!!!
Happy to take you there
God I needed that.
Happy to give ya the goods
Yea! This is great 👍🏼 😎
Preesh!
This needs way more views
Tell your mama and them!
WOOOO
WAAAAAAAH
Very good
🤌🏼
So amazing he was able to do this on NES
He did the most
This is fucking amazing
Uh oh we’re over here blushing ☺️
When I was in a jazz/prog band in 2019 I made my bandmates listen to the original NES Solstice theme and they just couldn't take it seriously. They said it just sounded like beeps and boops to them. I felt like if they couldn't hear the musical composition and tech mastery behind this... then they just weren't real musicians. Or they were pro snobs.
Pardon my French, but your former band mates sound like a buncha frickin ding-dongs.
@@MadGearBand Big poopooheads
Dang. Thanks for this! This is amazing. It would fit perfectly on a King Crimson album
Us and King Crimson mentioned in the same sentence… it’s a wild world man.
@@MadGearBand alongside legendary Tim Follin. Great roots makes great band DNA. Hope you stick with it! His chiptune work requires no small amount of natural ability to perform and you guys nailed it!
Nice
You are!
Kinda feels like I’m listening to mid 70s genesis.. outstanding.
That’s a good feeling and we’re happy to give that feeling to you
Everyone saying Yes or ELP but nobody is saying Jethro Tull
You are saying it, my dude. You are saying it, and that’s enough. 🥰
How did you manage to fill an entire band with Hugbees throughout different times in his life?
Idk what this comment means, but the answer is hard work and dedication. If you believe in yourself, you can also looks like Hugbess throughout different times in his life.
Yes with a saxophone player!
🎷 😎
I love you+!
No, we love you+!
Sounds like Tim follin loved Rush
Pretty sure he’s on record as a lover of prog.
have you considered the ultima 4 nes soundtrack?
that game is quite special to me, both in story, mechanics, and also the music was incredible.
Not familial, but we’ll have to give it a listen!
Todd Rundgren vibes
Oh we’ll take that
Best cover of the song I ever found! Can I use this to a video that I'm making for shorts? If yes I'll credit ^^
Uh sure?
@@MadGearBand Thanks a lot!
holy shit
👼🏻 💩
i normally wouldnt have clicked on this video.
but.
i was watching(had to pause it just to listen to this because i knew it would be epic) a charles cornell video explaining some music that's just too good for the nes sound system.....and in it he played the intro of solstice(a game i havent played yet).....and on the related videos on the side of the page i saw this one...and clicked on it......
However you got here, we’re glad to have you, bub. Tbh the video you mentioned is probably why this video has gotten a huge bump in the past few days. Thanks, Mr Cornell.
Can confirm I'm getting you guys on my yt recommendations after watching Charles Cornell. I'm also getting Jethro Tull so you guys should be flattered ha
my man, that's how I got here not even 2 hours later xD
Can any one tell me the name of this video effect?
Great video - and awesome performance btw
Thanks bub! We got an old friend of ours to create that, he said it’s basically just video feedback. I couldn’t find a way to do it in Resolve (although there might be a way)
O...M....F...G...

Big big THE SHIZZ moment
Big big complement
