Watching the 15 year old you and the 19 year old you show the progression from prodigy to genius. You had it from a young age. The skill set will make you famous.
I once worked with Selah Sue as sound engineer in Belgium, this takes me back to those days. I didn't expect a cover of her on your channel, it's just so well done!
I thought I went through your entire catalog multiple times. This popped up by accident yesterday and I can't stop listening to it. Your playing is so tight and the tone is perfect...somehow in the intro it literally sounds like you're on the stage. Blows me away this was *over* five years ago. Great job younger you!
Yeah...the 'younger one' remains so good these videos are gems! I hear what you mean in the intro, I suspect a subtle spatial effect was done in the post processing, but could be wrong.....
That one was brilliant, and done with lots of subtlety. Selah Sue's work is so full of soul, but I couldn't imagine you'd know about her. After all, she hasn't been touring the whole World ! And you're perfectly right, by saying this bassline is a must. Her bassist (whose name I ignore) left a strong souvenir in me when I went to their live concert... and you're making this re-live. Thank you so much for yet another great moment !
Absolu. Continue je t'en prie. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Julia... you make me discover a lot of good music.. this live masterpiece is so good ....all your cover are good tribute to the original of course but it's more then that... you make 10 of thousands of peoples wanna play bass and you make us in love with your loud bass.... i'm listening to your covers in my truck and at home ...keep having fun grooving that bass... we'll be there to support you ❤👍
Julia, you are blessed with this gift and you developed it very well..amazing. Watching all your vids. as a bass player myself, I am very entertained by your skill. The bass is an extension of you!!
Just beyond. Blown away by your talents! Like many others, i couldnt get enough of the turned up bass of these songs, great taste! And so I'm almost done binging on your videos. I think you'd fare well playing any Slightly Stoopid song OR venture into any PRINCE!
Wow! I was looking for some new stuff to watch during my morning workout and happened to come across this, what a surprise, subscribed right away. Beautiful! Also opened up a new .and of music for me too. Thank You.
Olá! Sou do Brasil e conheci seus videos a pouco tempo , você me inspirou a voltar a gravar e estudar nossos estilo. Muito Obrigado. Você é ótima no que faz! Hello! I am from Brazil and I met your videos a short time ago, you inspired me to go back to recording and studying new styles. Thank you. You're great at what you do!
Great cover as usual! Can you answer a question? Is there a slight hammer-on on the first note of the riff at 1:45 and 1:52? It sounds like it's not just a single note, but it's so fast, I can't really tell from your finger movement.
Omar Roncal To answer questions about Julia and her equipment. Julia is from Poland. Hi everyone! My name is Julia, I'm 18 year old self-taught bass player. I play bass since December 2013. My gear: -Sterling by Music Man S.U.B. Ray4 -Zoom B3 (interface and effects) Q: Whats program do you use for record the bass sound? A: I use Audacity Q: How do u record with such an amazing sound ? A: I plug in bass to interface audio, then i record it in DAW software Thanks for watching my videos! I don't take requests! :) Copied from her home youtube page.
Hey you play more than great, it's terrific. Look, i saw in your videos that you always record with Audacity. Taking into account how great you make that bass sound, and that you play really good try using another DAW Software. I tell you this because you could get a GREAT tone (even better than now)... Otherwise it's like a waste of talent and sound, you may also start recording your own songs. I recommend you Reaper or Cubase, etc. There are plenty of tutorials in youtube to learn how to use those programs. Anyway you have true talent! Keep it up! Greetings from Argentina
I'd like to offer the opposing view, especially in view of the 5 likes that comment got. Ehhhh???!! It's very unlikely using different software would affect the sound at all - I don't know about features and operation (cos I only use Audacity and for simple recording, dubbing, A/B comparisons, stuff like that, not much editing involved) but there is definitely nothing wrong with Audacity for sound. How do I know this? I've used it for years with decent monitors and also Sennheiser HD250 Linear-II which are very revealing headphones. Sometimes I have to do A/B comparisons for sound quality as part of my job. I have also investigated carefully what does and what does not affect sound changes from electronics more than most people. In any PC audio situation especially with Windows 7 you DO have to be careful about sample rates and avoiding broken ASRCs [asynchronous sample rate converters] that are built into the OS - but that is not a problem in Audacity, and can affect other software anyway. What can affect sound negatively is: (1) the specs we know about (like frequency response, noise and distortion) but that are not properly understood or written down, let alone *measured* (that's right, those printed specs are often used to mislead and deceive! You have to measure these things to know the real deal, and more expensive gear is not always better). and (2) Compaction (MP3 etc). It is already obvious Julia cares about sound and uses decent sources, and has very good processing on her bass. RUclips's compaction, (AAC at over 100kbps, or sometimes Opus at lower stream rates), is quite benign, good sources still sound good on youtube, thanks Google. Nah, keep your money and maybe one day spend it on a better instrument, although the sound you get out of that SUB is already quite outstanding!
using another DAW will not automatically result in a different sound. You got the sound from your bass itself and the interface you are using. If there is a VST or postproduction in generell, you can do it in any DAW you want to.
hi gorgeous!!! you're groove is amazing!! i really love it, go on like this...may i ask you what type of exercise you do? maybe you could add me on fbaand talk about this if u don't mind, etta ros, or bass.etta.ros on Instagram...i play bass since 1 year and you're a big inspiration for me....please also what live is it this one??
Wow I do the same but my technique and timing is not as good as yours ehehe. How many hours do you dedicate to the practice? and what about theory, how you study that? hammer on and pull off? i think after 1 y my timing is quite ok, but my playing misses colour :( Sorry to bother with all this questions :)
I practice about an hour a day, If it comes to theory, I practice with metronome and play chord tones, scales and stuff all over the neck in specific key and later try to apply them in bass lines. For technique, I like to play along with songs, but when I'm struggling with something, I practice it with metronome from slow to quick tempo. :)

Those sparkly particles floating around at the beginning of this video looks so cool...
You have very interesting song choices. I like it.
Selah Sue has a little bit of a Gwen Stefani quality to her voice. First time hearing Selah Sue. Julia's covers are exposing me to some great artist.
That one was brilliant, and done with lots of subtlety. Selah Sue's work is so full of soul, but I couldn't imagine you'd know about her. After all, she hasn't been touring the whole World !

Her name Saleh is biblical I think it means in the direction of music.
Most scholars really don't know what "saleh" means, best guess is "pause" ...but that is not even certain.
BTW, that artist's voice reminds me of Tash Sultana.
Did Nirvana lift that bass line for In Bloom or?
