I’m on a campaign in my church to reinstate these beautiful old songs. They satisfy the soul in a way the new ones don’t. I’m starting to make inroads, thank the Lord. With God’s help I will continue.
I used to grow up in a congregational church alot like this, honestly thank you for uploading this. Not only are you sharing the love and pride your family have singing these hymnals but also giving people like me the opportunity to relive some memories and join in! God bless you & happy (late) Easter, Pastor Daniel!
Alas! and did my Savior bleed And did my Sov’reign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I? [Alternate version: For sinners such as I?] At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine- And bathed in its own blood- While the firm mark of wrath divine, His soul in anguish stood. At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Was it for crimes that I had done He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! grace unknown! And love beyond degree! At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Well might the sun in darkness hide And shut his glories in, When Christ, the mighty Maker died, For man the creature’s sin. At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Thus might I hide my blushing face While His dear cross appears, Dissolve my heart in thankfulness, And melt my eyes to tears. At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! But drops of grief can ne’er repay The debt of love I owe: Here, Lord, I give myself away, ’Tis all that I can do. At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away, It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day!
Wow. I’ve never seen all the verses. Thank you! Another alternate to “such a worm as I” is “such a one as I,” which is what is in our current song book - but I still sing “such a worm as I.” Not only is it the original wording, it’s also more description - and apt. Who are we compared to His greatness?! And yet He loves us! “Amazing pity, grace unknown, and love beyond degree.” 🙏❤️
Amen. To GOD be the glory to our LORD and Personal Saviour JESUS CHRIST. Greetings form your beloved brethren here in Ipil Fundamental Baptist Church, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Province, Philippines.
instrumental music not authorized anywhere in NT,............and indeed was never used until hundreds of years later. Singing and making melody in your heart is the command, it is worship praise to God. He is the subject to which our music is to be directed , not for our carnal ear's entertainment.

I miss these songs. They are so comforting.

I know, right?
Most churches, even independent Baptists have music that sounds more like a rock concert.
As well as strobe lights, and fog machines
Listening again in 2024. And sharing with others. ❤️🙏🎶
Watching from Philippines
Since I found this chanel here I've been using and singing these hymns with my 4th-5th graders at school.
Regards from Lima, Perú

Daniel, Where is this Baptist Church. I will love to attend to their one of their services. I have listened to their hymns many times and blessed.
AT 0:29 "... For such a worm as I?".
Actually, the original lyrics go ".... For sinners such as I?".
Who changed it and why? 🤔
