Sam Hill and Cecile Ravanel dominate on trails that are barely rideable after torrential rains the night before the race. Stage 6 was canceled and many riders were just in it to survive.

Why let riders destroy the trail? Where I live, if you are seen riding anything like this, there will be an angry mob waiting at the end of the trail for you. There would especially be NO chance of holding a race in something like this.

Its a world level race. You cant just move it.
I would also say that most events like this are held on private land and not on a public trail system that has to handle tons of MTB traffic from the public every day. You can tell that a bunch of these trails were just cut in and trimmed out just for this event. You'd be surprised how well these trails heal up after everyone goes home and they hardly get ridden the rest of the year.
I'm guessing you live in SEQ? The people that police those trails are a bunch of idiots! If they built them properly to start with there would be no issues. In NZ they have massive winter prep trail building. As it's wet as hell here and trails get quite wet and boggy.
Also how are people supposed to improve their skills if they can't practice wet conditions.
I'm talking about NW Arkansas. They're professionally built for the most part, but even the trails that drain particularly well aren't exactly wet weather ready.
