How things have changed in the USA, my old teenaged self would have said I really hoped this wouldn’t happened here, but I can’t say I’m not surprised, we have let cruelty live here too long and now it’s taken over, and we are gonna have to fight hard to get the sunlight and good back. And this time make damn sure we don’t rinse and repeat this cruelty and hate in another 30 years.
It was folk singers like yourself that helped us get through the darkest days of the 1960s. We need your voice now more than ever brother!

I really prayed this wouldn't happen here, but I had a feeling all the way back in the late 90s. I'm a 56-year-old, retired elementary teacher who dedicated her life to her students. I taught the Holocaust (as much as reasonably possible to 11-year-olds) every year, and we spoke of this exact history-repeating event happening. Not one of my students agreed with the Nazis. Now, some are MAGA themselves (and who have parents that were migrants or they themselves were migrants). Propaganda is never-ending in the South. It's literally everywhere. From Tv and radio to doctors' offices, hospitals, grocery stores, schools, colleges, restaurants, government buildings, local news, national news....it. just. never. ends. So I do understand how so many are stuck in the cult. I don't know how to rescue them. I lost many teacher friends who started out teaching as compassionate, caring, and ethical men and women, and now? They voted for Trump every time. They became MAGA, who make excuses for pedophiles, but tell me they couldn't possibly vote for abortion. Like, WHAT? If you want to leave MAGA and are afraid, there is help. So many are leaving. Leavingmaga.org is a start to getting out. It's all of us, MAGA and nonmaga alike, against the billionaire class. You must wake up and see that, because if you don't, America will be gone.
