Have you ever been to Derbyshire, or would you like to go? Let me know in the comments! And don't forget to download the free Christmas Commonplace Book: www.mirandajanemills.com/christmascommonplacebook
Hi Miranda! I’ve been to England many many times, but I don’t believe that I’ve ever visited Derbyshire, although I have, like you, visited the Bronte Parsonage. Your lovely Regency packet of tissues reminded me that I saw advertised Jane Austen Band-Aids, or as you call them, plasters. I will try to find the link for you. Also, just to let you know, I ordered the January issue of The Simple Things. Apparently, it comes out tomorrow, (the 18th) but considering that I live in the states, I don’t know how long it will take for it to get to me. 😊… hello again- I went to the site and apparently they’re discontinued. 🥲
Hold up, hitting pause..I need a comfy chair, fresh mug of Java..toss in a sweet holiday cookie and it's go time. YAHOO..I'm excited Merry Christmas everyone..Love life 😊
There is nothing wrong with taking lovely things with you wherever you go. My daughter and I have always done so. Tea service and sterling to college etc😂. Have a wonderful holiday all!
Seeing you and your mom at various places having lunch brings back lovely memories for me. My mom and I used to love going out to lunch after shopping. She passed away 11 years ago and I still miss our "lunch dates" but so happy to have all those special memories.
What I love most about is a beautiful warm loving relationship you two share. it is truly heart warming. Makes me ponder about my own family relationships...May God bless you both xxx
What a wonderful vlog. My mom and I read a book back in the 80s called Living a Beautiful Life, and it inspired us to travel with things to “decorate” with. It makes the room so cozy! I wish Donna would start her own channel :) Booktube needs more of us ladies of a certain age ❤️
Thanks for the support! Yes, it's lovely to bring a few things to make a 'home away from home' cosier. As I've replied to you before, my Mum really doesn't want to start her own RUclips channel, so I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with me still 😉 (though at approaching 40, I feel BookTube also needs women like me representing, although I personally feel age doesn't matter and would happily watch someone of any age who had interesting things to say). Enjoy the holidays! ❤️
I had to laugh Miranda , when your mum said she wasn’t going to buy from Emma bridgewater . Hilarious 😂. I so enjoyed your adventure together , such a wonderful break and so well deserved .
I came over to the UK from the states for the coronation in May. Prior to renting a narrow boat we visited Stoke on Trent. My husband and I ate lunch at the Emma Bridgewater cafe. The food was delicious. I bought a coronation plate end large mug. Wish I had gotten a couple of mugs for me but wasn’t sure I would have time room to pack them. I love seeing the interaction between you and your mom. Enjoying this post.
Thank you for showing Chatsworth House and stunning ceiling. We drove past 42 years ago the summer of Royal Wedding. I asked to stop, he pleaded time constraints; never been there now. Thanks for bringing it to us who can no longer drive there
Oh thank you so much for bringing us along! I’ve always wanted to visit England and hopefully one day I will. Until then, your lovely vlogs are a slice of Heaven! Thank you!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Little Women...one of my favourites!. I have re-read this every year since I was twelve (I'm 70 years young) and never grow tired of it. Little Men and Jo's Boys also wonderful 🤩🤩
Miranda, Thanks for sharing your trip with your mum with us! What a lovely place you stayed at-- those were really steep stairs, glad you were watching out for Donna. So many beautiful gifts you got at Emma's. I really liked the turtle dove caddy, beautiful! All of the mugs and place wear were wonderful as well. Wishing you both a Happy Holiday.
Oh, what a treat! I loved this vlog so very much! Thank you, dear Miranda and Donna, for taking us along and for showing us so many lovely things. Thank you for everything, the Seasons of Story December issue is also a real treasure!!! Have a lovely week❤
Thank you both so much for sharing your wonderful trip and your beautiful pottery (and other goodies) finds! Your videos are always so enjoyable, but the ones featuring your travels are extra special.
What a lovely trip to Derbyshire and thank you for taking your viewers along! The Landmark Trust property is charming but I couldn't cope with those stairs! The interior of Chatsworth is gorgeous, the ceilings are amazing! The Burleigh cow creamer is delightful, as are the other pieces. What a treat to visit the Emma Bridgewater shop and discounted lines shop too. The turtle dove tin is charming. It may interest Donna to know that Poole Pottery are still in Poole, there is a studio and retail outlet in a new building on the site of the original pottery. I'm looking forward to the bookshop visit. Thanks again.
Miranda, you have the most beautiful videos! I wish I could go to England one day. I love seeing all of the beautiful places that you visit. I have never had Marzipan, but it sounds good. Thanks for sharing all of the beautiful things you bought and all of the pretty scenery. I look forward to your next video! ☺💕
Hello Miranda 😊 I absolutely love your videos they are so heartwarming and cosy I love the special bond you and mum have I'm always laughing along with yous. So glad your having a lovely time and can't wait for the bookshop video 😊 keep up the great work and merry Christmas to you and your mum 🦌❤
So lovely to have you and your Mum together in this episode. Chatsworth looks beautiful and very festive but I was particularly jealous of your trip to Burleigh and Emma Bridgewater. What a fabulous haul. Looking forward to your further adventures visiting a local bookshop. ❤
Lovely video! I really enjoyed seeing the Emma Bridgewater shop. I just started watching your videos recently, and right away became a bit obsessed with all your beautiful mugs... it was my mum who caught the name Emma Bridgewater when you mentioned it. We ordered from their Christmas sale and I was happy about how quickly they were shipped to us here in Canada. I just had an inaugural hot chocolate in my new mug today!
Oh ladies, what a lovely time you’ve had! I’m especially pleased to see all of the pottery, and the beautiful pieces you chose. Thanks so much for taking us along❤
Thanks Miranda! You are such a giving person! What a treat to be invited along with you and your mum on your trip to Chatsworth and Emma Bridgewater…even showing us the cottage where you were staying! Since I am older and can no longer travel to England, I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy your recordings! I’m looking forward to Part 2. I am saving Seasons of Story and the recent Commonplace Book for a special time before Christmas. Wishing you and Donna the best December ever!
Thank you so much for your lovely support and comment, Carol! I so appreciate both, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope you enjoy reading The Christmas Commonplace Book and the December Seasons of Story later on ❤️
Those stairs are frightening ! Thank you for taking us along with you. I loved all your purchases, such a charming place. You both look so pretty, love the red lipstick ! Stay Happy, and Healthy, Cindy🫖🌻
What a lovely video. You can use the teapot for Valentine's Day. The mug with the snowy owl is a must get for me. Thank you for taking me along this trip.
I ood and ahhhd my way through your video, what a treat to watch. I might have to watch again to get the full benefit😊 but will not look at the very steep stairs. Thank you for this video. Look forward for more.
A brilliant presentation. Thank you for sharing your world with us. Mum's hair looks lovely. You and I seem to share the same taste in wardrobe, Miranda. Oh, the blessing of living in the UK and those wonderful shops, old fashioned shops, lovely ...
I completely understand you bringing little festive items along with for the stay. I live in Switzerland and when I stay in holiday flats near Christmas, I always bring along little decorations just to make it a little more Christmasy and enjoy the holiday spirit!
Thank you so much for taking us to Derbyshire. I Always wanted to go Stoke on Trent so seeing those gorgeous pottery shops with Donna and you was a real treat! Merci beaucoup.🙏🏻✨✨
Thank you Miranda for taking us with you. Thank you for you beautiful voice. So calming. You're a gift. Christmas Blessings, Wellness & Love to you, Mum and all of your family
Oh, to see YORK & YORKSHIRE environs. (Yes. I know we are going to Chatsworth House/Estate- I meant the whole trip/experience.) Don't know if I'll ever get there (& London, natch), but if not, thanks to you, your channel, YT, etc., I can pretend I am in the car w you and your Mum. But would be crying the whole time. Yep. Being so thrilled to actually be there, in the flesh.😢❤
Beautiful vlog, Miranda! I love that you took flowers and pretty, festive touches with you. You both are looking stunning and sound much better as well. Love the owl mug 🦉and the sweet holly broach🎄!
Thank you for taking us along with you on your travels. So glad you both had a wonderful time, you certainly needed it after those nasty sickness’s you had. Some time to recoup before Xmas. Many thanks for your continued wonderful content. I look forward to it all! 😊
I’m catching up with your videos after a busy christmas time, I so enjoyed this one. I’m a huge Emma Bridgewater and Burleigh fan and would love to visit them, it was a real treat to see inside! My favourite of all your beautiful buys were the candlestick and the cow creamer (which instantly brought P G Wodehouse’s Uncle Tom to mind!). What a lovely and unique little cottage to stay in too.
Thank you for taking us along on your travels. I love that you brought things from home for where you're staying. A very merry Christmas to you and your mother. Thanks for all the videos.
So lovely to join you on your adventures - I havent been to Derbyshire yet and also been wanting to get to the Emma Bridgewater shop/HQ - I think I wouldve needed a lie down after seeing all the pottery wares LOLZ🙂 Talking of pottery, I remember reading this lovely fiction book some years ago, based around J.Wedgewood : The Potter's Hand by Wilson, A. N (the HB edition has a nice cover :). Would like to visit the V&A Wedgewood museum too in Stoke on Trent as well as doing a Landmark Trust Property tour around the UK!. PS: I love that you took plants and tablecloth with you....if i was travelling around by car, I would definately would too!! I always take a pillowcase/aromatherapy room spray and some small nick nacks when I travel but im always travellingn via tube/train so cant be too heavy. x
An especially beautiful vlog Miranda and Donna. Derbyshire is an incredibly beautiful area of the UK .. when you revisit Chatsworth also visit Haddon Hall - a stunning house - not grand and ostentatious like Chatsworth but subtle in its beauty. It’s been used as a filming location for many period movies and tv shows .. i think you would both like it a lot. Most notably a lot of the Ruth Wilson version of Jane Eyre was filmed there. I was fortunate enough to visit the Emma Bridgewater factory last year and loved it also .. I stopped for a coffee and lemon cake in the cafe - in fact the table I sat at was in shot behind you Miranda 😊 Looking forward to the next vlog of your beautiful week away! As always, thank you for sharing with us.
Lovely mugs, plates ,milk creamer, tea towels ,to say nothing of the holly brooch ,all in all, lovely shopping and lovely ladies ! Thank you and have a very Merry Christmas !❤🤝
Hello Miranda, I visited Chatsworth one summer and my lasting memory is of the stunning Rafaelle Monti sculpture of the Veiled Vestal - as well as the bust of Mr Darcy in the gift shop with a sign asking visitors not to kiss him! I’d love to visit again and see it at Christmas. Thank you for sharing your travels.
Thank you so much for taking us along! I completely share your enthusiasm when it comes to visiting places like these and doing this type of shopping. Looking forward to part 2!...
I always adore the scenic country side footage. Thank you for including it! As your camera was panning the Emma Bridgewater shop, I thought, hmm. I wonder what will catch Miranda's eye, and I wagered on that snowy owl mug! It's so sweet. 🦉🦉
I often take table linen with me when travelling - usually just napkins and placemats which aren't as bulky as a table cloth. It really personalised meal times away.
Words fail, but this has been amazing, Miranda. Thank you so much for taking us along. I loved everything!! I’m a lover of Christmas brooches too, and Donna’s is beautiful. The display of them would have held me captive for hours. I also love that you travelled with some touches of home. Those stairs would have done me in though😂.
Your Christmas Commonplace Book is such a delight!! Thank you for so generously creating and sharing it. Wishing you and your mother a most joyous Christmas filled with the peace of the Christ Child.
I would not want to attempt those cottage stairs in the middle of the night - one misstep and you're a goner, yikes! Scary stairs aside, what a wonderful vlog as always, Miranda ❤
I know this part of Derbyshire very well from many trips in childhood and adolescence, a very special area, as a child was so excited to be amidst the setting of A traveller in time
Really enjoying this video! I really love the rain, and prefer to travel on rainy days. 😀 I wanted to give you a tip: I wear a brooch almost every day, and have lost a couple favorites, sadly. What I do now is slip on one of those rubbery pierced earring backs to the pin after attaching it to my top, before securing the clasp. So if the clasp comes undone, your brooch should remain attached to your clothing.
Hello Miranda and Donna! Such a treat to travel with you and be a part of your time away! Love your shopping purchases, I really do like Emma Bridgewater and have a few pieces myself! It is such a joy listening to you, I feel as though I am in the room as well! Wishing you both a very Merry Christmas and look forward to next time! You both look lovely! 🇨🇦🥰
Your Mum looks beautiful and I love her hair. What a lovely cottage you have chosen to stay in. We live in Staffordshire but we visit Chatsworth every year at Christmas and visit their Christmas market. We also visit in the summer and visit local villages.
Thank you Miranda and Donna! This was wonderful; I was at Chatsworth this past September so it was so nice to see it decorated for Christmas! As if that wasn't enough, you also went to Emma Bridgewater--had I known we were so close I would have insisted we make the stop there as well. Happy Holidays to you both!
I was born in Derbyshire although I now live in Dorset and I remember we used to visit Chatsworth House for our School trip , always exciting to see the famous fountain in the gardens
Just wanted to say my 13 year old daughter’s Christmas present is a cat named Mr. Bingley since you mention Pride and Prejudice. ❤ Merry Christmas to you and your sweet mother.🎄
What exciting adventures you have had! I am inspired to rewatch Pride and Prejudice now for the umpteenth time ❤. I would love to visit both pottery shops one day. I do love seeing what you come away with and the Anthon Berg marzipan plum chocolates are my favourite!
Watching this lovely, cosy and joyful video ( and all your others) feels like unwrapping Christmas presents ....🎁🎄🎁 One of my childhood memories of my late Grandmother has been using a special pottery.....which I have never seen since again. But today I found out it is BURLEIGH PHEASANT pale blue 🩵 ( I have no idea where my Grandmother got it here in Germany in the 70ies 🤔) Thank you so much for those charming trips alongside Donna and you ( both looking so pretty). Can't wait to see and hear about the bookshop visit 📚📚📚 Have a very, merry Christmas 🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. The Landmark Trust cottage looked perfect. I have been to the EB factory a few times, and some of the bargains are amazing! But just the experience of being there is so very special. X
Thank you so much, Penny, for your very kind and generous support! I'm so grateful ❤️ Really glad you enjoyed this video, and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! xxx
Thank you so, so much for taking us on holiday with you! I felt every minute of your enthusiasm and excitement! Love the teapot, the cottage, oh, everything❤ Can’t wait to come book-shopping with you. What a marvellous treat this has been. Much love. Xx
We have the same interests! I flew from Vancouver Island to England in October, all by myself. I went to Chatsworth (and Haddon Hall), and all the potteries in Stoke on Trent! It was a real gift to see you doing some of the same. Makes me want to go back, which I will do next autumn, this time with my husband. I am partway through the stack of books you recommended for winter reading. Thanks so much for these wonderful videos. I'm very grateful.
Thank you for your lovely comment, Linda! So glad you enjoyed this video and that it brought back memories of your own travels. Enjoy planning your autumn trip! xxx
Thank you for this lovely vlog! A wonderful book about Chatsworth is “Schooldays at Chatsworth” by Nancie Park. It tells of the 2nd World War years when Penrhos College was evacuated to Chatsworth. 250 girls and 50 staff lived there from 1939 to 1946. Nancie was eleven when she started there. Heartwarming and humorous, it’s a book to read again and again. I bought my copy at the Chatsworth gift shop. ❤️
What a beautiful video, I loved you visiting my favourite pottery factory, which is Emma Bridgewater. You must make sure you visit Chatsworth in the Spring or Summer. Their grounds are truly spectacular. Cannot wait for part 2 with book shopping ❤
Such a great vlog, Miranda! Perfect to cosy up on the sofa with a cup of tea and some christmasy cookies and watch. The trip to Emma Bridgewater made me drool as I also love her stuff. Merry Christmas to you and Donna! 🎄❤️
How fun! Thank you for sharing 😊 Those stairs were crazy.....i am glad Donna had you there! Everything was gorgeous and festive. The shopping was so exciting, my heart was racing. Enjoyed watching this part of your trip and looking forward to the conclusion. Thanks again for taking us along ❤
Oh I’ve been eagerly waiting for this video. I really wanted to know what your thoughts on Derbyshire were- I’m very biased I know as it’s where I’m born, bred and still live- but I think we have a beautiful county. I highly recommend coming back in another season to Chatsworth as the gardens are glorious and they often have huge art installations that are quite something to be seen. Funnily enough I’ve been up to the farmshop today as my mum and brother like to meet up with us for a lovely meal in their cafe and then buy some nice bits and bobs for Christmas in the shop. I do look forward to it. Oh I could go on and on enthusing, but I’ll just say I’m so glad you visited with your mum and enjoyed it despite some dismal weather xxx

Thank you so much for taking us along! I completely share your enthusiasm when it comes to visiting places like these and doing this type of shopping. Looking forward to part 2!...
Loved your Emma Bridgwater purchases love all her items. I’ve always wanted to visit Chatsworth one day, thank yo7 for sharing. 😊
Lovely vlog...thank you both for sharing with us! Merry Christmas from Vancouver Island, Canada!❤
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄 ❤️
I always adore the scenic country side footage. Thank you for including it! As your camera was panning the Emma Bridgewater shop, I thought, hmm. I wonder what will catch Miranda's eye, and I wagered on that snowy owl mug! It's so sweet. 🦉🦉
Thank you so much as always for your very kind support, Pamela! I so appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The owl mug is so sweet! xxx
This was so much fun to watch and be on the adventure with you and your lovely mom.
Those stairs ! 😮
Happy holidays Miranda & Dona.
I often take table linen with me when travelling - usually just napkins and placemats which aren't as bulky as a table cloth. It really personalised meal times away.
Thank you for sharing, Miranda! This is one of my favourite vlogs!
So glad you enjoyed it, Sandy! Thank you very much ❤️
Your Christmas Commonplace Book is such a delight!!
Oh lovely
Hello ! Thank you for this lovely video I loved it so much and I can’t wait to see the next one ❤
I know this part of Derbyshire very well from many trips in childhood and adolescence, a very special area, as a child was so excited to be amidst the setting of A traveller in time
What a lovely Vlog and thank you for taking us along, wonderful finds. Sending Merry Christmas wishes to you and your Mom.
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas! 🎄 ❤️
Really enjoying this video! I really love the rain, and prefer to travel on rainy days. 😀
I wanted to give you a tip: I wear a brooch almost every day, and have lost a couple favorites, sadly.
Thank you, Elizabeth! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
Lovely and beautiful video. Enjoyed it very much ❤️ Merry Christmas to you, Donna & Miranda 🌟
Thank you! You too!
Your Mum looks beautiful and I love her hair. What a lovely cottage you have chosen to stay in. We live in Staffordshire but we visit Chatsworth every year at Christmas and visit their Christmas market. We also visit in the summer and visit local villages.
Absolutely loved this travel vlog of your visit to Derbyshire.Loved see ing your lovely pick up items here.
Thanks & bestwishes to both of you
💐🌻🌟
Loved watching this. Now I really want to go and visit those potteries. Thanks for another gorgeous video x
This video was a delight! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Delightful video🌺
Love your tins
You made my day with your trip to Derbyshire! Sending warm wishes to you and your sweet mother for a very Merry Christmas🎄👏
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too 🎄
I was born in Derbyshire although I now live in Dorset and I remember we used to visit Chatsworth House for our School trip , always exciting to see the famous fountain in the gardens
I loved the beautiful display of brooches! I had to go back in the video several times just to see them again.
They were incredible! There were loads more too, but it was crowded it was hard to film.
Just wanted to say my 13 year old daughter’s Christmas present is a cat named Mr. Bingley since you mention Pride and Prejudice. ❤ Merry Christmas to you and your sweet mother.🎄
What a sweet gift! I’m sure your daughter will always remember this Christmas! Love the name 😄
Miranda Thanks Much!
What exciting adventures you have had! I am inspired to rewatch Pride and Prejudice now for the umpteenth time ❤. I would love to visit both pottery shops one day. I do love seeing what you come away with and the Anthon Berg marzipan plum chocolates are my favourite!
We want to rewatch the P&P film now too! Definitely part of our Christmas holiday plans ❤️
Watching this lovely, cosy and joyful video ( and all your others) feels like unwrapping Christmas presents ....🎁🎄🎁
One of my childhood memories of my late Grandmother has been using a special pottery.....which I have never seen since again. But today I found out it is BURLEIGH PHEASANT pale blue 🩵 ( I have no idea where my Grandmother got it here in Germany in the 70ies 🤔)
Thank you so much for those charming trips alongside Donna and you ( both looking so pretty).
Can't wait to see and hear about the bookshop visit 📚📚📚
Have a very, merry Christmas 🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟🎄🌟
Thank you for taking us along on your trip. The Landmark Trust cottage looked perfect. I have been to the EB factory a few times, and some of the bargains are amazing! But just the experience of being there is so very special. X
Thank you so much, Penny, for your very kind and generous support! I'm so grateful ❤️ Really glad you enjoyed this video, and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! xxx
What a wonderful adventure! I'm so glad you both had such wonderful experiences! What a joy! :)
Those stairs, though...! I've never seen the like!
Thank you so, so much for taking us on holiday with you! I felt every minute of your enthusiasm and excitement! Love the teapot, the cottage, oh, everything❤ Can’t wait to come book-shopping with you. What a marvellous treat this has been. Much love. Xx
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your kind words! ❤️
Loved this.❤
What a beautiful video, I loved you visiting my favourite pottery factory, which is Emma Bridgewater.
We would definitely love to return! Such a beautiful part of the world ❤️
Thank you for the beautiful tour! You both look very relaxed. I looking forward to the next vlog!
