    I work in IT Security. EVERYTHING in this TED talk is terrifying if you understand the the vulnerabilities this introduces into everything you connect to the internet. My house has NONE of this stuff.

    Is there someone like me who gets really so much excited by watching videos like this on our growing technology and what it will be like in just most recent 5 years or less and they get so much excited for all this growing technology and want it to grow more faster day by day? 😍
    And also when u know that it's already a reality what is he talking about then it makes u more excited that it's not just an idea like full immersion virtual reality but it's already a reality and emerging right now 😍😍😍

    As an IT professional .... the "Internet of Things" is a security disaster waiting to happen.
    But judging from talks like this it'll probably have to hurt for real before people get it.
    "And you don't have to be an expert to use it" ....
    ... yeah... since we have absolutely no problems with non-experts creating security issues on the Internet.

    • @pm71241
      @pm71241 8 лет назад +5

      *****
      ... which of course will be easy, when the company who made those tim tams go broke and they didn't even know where the firmware came from because it was in a component they got from a Chinese subcontractor which is also broke and gone.

      As an IT professional... why do people do that? just say what's on your mind. The disaster is no different than a computer transacting on the internet without HTTPS. in time these problems do get solved we still in the beginning stages of it.

    • @pm71241
      @pm71241 7 лет назад +4

      ... if you think that, then you haven't understood the problem (or what HTTPS actually is). You cannot just sprinkle acronyms and then suddenly it's "secure".
      The first and foremost problem with these devices is that nobody cares about how they are made or how they get security fixes (which they don't). The only way a malicious device out there will get 'fixed" in most cases is the normal product cycle when it break and is thrown out in 4-8 years. That's plenty of room for getting abused for all kinds of nefarious stuff.

    Ah, the buzzwords.
    Well, self-driving cars are slowly coming, some robots are still too expensive and production processes are not yet streamlined enough to replace human workers everywhere and it´s definitively not realistic that my 2d main door camera will identigy me so that I don´t need a key.
    Brave new World will take a little bit longer than that, but especially in war, the big players are working hard to the goal that we are getting there. Whoever builds the cheapest drone that is still effeective will win the next war.
    Meanwhile, factory workers in Shenzen work beside robot arms and billions of people will be laid off in the next decades. Robots are getting cheaper and more effective, it´s a big market.
    Look over your shoulder, everybody. Learn to incorporate AI into your business, save expenses on the human workforce. If you won´t do it, the competitor will do.
    1 certified welder, 3 welding robots and 2 untrained handymen are faster and cheaper than 6 welders. A robot will be a tool like your next power grinder, just with a thicker manual.
    Many workers won´t be able to find a new job
