in freedom they're meant to disappear... most of these beautiful creatures are near extinction therefore passionate people that take time to train these bird gives them a chance to survive the deforestation. Don't call yourself an animal lover if you rather see them disappear in the wild instead of having fun with a bunch of humans. They are not mistreated or abused, they're having fun doing what birds do best, trick learning. It keeps them mentally sane to use their incredible learning capacity

You mean, like they do to the Orcas, keeping them in a pond and fed fish all day for the sake of tourism? I had a white cockatoo for years when I had a pet shop. He was free to move around inside the shop but loved to be among other birds. When I closed shop, I took him to the forests where there were other cockatoos. He heard them and called them back, which they approached us at a close distance. I could see what my bird understood, that he was free to go and join his friends. About an hour later, the poor bird was reluctant to part company but I encouraged him to go if he feels that's where he belong. Otherwise he can stay with me and we return to the city. 2 hours later and with all his friends calling at him, he looked at me and said something I could not understand, and then he gently opened his wings like he had done at the shop each evening before bed (I lived upstairs), he wanted one last hug. I gave it to him and moved away. Then he called the other cockatoos and took off from my arm. He did a few circles above me and I understood that he wanted to be sure I meant it. If I had called him, he would have returned on my arm. Instead I raised my arm and waved goodbye (just like I waved him goodnight each evening before going to bed, and the bird must have understood it meant - goodbye). Then he flew towards where the others flock were. Cockatoos are extremely intelligent birds. I really miss him. His name was Nitilly.
Yeah, I'm gonna ask for a blue and gold macaw, in trade for a white boxer terrior dog. She's a female, doesn't bite, loves to play, and hardly ever barks. But I just can't keep her because, I'm looking for a differnt pet. And a blue and gold macaw seems perfect!!! I don't care what gender.

If he didn't like those birds, he wouldn't have gained so much trust from them and spent the countless hours necessary to bond with and train them. It's just showmanship, acting like it's no big deal for them to do all this :P
