I’m really glad you did the poker hand. A literal poker hand. 🤣 I’m a little over anything resin and colored pencils. Great job condensing what is an incredible amount of work into a digestible video.
ManCraftingTM I saw the poker chips and knew right away what was going to be made.. lol I’ve never done any pencil art before.. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!! 👍👍👊
Ya I was thinking it might be the pressure pot also I have had some success by spraying krylon clearcoat gloss into the alginate age mold first. It does a pretty good job of locking out moisture. Also some sort of release agent on your hand helps Thanks for the vid
those came out awesome! both of em! i liked the hands, (the cards and poker chips settled in perfectly!) the music was excellent. good video. much needed in this crazy time period! hope youre stayin healthy and safe!
You could try not sand blasting but using baking soda blast, it will smooth and take of the smallest of layers to eliminate the dull and bring back the shine of the resin. Try it and let me know what you think
Thank you for this tutorial. I learned a lot from it and can now avoid therefore some big mistakes which I would have made since I am a beginner with resin casting. I also watched Nicks video last week. I have my own hand pouring project in my mind. But why not us an electric pencil sharpener for these projects since you seem to be as pencil creative as Nick? Would have saved you a lot of hand work and time.
If I can just ask a couple questions, what if I just need one cast of the hand, would I still have to do the plaster first? I do resin and I do casting of hands, but never the two together, but I need a more durable hand, then the plaster, so wanted to try the resin. Is this resin different in a huge way...because of the setting time? And how do you not get the air bubbles? I have no pressure pot...Would there be too much moisture in the alginate for resin?
ruclips.net/video/XnzaYnR-dpY/видео.html here’s a video to watch.. there’s way too much moisture to pour straight into alginate.. this is a deep pour for most resins.. I use Alumilite clear slow but you have to use a pressure pot.. other resins or epoxies you will probably have to do multiple pours
I have two questions... Can epoxy resin make this kind of 3D sculpture ( i am not talking about casting resin) 2nd question did u try to add plaster of Paris in the resin?
The better you prepare the plaster, the better the end result will be. This was my first go at this.. if I had it to do again I would for sure take more time preparing the plaster .
I hope you don't mind if I steal this idea and try to make one. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Also I'm using your videos as tutorials since you make it seem so easy and explain every step in detail Be safe and God bless
Great info....Im looking at casting in the UK to make hand guitar holders that go on the wall... Im an ex dental technician so have access to alot of the casting things... I was going to ask you if you have thought of trying a Silicone based impression material... We have one here called Improgum.... This way it would save you having to do the alginate and plaster and then a re imp of the plaster hand in silicone saving you time and money..... Mike UK
After I made this video I found that there are silicones that can go right on skin.. I still show using alginate because it’s fun for people to do with their kids if they just want a plaster mold if their hand.
hola jake, buena ideas , aca en buenos aires en cuarentena y sin materiales para trabajar pero en casa. Hi Jake, good ideas, here in Buenos Aires in quarantine and without materials to work but at home.

@@JakeThompson lol
What if you don't have a pressure pot? Also what kind of resin do you use? Thanks
I used alumilite clear slow on these. you have to have a pressure pot for that resin. you can use some epoxies but you will have to do several pours.
If I can just ask a couple questions, what if I just need one cast of the hand, would I still have to do the plaster first? I do resin and I do casting of hands, but never the two together, but I need a more durable hand, then the plaster, so wanted to try the resin. Hey Jake I have a question. How many boxes of the mold star 16 did you use? I am trying to mold a bust.
Jackson Taylor I bought one of the big sets of it.. it comes out cheaper to buy it in the bigger amount.. I’m not sure exactly how much I used!!
Very entertaining video! Love how the hands came out. Very creative with the chips and cards! Where do I get funny noises gloves? 😂
Turnings by Turner Those gloves are very special!! 😂😂 I’m glad you liked the video!! 👍👍👊
I have two questions... Can epoxy resin make this kind of 3D sculpture ( i am not talking about casting resin)
2nd question did u try to add plaster of Paris in the resin?
Meh Gulzar Epoxy resin will work if it can do deeper pours.. and I did not use plaster of Paris in the resin
If you clearcoat the plaster first b4 casting a silicone mold will it come out glossy??
The better you prepare the plaster, the better the end result will be. This was my first go at this.. if I had it to do again I would for sure take more time preparing the plaster .
@@JakeThompson Thanks for answering my question 😊😊
Hi, great job! What spray are you using on the end to bring the shine to it?
It was just spray lacquer, Thank you. 👍👍
can i use my mold for a lost wax casting? I plan on making a bronze hand.
I haven’t done any wax casting.. I would do a small test piece!!
I hope you don't mind if I steal this idea and try to make one. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Also I'm using your videos as tutorials since you make it seem so easy and explain every step in detail

Way to take a gamble on a project and color outside the lines. Hopefully it will reward you handsomely.
55chevy327 It was tons of fun to make.. That’s reward enough.. 👍👍💪
hola jake, buena ideas , aca en buenos aires en cuarentena y sin materiales para trabajar pero en casa.
Hi Jake, good ideas, here in Buenos Aires in quarantine and without materials to work but at home.
Art CNR Claudio Rodriguez Awesome.. the quarantine can make us more creative!! I’m happy you liked it! 👍👍💪
It seemed to find the video of your silicone mold. I did My grand children's hands recently is that all I do the same way I would like to watch your other video if someone can point me in the right direction send me a link thank you
ruclips.net/video/Z62s30k3FlQ/видео.html This is the video where I make the silicone mold.
Very nice Jake, a little freaky, but nice👍
Steve Combs just a little freaky!!! Lol Thats just the right amount!😂😂
