Yungblud is an interesting artist. Saw him at Warped Tour in Nashville in 2018. He was out working the crowd in the lines waiting to get in. Just a genuinely crazy and chill dude.
Yungblud, Halsey and MGK all leading a resurgence for some mainstream rock/alt/punk at the moment I feel. Said it last year and again they're all releasing music at around the same time now.
Loved it yungblud is fresh blood to the music scene ! Was going to mention the like a version session. Also did you know when both he & Halsey were here & the Falls festival was cancelled due to the bushfires, they quickly organised a venue in Melbourne and put on a performance anyway donating money raised to the bush fires. FYI there was a tweet between Palaye & Maneskin suggesting they do a song together - totally down for that - and palaye are about to drop another song very soon - just thought I’d mention it since you guys mentioned them 😜🤘🏼
I totally love the song. From what I have seen people talking about online, the solo is by Dave Navarro. The very first time I heard this song, all I heard was Nirvana, Nirvana, Nirvana. Smells Like Teen Spirit + Heart-Shaped Box. Then again, I also don't know Teenage Dirtbag, so there is that. 🖤🖤🖤

You should check out some of his really early stuff. He did a few performances at the Viper Room- it was one of his first real outings to the US I think. He's playing guitar in those- also he plays in all his acoustic performances, he also plays piano. Most of the big guitar stuff is played by one of his co-writers Chris Greatti or his guitarist Adam Warrington (who is excellent). Yungblud says he's not that great at the guitar- he's always seemed pretty good when he plays acoustic to me- but he is left handed and plays guitar right handed so maybe that's why he doesn't feel super good idk. You're right about his role in music though. He's really popular now but he had to pretty much forge his own path, when he started out noone really wanted to work with him because he was a bit too androgynous and political, so he build up a grassroots following playing show after show around Europe, but he got pretty much no radio play. Then one day he did something for radio 1 and a big crowd of fans turned up and the station sort of sat up and took notice. This started a trend of he would do something and crowds would turn up- a last minute appeal for people to be in one of his early music videos was almost declared a riot in London so many people turned up. But he built a culture vs just a fan following. Now he's playing mainstage at festivals, he's on the radio a lot, he's become the artist labels kind of want to emulate. He's really been at the foreground of the return of rock influenced music I think- especially as a solo act. Always enjoy your Yungblud reactions.
