Very smart design with freewheels. The motor can power the rear wheel without rotating the pedals and you can pedal without the motor spinning. Brilliant!
This video is everything I love about Engineering, teaching, and time outdoors all wrapped into one. Seriously good shit! Way to work with what you have on hand. I think you've inspired me to pop my rarely used hoverboard open. Cheers, mate!
From this to engineering is a long way. However the idea is sound. The execution of the project must be revised. Too many parts are assembled by the eye. The use of a tandem bicycle crank and a well centered sprocket on the motor casing would solve the issues. Also a battery upgrade would help.
You made it look easy and you never made a comment about lining up the two chain sprockets which is a must and yours just happened to be perfectly aligned amazing and I love the fact that you did not use four 12 volt batteries
Very wise , infact i was trying to make a free wheel sprocket but in vain. After watching this video it's look so simple and will just do the same thing. Thank this video is of great importance and very helpful.
He did well... Only concern if too much torque is applied to such a crank and it internally snaps or falters at speed or under heavy torsion... A locknut mechanism could be attached somehow?
I built an ebike too but this is sooooooo much better. Well done my friend. I was confused at first by what you were doing by the end it all made sense.
Great job with a minimum on tools and it works. Super that you use old parts to make something new. I hope that we can see more selfmade jobs from your hands.
Cool build, I've never seen somebody make a freewheel crank before. I think it's easier connecting the motor with chain to a new chain sprocket on the back wheel hub(which already has a freewheel). Cheers!
yes but some of those wheel-mounted sprockets mount via rubber clamps on the spokes - also keeping the motor in the driveline constantly. From what I can see, looks like his means you're not fighting the motor when pedaling and removes unbalanced stress from the spokes. It's actually a pretty smart method. Setups like that for those 2 stroke petrol (gas) motors are pretty expensive and this is the first time I've seen someone create one for an electric motor. If my bike crank was a 3-piece instead of 1 piece, I'd be trying my hand at this - for now I'll save it in case I get a chance to in the future. Hell, if I hadn't just given my unfinished tadpole recumbent trike away I could have built one for that

Nice welding. I just started welding whit stick in my garage to get my bike ready. Took 1 pack of sticks and then I got it. Now bike is ready for winter :)
You are a genious mecanic! No centering tools, just your two hands and your brain, and slippers :-) impressive! @ All: did you see how the batterie was made: a bunch of Li-eon rechargables, put serial and parallel. Just like in a Tesla... no joke.
Im doing this with my bike :-) half way through just need to order a few parts to carry on I need new bottom bracket as mine isnt long enough to accept the freewheeling crankset but ill get there......excellent video mate no doubt this will help a lot of people
Can you please explain to me what just took place there I always thought that I want to have provisions to just utilizeI always wanted to try and work both peddling and the help of an engine electrical gas without removing my pedaling crank system like have some type of free wheel instead of a klutz to the motor side I what I wanted to do was to not be able to get stuck

making a freewheel crank so you arent forced to pedal is actually so damn genius
perfect, exactly what i was looking for! i was wondering how to best make the pedals stop spinning and your solution is both cheap and elegant!
This video is everything I love about Engineering, teaching, and time outdoors all wrapped into one.

The freewheel crank is just what I needed! That's so clever!

You are recycling which is good and you are saving the environment.
Thank you for sharing this video.
just can't afford midrive system. but thanks bro.

Yes very good
@@albertnario4877 sir if i use 250 watt moter , how much speed i get ?? Please reply sir
depends on road, and gearing. my experience can you reach 35kph up on flat road
An example of real creativity, good job!
Amazing ingenuity with so little equipment you have made something amazing. A great testament to your skills and inventiveness
I'm very impressed at the part you made freewheel crank.
Kinda what I was looking for.
Spot welder all ya need...
A grinder and paint make you the welder you ain't!
All joking aside, nicely done. Your video showed all the essentials and didn't waste time.
You did one heck of a good job 👏
Excellent engineering skills & mechanical application.
I built an ebike too but this is sooooooo much better. Well done my friend. I was confused at first by what you were doing by the end it all made sense.

But in that case you cannot use the back gears 😅
More strength and torque available in the front...crank area..
This might just be my next project with my everlast welder. Great idea!
Привет
Better than showing people how to hack into peoples gadgets. You inspire young people.
very nice way of keeping the drive line simple and still allowing the pedals to idle when just using the motor. Nice work

You are an amazing engineer my good friend. Have a great day.
You are a genious mecanic! No centering tools, just your two hands and your brain, and slippers :-)
impressive! @ All: did you see how the batterie was made: a bunch of Li-eon rechargables, put serial and parallel. Just like in a Tesla... no joke.
This is why every man needs a large shed/workshop or a garage :)
Man you work with metal as if its paper. Those are some good skills.
Nice..how long does it last
Dude! You are awesome! These are practical applications form a toy! YHWH bless you in everything you do!
this guy is the only legit diy guy, keep up the good work!
You made this with stuff you had . Proof you don’t need to go and buy everything new and just bolt it on.
Im doing this with my bike :-) half way through just need to order a few parts to carry on I need new bottom bracket as mine isnt long enough to accept the freewheeling crankset but ill get there......excellent video mate no doubt this will help a lot of people
I love it when you do those modifications on a low budget. Congratulations
The construction with the chains is very well thought out ;)
Amazing ...I like the simple parts your creating. like not just buying new parts.
Good work buddy , really appreciable job.

nice, i would change the coupling to triangle and make a friction bike ;)
Its good invention but it's slowly not so fast but awsome thing how you did it good.
it can reach 40kph, im not good in gear shifting. 🙂
