Get yourself a cup of coffee, start your metronome and see how accurate the playing is. Mind blowingly flawless!
Damn!! Polyrhythms X 1000!! Insane!! Once he got started I couldn’t hear the metronome anymore. I appreciate the mad drumming skills and the polyrhythms but would like more of a solo with intermittent polyrhythms to embellish the solo. Amazing timing and talent!! Wow!! Thanks!!

It amazes me how all 3 of AAL member are so world-class level.. i know most bands have all highly skilled musicians but i feel like this is a different level. I think all 3 of them can have an album of their own and id listen
It sounds ridiculous to a lot of drummers but most dont know how difficult it is to not rush during huge and long fills. With this kind of time awareness it's out of this world
Yes to all the notes per minute changes. Bravo to the overall variety in his playing. Matt Gartska would be in a dictionary picture for the word Versatile
I’m calling it now, Matt garstka signature meinl hi hats coming soon. Seeing those r and d hats he’s been playing for a while now, same thing he did with his Fat stack and equilibrium China with the r and d stamp with slight different variations. It’s crazy that my favorite drummer also has helped make my two favorite cymbals ever which are the fat stack and equilibrium china and I’ve never truely found the perfect exact pair of sticks I’ve always been searching for till garstka came out with his Vic Firth signature sticks recently and they are also my favorite sticks hands down. So if he comes out with signature hats I’m definitly copping those too. These sound like Benny greb sand hats but more low end and bark and volume.
Everytime he does those " changes " (I don't know drumming-vocabulary sorry) where he slows his playing, it's like time is falling and stopping, I feel hollow, that's so weird but so nice to listen to.
Although most of this(the quintuplets, septuplets, nontuplets, 5/4) could have been played to a 70 bpm click, I in fact played/recorded it to 35 BPM which is much more challenging. And when I go back & forth between 4/4 and 11 - that could not be played to a 70 bpm click and neither could the triplets in 7(21). The skill of playing to a metronome that only hits the one is only the start of it. The real challenge is to be able to seamlessly navigate back and forth between these and do so musically.
