Unless it can get nearly 200 mpg it's inefficient. Gasoline fumes are the only thing that burns not the liquid.
Current gasoline is composed of multiple fuels.

Rule out hydrogen and concentrate on hybrid electric and don't be afraid of diesel or gas Motors just make them more efficient

I think that given the improvements in electric engines over the last few years it makes more sense to have the combustion engine run the Electric System then to try and drive more torque and power out of it early hybrids had it backwards

I had a Mazda RX7 with 90K trouble free miles. only changed a clutch and water pump. Great handling and power. Love it. Wished I never sold it.
