Contact the organizations, since you are now somewhat known face they might sort you out with a media pass/ticket of sorts
Often there will be tickets available day before, or game day, because ticket seller will keep certain amount of tickets reserved for visiting team fans. And they release those on sale quite late. Just keep on clicking refresh. ;)

Tickets were sold out in 20 mins from the start of sale 12 am.
Also tickets for the World Junior Championship are available. The tournament started today and it's played in the Helsinki metropolitan area: "2024 IIHF U18 World Championship : Finland, Espoo and Vantaa".

It's a little funny to display Saves instead of Shots on Goal on the scoreboard. Although of course, Saves (plus any goals allowed) does convey the exact same information as SOG except in reverse.
@@zatramander I guess it is a slight cultural difference. I think saves statistic tells more about goal tending.
@@zatramander To be fair this equation of Saves+Goals=Shots on Goal is kinda broken once you take into account the possibility for shooting and scoring on your own goal. From that point of view displaying Saves and Goals instead of Shots on Goal and Goals could be a little bit less ambiguous.
Another fun fact: Areena's LED rink is the world's first hockey rink that contains more than 160 meters of LED screen integrated into a modern flexible rink.
The guy who hit the goalie got 4 game suspension, meaning he wont be playing in the finals anymore.
I need to thank you, @jetlagwarriors. You two and this series have reignited my interest in Finnish hockey. I didn't think I would become interested in ice hockey again at this stage of my life, but here I am, watching every video you put out. I can't wait to attend my first live game and enjoy the eight euro beers. Thanks a lot!
12:50 As a Frölunda fan, I know how Ryan Lasch likes to play. He really likes having the puck behind the net where he is very good at finding good passes. He has also scored some goals by banking the puck of the goalie from behind the goal line. He's not a big player, but when he was at his prime in Frölunda, he was a playmaking monster. Unfortunately, he had a poor season 2022/23 and had to leave Frölunda with one year remaining on his contract.

Did you know that Pelicans also have Canadian player Nathan Schnarr #76 and Czech Filip Kral #82, who played for Toronto the last couple of seasons?
Kral played 2 NHL games in 22-23 and was Toronto's pick in 2018.
Schnarr is Arizona's 3rd round pick from 2017, never played any NHL games. He has played AHL games in Tuscon, Binghamton/Utica, Laval and in Ontario Reign.
Fun fact about the Nokia Arena. If there would be a glass floor under the ice, you would see trains going under the Arena. 🧐

Niklas Kokko and Kristian Heljanko are really the best two goalies in Liiga. They've been carrying their teams throughout the season and they might both be in the mens world championship tournament.
Love how you guys are just casually here in Finland, when your local team is playing in NHL playoffs :D

Funny thing, I'm from Tampere and I have never really cared for hockey. Don't really care if Tappara wins or loses. But for some reason I have watched all your videos and really hope for Tappara to win!🎉

When I watched the game on TV, it was very visible that Pelicans player didn't manage to dodge the goalkeeper in time. It was definitely not an intentional run over. On the sideline, a Tappara player tackled a Pelicans player on the wing and there was no penalty.
You are living the dream and thank you for sharing because I don't have to travel around, just watch you do it. Its funny how I always wait you to start speaking finnish rather than english and I have to remind myself that you are canadian. Could pass as 100% finn. Until u start speaking flawless english. 😅 If you can't get tickets I advice you to find local sports bar which is streaming the game. It is an great experience also. And maybe cheaper beer at least you can drink the whole game. 😂
Just incase you're still wondering why those few people have Mexican outfits, it's because of the Pancho Villa sponsor. Pancho villa is a Mexican style restaurant in Finland.
xG = goal prediction or expected goals. It grows everytime when you create goal oppurtunity or you have momentum on your side. If your xG is 4 at the end of the game and you made four goals, then you been on spot using your chances, if you have made just two goals then you been waisted opportunties and if you made 6 goals then goalie had really bad day... It's based on data what get from puck and player movement on ice.
This game was so good, real battle of the goalies!
Also Pelicans #82 Filip Kral played a WHOPPING 2 games in Maple Leafs last season.

Next sunday when Tappara wins the title remember to head to the central square after the match because fans goes there to celebrate.
Also you as a true Tappara-fans you can go to a bar after the celebration at the city centrum. And theres also celebration day or two after where music is played and the players are there and over 10 000 People. Its either in the city central or at Hakametsä (the previous arena where Tappara played before Nokia Arena was constructed).

Not deserved, considering how Heljanko literally leaned in against the rink, making it impossible to prevent the collision. 1 or 2 game penalty? Fine. four? that's just overkill...
Well props for Heljanko for fishing a huge penalty, I guess.
Skip the Karjala next time, and visit the lobby bar for Arena Lager or Maltti NEIPA. There is a brewery at the Arena.

It's very unfortunate the tap beer in the Nokia Arena is Karjala, it's the worst possible representation of our beer, maybe Lapinkulta is even worse tbf.
If you ever get a beer from the grocery store here in Finland please try Sandels, or Karhu. Karjala has that weird bitter metallic aftertaste I hate it with passion.

I wish kotimaista or coop lager would be tap beer. Lapin Kulta used to be good, but they changed the recipe i think. Karjala is not really that bad :D
@@NakkiJuustus Lapinkulta was good when it was still brewed in Lapland, then they sold their soul to a Danish company and the brewery was moved from Tornio to Lahti. It's name was still kept, which makes it such bs.
Karjala doesn't taste bad when you drink it but the aftertaste is ass, imo.
Pelicans' goalie Niklas Kokko is the hottest goalie prospect in Liiga atm. Future NHLer for sure.
He already has an AHL deal, so yeah, we will most definitely see him at NHL at some point.
He was drafted by the Seattle Kraken in 2022, but I don't know if they have a contract. How does this work?

Don't try it from the arena restaurant' though. You will be disappointed if you do that. The only real lihamuki comes from "Jonen grilli" at the street called "vapaudenkatu". Burgermafia at kärpänen and kivimaa have acceptable "lihamuki" as well, but those are quite far away from the arena.
The U18 Competition is in Espoo. It's worth going to see 🔥

Tappara has the best goalie in the league by a very large margin, it's annoying.
In march I went to Tampere to watch my home team Kärpät get clapped by Tappara 3-1 meanwhile it was something like 9-32 shots to goal.
Well, Kärpät wouldn't win anything no matter how good your goalie would be. You guys are like HIFK. Expensive af team, but no results in last 5 years. Well, at least we here in lahti have your best goalie. Perhaps he gets to shine here, after you kicked him out. lol :D
@@mikaelranki Well bronze is a result, not what we came for but a result definitely. They should just kick Anttila and team would be so much better. Dude is so clumsy he passed the second goal in our defensive line to Tappara I just started laughing how trash he is, entire game.

The Finnish saying is more like "seisoo VAIKKA päällään" [saavuttaakseen haluamansa], which means 'EVEN stands on his head' [to achieve what he wants]. 😊

This game was the battle of 2 incredeble goalies. Otherwise kinda boring, felt like both teams were just tired.

Btw, he has the all time record of most points without a goal in a single season in Finnish hockey league. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if hed be close to world record on that front. :D

Maple leafs are a bit like ilves. Ilves is a killer team in the regular season, but melts in the playoffs.

Also, just a statistical tidbit, in the SM-Liiga, there's only ever been one time that a team has won a series after being down 3-0, it was the Espoo Blues vs. KalPa in the quarterfinals of 2012.

Saturday 27.4. 17:00 @ Helsinki ice hall sixth final, mens floorball league, Oilers are one win short of being finnish champion against dynasty Classic. That might be your only change to experience finnish floorball. There are few of the worlds best players like Justus Kainulainen, Ville Lastikka and Eemeli Salin.
I highly recommend that even if I am not a fan of each of them but they are teams which can offer some really good quality match and there might be championship party for Espoo Oilers as they lead 3-2 after being 0-2 down after two games.

In the 70's the Finnish Ice Hockey federation decided, that as a small country we cannot be best at everything and they made a strategic decision to put most effort into goalie training. You see that in action now. That is the reason we always have world class goalies.

Not that bad compared to Canada. In Toronto at a hockey game a can costs about CAD 12.50 which amount to about EUR 8.
