FAQ:
What top coat/base coat do you use?
- I don't have a favorite topcoat, usually I use the INM Out The Door (can be found at Sally's Beauty Supply) for swatches and the HK Girl from Glisten & Glow for manicures. My all time favorite base coat the CND Stickey. You can find that on Amazon.com or at Ulta stores.
Why do you take your picture and video swatches separately?
- Since my lighting, camera settings, and tripod all have to be adjusted when switching from pictures to video, its faster, and helps keep the lighting more consistent, if I batch process all the pictures at once and then all the videos at another time. It also helps me get a feel for how to work with the polish if I do my pictures before the video.
How long do you let your nail polish dry between coats?
- I wait until a coat is completely dry to the touch before adding another one. The time it takes for that to happen varies from polish to polish, but usually is around 5-10 minutes.
How long do swatch videos take you to make?
- To take pictures, film, edit, and upload, it takes between 5-8 hours depending on the size of the collection.
Why don't you paint EVERY SINGLE inch of your nail and ALL THE WAY UP TO THE CUTICLE EVERY SINGLE TIME?! DEAR GOD WHY?!
- I purposely avoid the sides of my nails and my cuticle line when I'm swatching because I do swatches one after the other after the other. Removing polishes that are applied too close to the skin can stain the skin around my nails and make the next swatch look bad. I do it to keep the video clips and pictures clean.
Why don't you use a peel-off base coat when you swatch? You should use the UNT one because Simplynailogical uses it and everyone should use everything she uses with no exceptions.
- I speed swatch. The polish is still wet or tacky by the time I remove it to apply the next one. Using a peel-off base coat would not only add an extra step to my routine, but would require me to wait for the polish to dry before it could be peeled off. This would end up taking more time and be less efficient for me.
Trust me, if Cristine suggests it, I try it...but everyone has different taste in products and everyone does things differently. Two people can have vastly different opinions on a product. It doesn't mean that one of them is wrong, it means that they're different people.

Ilnp is absolutely my favorite brand of nail polish. So far, I have 18 bottles of their polishes. This says a lot because my only other favorite I have five bottles of them. Ilnp has a fantastic product!
New edditing looks good. Your swatching looks beautiful as always, so relaxing to watch you paint your nails lol i hope thats not creepy. I think im going to pass on this collection, none of them seemed to really call to me

Jennifer Tardie I wholeheartedly agree! At first I found the sliding in(idk editing speak) of each letter at the bottom distracting, but learned to glance and get back to the nails. My thought was maybe a fading in of the number of coats would have been better? It was great, these are just my thoughts.
It was the first video with new editing. Of course with new changes, they're not going to be able to pease everyone's tastes. I especially enjoyed the moving swatch side by side with the still shot.

I love the new edits! And I found it really helpful to see the swatch & the photo side by side, as well as the photo of your favorite polish at the end. Before I'd have to go back and re-watch the video (especially if it was closer to the beginning) to recall what your favorite looked like.
The only thing I wished for was that you did the background first and then the name of the polish rather than the polish name followed by the background. Personal thing though because otherwise - good job.
And this is one of my favorites from ILNP that I've seen on their IG page & I think I'll have to finally place an order with them. Thanks for all you do! ❤

Awesome addition with the polish names Jess. I always forget what they're called as you're doing them because I'm so focused on how pretty they are so this is rad. I miss the tunes with the swatch pictures but it's still amazing.

Love your swatches and the new editing, thumbs up for that neat color name insert, really cool! A tip for voiceover: I film and edit my swatching and the do voiceover with a microphone plugged into my computer directly via Premiere Pro while re-watching the edited swatches. 😊

Love the new editing and side by side swatch photo/video! An observation...would the little bar with the name of the polish and coats look better on the bottom right where there's a lot of white space? I feel like it slightly cuts off your swatching, but maybe that's just my brain getting used to something new. Your swatches still make me want every darn polish...lol! 💖💅
Thanks! There is a feature that RUclips has that puts a small transparent logo (that we still need to make) in the bottom right corner throughout the video that links straight to my channel when clicked. I was kind of stuck with the bottom left for the polish name if I wanted to be able to use that feature in the future. From what I've seen, RUclips doesn't let you put it anywhere but the bottom right.

I need to get used to it too! I'm going to try to film swatches with my fingers back a bit in the future so there is a bit more room for the polish name. I filmed these ones without any idea what the editing would look like :)

Good review and video from you but to be honest a lot of them all looked the same...what's the point of the last 2 polishes when you can pretty much already get the nail colour without using them..just a way of ILNP to make money.

a lot of brands release toppers like that, even the indies & boutique companies like ILNP.
but i will say a lot of the linear holos looked too much alike! this is also why i'm not fond of a majority of the Halo Hues from Colour Club. in my opinion if you pick just like two or three then basically you have them all lol & it's the same with these!!
