A fakir experiences an inner conflict when he lends his friend a valuable coat and turban. The friend, now appearing more regal, creates feelings of jealousy and inferiority in the fakir. Despite his efforts to dismiss these feelings and maintain his resolve not to mention the clothes, the fakir's internal struggle grows.
As the fakir visits his friends, he repeatedly tries to suppress his thoughts about the clothes, each time reaffirming his vow. The more he tries to control his mind, the stronger the internal conflict becomes, symbolizing the repression of natural desires and the resulting inner turmoil.
This inner conflict is mirrored in society's approach to sex. From a young age, children are taught that sex is sinful, creating deep-seated feelings of guilt and shame. As these children grow up, get married, and start their own families, they struggle with these ingrained beliefs. Women are told to regard their husbands as divine, yet they also carry the belief that sex is sinful. Men are instructed to see their wives as companions, but also face the contradiction that women are seen as gateways to hell in scriptures.
The story emphasizes the destructive effects of repressing natural desires and the need for acceptance and transformation of these energies into higher forms of love and understanding.
